  1. Hey guys, its so nice to see everyone learning and giving out such great advice and encouragment. It truly is wht keeps me gvoing when I hit a bump in the road. I am still doing good. Lost another 2lbs. I tell ya thoug if they every come out with a pill or surgery for will power I will be the 1st in line. That has been one of my biggest strugles. I cheated and had only one little bitd of a buttercups cupckake this weekend. I am NOT a sweet eater but I probably would have ate the whole thing if it weren't so dry. I should not have hdx the one bite either. I know they say you should not denie yourself the thingsz you love, instead treat your self everyonce in awhile so you don't gorge on them later, but sweets are not my thing, I love crab claws. That's what I should have used that one little slip up for. Does anyone out there know that nutritional value of campisi's crab claws? I don't think I want to know but I would love to have them right now. Anyways. Everyone stay foccused and keep up the hard work we deserve it. Oh and I can't remember who wrote the comment about not wanting to get into a swim suite, but I wanted to say this to you.... life is to short to worry about what others think of you. You need to go get you a swim suite and wear it proudly. You are a beautiful women and deserve the right to swim. Not only is it good for you but its fun. So go get that swim suite...I know I will.

  2. thetrishah, my daily menu would be as follows: I usually have a black bean spicy burger patty by morning star, I think it is 120 cals and 11 grams of Protein. I will also have a small egg microwaved. If not that I will have a 45 gram Protein Shake. For lunch I have the same shake. For dinner I have salmon, talapia or chicken. (4oz) if I need a snack I will have greek yougart 4oz with 1/4 cup gluten free granola. I will also have Water all day and after dinner unsweet tea. I will have on the side steamed veggies but rarely have room for them. I would also like to mention that when I was drinking soda it was always diet soda, no sugar. Infact I never had sugar when I was messing up my diet. It was more the carbs and slider foods. And drinking with my meals. I was diabetic and could not have sugar I always use splenda for sugar. I hope this was helpful.

  3. Well I don't know the scientific standings on the soda thing. All I know is that at 6months out I started drinking them slowly to the point I would have at least 2 a day. Well at my one yr check up, I had gained weight and I noticed that I could eat alot more than normal. That is when my Surgeon told me it was the soda and that it was stretching my sleeve/pouch. He said it was a bigger no no than alcohol. all I can say is I will never touch another soda again. Whether it's true or not I will not do it.

  4. Dear K33, don't let my set back or anyone'en set back stop you from doing something that can give you your life back. I can't speak for everyone, but if you don't use the tool properly it will not work, and that was my mistake. I was eating and drinking all the wrong things. This is a lifestyle change and not a miracle surgery it takes hard work dedication. (something I was not doing which led me to my temppeary hiccup.) I did not post my set back to discourage anyone. Like all my fellow slevers said 39 lbs is a victory and with their advice it helped me to remember that. That's why we post to help one another. Regardless if I ever meet my goal weight, the VSG was the best thing I ever did. I should mention that I was diabetic type 2 and now I am not. There are many reasons why I wanted the VSG, mostly I wanted to be able to move around and enjoy life with my kids without feeling tired and fat all the time. I am not saying it is easy, (diets are easy) it is hard work but you can do it and will not regret it if you do. And if your ever in a slump just go on here and they will put you back on track, like they did for me. Btw Today is 8 lbs gone since last Monday. Back in my way.

  5. I first want to say thank you to everyone for the advice and encouraging words. About Dr. Nick, I do like him but agree that he should play a bigger role in post op. I didn't see him after surgery till my 1 yr follow up. As for my pouch size it is a 34 bougie. I have noticed that most success stories that I have read are a 32. ( by that I mean they met their goal and then some in a much shorter time period) that's not to say that this is true for everyone. I also noticed that the 32 comes with more issues as far as being able to handle the Protein. I askex the Dr about this and he said the differance is so small it shouldnt matter but I really think it does.

