  1. I was told by my doctor not to drink for the first year due to the liver. He said that the rapid weight loss during the first year was hard on the liver and that drinking alcohol put it under additional strain. He also mentioned all the concerns that previous posters have mentioned such as getting drunk quickly and cross addiction. But the primary medical reason for him was liver function.

Kelly, you bring up a good point. Thanks for this post.

  2. I had a glass of wine about 3 months post op. with no side effects what so ever. I do not get drunk or buzzed any faster than before surgery. I like to have my glass of red wine at night becuase it is very healthy for you. Everyone is different and handles alcohol differently' date=' I tolerate the alochol the same as before surgery. You just need to know that alcohol has empty calories so drink in moderation. My surgeons office said that you would get durnk quicker and to be very careful which I was when I first had a glass of wine. If you do have a drink I would make sure you are home, eat first, and see what your reaction is becaue you don't want to be out and get sick or really drunk. Do some testing at home first.[/quote']

I can drink about 2 oz of wine send feel like I am tipsy, I enjoy wine and I may treat myself to a small glass once a week. If I drink a moscato I tend to feel it more. I think because of the sugar. Just be careful because wine is full of empty calories.

  3. Hi All!

I am currently pre op and I have been asked to take 325mg of Iron 2 to 3 times per day. Is anyone else taking this high of an amount of Iron?

    Thanks!

I am currently taking iron 3x a day. I was anemic before my surgery and now it is lower. I was told this would happen. So do yourself a favor and take your iron, because you don't want to have to get the infusion. You can also up your intake of iron rich foods. This will get your levels up the natural way. Make sure you take a stool softener to keep you regular.

  4. I got the Unjury unflavored but it still has a Protein taste to me' date=' I then accidentally came across a post on eggface's website and she posted that the unflavored is just not chocolate or vanilla but still has that protein taste. So I wasn't a huge fan of it.[/quote']

I have tried the unjury unflavored, strawberry and chocolate and I love them, but if you are looking for a good tasting Protein Drink try Boost Vanilla. It is tasty. It you get the high Protein One it will have that protein taste to it, but it is still very good cold.
