I have Cigna also, how long did it take to get approved? Btw, congrats to being one step closer!
It took me 3 weeks to get approved. I was denied first and I heard from that in about a week and a half. Then I immediately submitted an appeal and then I was approved. I had surgery on the 26th of November.

Hey friends... Sorry it took so long for a reply but I've felt like I've been hit by a semi. There were complications with my surgery. They weren't able to intubate me or use their balloon down my throat to create the pouch. They said that 2 nurse anesthetist and an anesthesiologist both tried and no one was able. They had to to do an internal approach to create the pouch and also fixed a hiatal hernia. I'm just in so much pain. I was able to pass gas. Lol. Still no BM. TMI.
I had a moment yesterday. I was asking myself, "What did I just do". I was really regretting it. I'm sure it will pass.

And thanks Linds. You said the diet wouldn't be that bad. I can honestly say that it hasn't been that hard at all.

I'm sooooo excited! I know I'm not gonna be able to sleep. I feel like a kid waiting for Santa. LolBJ you ready?? Let's do it!!! I feel like dancing but I'm still at work so I gotta hold it in! Lol
What time's your surgery?
-
I seriously can't believe my surgery is tomorrow. The nerves.... The excitement definitely outweighs the nerves.

You can call your insurance company as many times as you want, just to see how far the process is and when it was actually submitted. I don't have BCBS but hope this helps.

Thanks AndreG and terry1118! I hope to be able to say the same after surgery! A friend of mine had similar positive experiences after his vertical sleeve surgery. But he was still using CPAP. Do you know if CPAP must be continued after surgery?
Hey man, I'm a registered sleep technologist, like one of the people that did your other studies. From my experience, people that undergo wls 90% of the time will come off of their Cpap. The only time that they wouldn't is if there are other reasons that are causing their sleep apnea or if they don't have a drive to breath(central sleep apnea). After you hit a healthy bmi, I would suggest scheduling another study. Ask for a split night study...if you do need Cpap still it's likely that your pressure will be a lot lower and they can test you on a lower pressure that night.

Lot's of fluids and rest!! You should be fine! Good Luck!
Thanks Kepsy! How is your process going?

Thank you ladies! If it's not one thing it's another.

Just my luck. Lastnight I noticed that my throat was getting very scratchy. Tonight when I woke up before coming to work I noticed that my throat was hurting terribly and my nose is stuffy. WTH?!?!?
Hope this doesn't effect my surgery.

Okay! Thank you so much! A lot of that stuff i never heard of so its good to have a few more options. But I'm using a GNC protien powder called Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 in vanilla. I mix it with skim milk but I gag when I drink it now. Before I came to work tonight I bought Naked Protien juice and Premeir Protien shakes in Vanilla. I heard those were good too.
But you only have 3 days left right? Are you nervous?
-
. This diet is kicking my ass. Sorry about the profane language but it's no easy way to put it. Lol. I've been so moody but I think it's my body detoxing off of the sugar and caffeine. I've lost my taste for the Protein Shakes that I'm drinking too. What are some things you are eating(well...drinking) for your liquid diet? That's so awesome that yours was quick. That's what happened with me too! I thought I'd be waiting awhile because of the holidays but there was a cancellation and the day for the surgery happened to be my 30th birthday so I figured I'd ****** it up! It was meant to be. So glad we are all only a few days apart and are going through this together! I'm 5 days from finishing my pre-op diet. WHEW!!!! BJ: How are you doing so far on your pre-op diet??

November 26th!
Haven't been this excited in years!

So i had my final doctors appointment today. After the appointment I met with the scheduler to schedule my surgery and got the most unexpected news. She said that my surgery would be on November 26th. I said "WHAT?!?? THATS IN 12 DAYS! Her response was "We'll your diet starts right now" I'm happy and unprepared at the same time. I was supposed to have a blind date tonight but that's definitely cancelled, which I'm secretly happy about. The one thing that is making me uneasy is the fact that the diet is suppose to be 2 weeks. The scheduler told me that missing 2 days wouldn't hurt. I hope not....

I have been going through the process since May of this year. I passes everything with flying colors and was approved from the ins. Co. I've had problems with losing my 10 lbs....I mean common' date=' this is why we are all getting the surgery right? Well Oct 29th I was supposed to get my surgery date. The nurse even told me " if u gain a few pounds it will be ok. You will still get your surgery date." Well I gained 4 of the 10 lbs back. Mind you every time they schedule me its around my period. Well the Dr/ Surgeon was like "well looks like you aren't getting your surgery this year." I was so upset. I've done EVERYTHING they asked me to do. My ins company does not require weight loss, does not require supervised weight loss. Nothing. I hit my maximum out of pocket so it was covered 100%. Now I have to fork out another 3500 next year to get it done. :-([/quote']I would switch surgeons. That's ridiculous. I gained weight too and my surgeon said he sees it a lot due to the "last supper" syndrome. Lol I would give the office a call and at least tell them that you already have your max o/p paid and you want the surgery this year.

If it makes you feel better, I gained 5 pounds during my supervised diet. I didn't lose a pound and I was approved. I think you will be fine.

Thanks everybody! I don't have a date yet. I have an appointment on Nov 14th. I believe it will be scheduled at that time.

Today is one of the happiest days of my life. I checked the mail and there was a letter from Cigna stating that I was approved for my RNY.
One step closer to the losers bench.