So I deceided to go back to the basics. I started with just Protein Shakes 3 days ago. Today I deceided to make a salad with a 6 oz salmon . I was only able to eat 3/4 of the salmon and I was done. I didn't even make it to the salad. So I think it is working. A week ago I would of ate all of it plus a glass of tea. Today I did not drink with my meal and it made a big differance. I felt the restriction and knew I was full. I will keep everyone posted on my on or off scale victories that I hope will come soon. Thanks again for the support.

  6. I am one year and 2 months out. I must say it has not been very good for me.I started this journey at 210 lbs and now weigh 171 lbs. That is only a 39 lb weight loss in a year. To me this is a FAIL...I will say that 6 months post op I took a drink of a soda for the first time and missed it so I started drinking them again. I knew it was a no, no but was never really told why. I have since found out that the carbination will expand your pouch and it will NOT shrink back to the small size it was. So you can bet I have not had a soda since. I have been frustrated since about 2 months out. I never really felt restriction, although I can not eat as much as I could, I can eat way more than 6-8 oz. Which is what they told me my max would be 6 oz. I do feel like I have kinda given up. I stopped working out and started to eat whatever about 2 months ago, after my 1 year follow up. I have since gained 8 lbs. So on Monday I deceided to go back to 2 shakes a day and 1 low cal, low fat high Protein meal and lost 7 lbs. But I should be down at least 50+ pounds by now per my DR. My goal weight is 130, and I really really want to get there. I spent way to much money, blood, sweat and tears to only loose 39 lbs and not get my life back. If anything I feel worse. I have such horrible pain in both my knees that started 4 months post op, and on some days I can hardly walk. (which has been part of the lack in exercise). If there is anyone out there who has had trouble from day one or not, that might have some words of encouragment or a better way to make this work I am all ears. I hate to sound like a cry baby, but I am desperate.

  7. I had to take the injections 10 days after surgery. I have thrombophilia, which is a blood clotting disorder. I actually had my daughter give me my shots. She is 8 and did a great job. She gives herself shots every night and I just couldn't bring myself to stick myself. I too started my period on about the 3 rd day of shots and thought I was going to bleed to death, but everything was fine. If I even had a period it would be very light and only last a day or two. So I can relate, it was awful. You will be fine.

I had my surgery on June 27th. I am required to take blood thinner injections for 14 days after getting home from the hospital. I think it is called levonox? Unfortunately, I started my period the morning of surgery. The injections have complicated my period and is causing me to bleed very heavily and is not stopping. I had an endometrial ablation October of last year, so I really shouldn't be bleeding very much at all at this time. My surgeon still wants me to keep taking the injections but has approved that I not take them for 2 days in hopes that my period will stop. So far it has not. This is really worrying me. I have been anemic since I had my ablation and do not want it to get any worse. I am also freaked out about getting a blood clot. I have a giant bruise on my inner thigh that showed up a day or 2 after surgery and is now getting a little sore. I also really hate giving myself the shots, even after watching my diabetic father do it to himself several times a day my whole life. Any thoughts on all of this?

    Thanks~ Chelsea

  8. I have had an off scale victory today. I have lost 3" in my thighs, 2" in my calfs, 5" in my waist and 4" in my butt. Plus I have finally broke my 4 week stall and lost 4 lbs this week. I guess the dr was right. He told me to increase my calories from 600 to 800, and I added a Protein Shake and bam the end of a stall. I am 7 1/2 weeks out so I am feeling pretty excited. I have been doing a boot camp 3 days a week and really needed to add more Protein and calories. I thought that was a crazy idea, but it worked.

  9. Ok so I have not lost 1 pound in 4 weeks and I am 6 weeks out. I had my 6 week post op today and showed my food log, and excercise log to the dr. I have been following my instruction by the book. He said that everyone stalls, but mine came very early and has lasted longer than he expected. Not encouraging words I might add, even the Dr is baffled. So I told him that I started boot camp today and the response I got was "well be pre-pared to not see the scale move. If you are doing boot camp then prepare your self for an extended stall". WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess because I am short at 5 foot, and weigh 190 my body has to build muscle to burn fat ( which I know), but I have done boot camp before surgery so it's not like I have no muscle at all. But to have my Dr not have a clue as to why I have not lost in 4 weeks, then tell me that if I do boot camp I am sure not to loose for even longer period of time, I am just at a loss for words. I am just so discouraged right now.:( :( :( :(

  10. Well written, I wish You would have posted this at my 3 week mark. I got on that stupid scale every damn day and NOTHING moved. I am 5 weeks out now and still nothing. I will not get on that scale again until my 6 week follow up. I am very dishearten by the non moving scale, and I hope that it does not keep me in this rut for long. I am a cash pay patient and I think I spent equally as much on crap before I paid for my surgery. The money we waste on all the B.S they "feed" us on tv, it should be outlawed.

Good luck with your weight loss journey. Its nice to know we are not alone out here.

  11. Skinnyagain, did the doc say what would need to be done about a pulled stitch? Does it just have to heal on its own?

Yes it will heal on it's own. I will tell you that at my 2 week follow up I was having no pain at all, and my Dr's PA told me she sees a lot of increase in pain on the 3 rd week. Well she was right I went from no pain to horrible pain on my left side again. It went away after 2 days and now no pain. So to sum it up you will be fine. Take your pain meds and you should feel lots better at 3 1/2 weeks out.

  12. My NUT moved me to a mushie diet and I cannot get in even half the Protein I need. My little tummy only holds about 2 oz or 1/4 cup of mush. I am supplementing with shakes to get in greater than 60 gms of Protein. 3 meals and 2 Snacks will only get me about 10 oz and since it is not mainly meat, that is not enough protein. Any suggestions?

My Nut game me a recipe for double protein milk. It's is 8 oz of 1% milk mixed with 1/3 cup of carnation non fat dry milk. This makes 16 grams of protein. You Can add your Protein Powder with it to make a shake or use the milk for cooking or just drink it. That is if you can tolerate dairy. I also add the unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder to yogurt, milk, Or anything liquid I can to get more Proteins in.

  13. Hey thanks so much guys I do believe I get it now Measure, measure ,measure. I am going to look at all the food ideas given on this forum and rethink this eating thing. I want my tool to work for me and I will do what ever it takes to make that happen. I know that my tummy does seem to hold more in the evening like I have seen many people post. My plate last night for dinner was a very small plate. It was one of the plates you could fit a piece of cake on. But the content of food just seemed large. So for now on I will measure and use my same small plate. Any ideas for food would be great. Thanks again to everyone. I couldn't do it with out your wisdom and advice..

  14. Thanks tiffykins. When you say measure do you mean fill up a cup or go by the lable on the food. Example a 4 oz piece of fish per the lable or measure it out in a measuring cup.

You really might not be having a full signal, and that's a lot of soft foods especially for 3 weeks out. The key to not overeating is to measure your portions and stop eating.

It goes along my post on "Tips to Success". Just because you can doesn't mean you should. It took me months to get a real full signal.

Your stomach has been stapled off, and removed from your body. Your nerves have been damaged, traumatized, and need time to heal.Your swelling may have gone down faster than some others. So measuring is essential for you to be successful. Follow the surgeon's guidelines, and if you aren't on an acid reducer ask your surgeon about going on one. Overproduction of acid can cause false hunger also.

  15. I have a friend who eats the PB2. She has not had WLS,but is on this other diet thing. She will mix it with fat free cool whip and fat free SF chocolate Syrup. She says it taste just like a reeces Peanut Butter cup and freezes it for an ice-cream treat.

That looks good! I am going to order some. Nice to see they pride themselves on having no artificial sweeteners. Not everyone likes that taste and you can hardly find a product like this that you can add to smoothies that doesn't have it.
