Make working out a priority!
aep2k1983 replied to theby_88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hated working out in the beginning but at 5 months out, I feel guilty if I don't do it. Once you start, it will just become routine & it really does make a difference. You will feel better all around. I got a Striiv pedometer & it really encourages me to get my steps in. You can do challenges with the app on your phone & earn coins etc. I really like it. You do look wonderful & congratulations!!! I do the same thing & I'm slowly starting realize that I really do look different. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I usually just get the nonfat greek yogurt, usually Dannon. I then add sugar free jello mix. I think it tastes great that, and I usually one use strawberry. I have also tried the Dannon Light & Fit ones. I believe they both have about 8 carbs a serving.

Isn't it great the little things you notice?
aep2k1983 replied to soontobehealthymom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I also noticed my husbands ability to put his arms completely around me, with extra room to spare. The other thing that I keep realizing and it still feels weird--I can look down and my stomach doesn't stick out further than my chest does. I'm 5 months out 60 lbs down. -
The first picture was taken the day before surgery. The second picture was taken this week. I'm 5 months out and I have lost 60 lbs. I know that isn't as much as many others, but I'm so very proud of my progress. I feel wonderful and know that having RNY was the best the decision I could have made. I would really like to lose 20 more lbs to be at my "goal" weight, but I would also be ok with only losing 10 more. If I can get the 10 lbs off, I would actually have a "normal" BMI, which is really all I want

Caffeinated coffee post-op
aep2k1983 replied to erikaloftin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my coffee every morning and it hasn't bothered me in the least. I say go for it. If you don't feel well after drinking it, then you will know that you can't have it . I'm sure you've heard it's all really trial and error. -
That is sooooo very Awesome!!! Congrats!!! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

aep2k1983 replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I hate protein shakes :-(
aep2k1983 replied to DreamInColor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really enjoy the Atkins cafe caramel Protein shake. I also enjoy the nectar that is the roadside lemonaide flavor. I mix a scoop with 16 oz of Water and a packet of crystal light. It tastes really good! I was the same way about Protein shakes, but now I love my atkins once so much, I have one a day... Good luck with everything! -
Good for you going to the gym and CONGRATS on the 20 minutes!!! I had a very similiar experience, but it's my FAVORITE machine now.... I can now stay on it for 45 minutes!

Relationships after rny!
aep2k1983 replied to vbgirl264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My relationship with my husband has gotten stronger. I will say other female family members have not treated me well. It's true that others that are used to eating with you etc do not know how to be around you after surgery. It's part jealousy & their own issues with food they haven't dealt with. Keep those that support you close. -
Any one have surgery with a starting bmi around 35
aep2k1983 replied to marypip's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a bmi of 37 at the time if surgery. I have type two diabetes & high blood pressure. I still have to take 1 injection fort diabetes, but no more blood pressure meds before I left the hospital. I'm so happy I made the decision to have surgery. It changes your life for the better!!! -
I agree we all make mistakes but as long as you get back to the right foods at the next meal it's ok. I had some nachos from Taco Bell today & a mini ice cream sandwich. I don't dump but I just feel bad. All the carbs, sugar, fat... My body is not used to it... I hope to remember this feeling the next time I want to do that. It's all a process & I think we have to allow ourselves some slack...

When did your weight loss slow down?
aep2k1983 replied to Jilllorraine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For all the comments I've read, I think everyone had done an AWESOME job!!! It's so hard to not be discouraged when we don't see the progress we expected. I'm in the same boat. But I'm like Don, I'm so thankful for this tool & I can't believe the changes in my life already. I'm more fit & healthy than I've ever been in my life. We all got this & will reach our goals, it will just take some time. I wish you all the best!!! -
Ugh having a hard time finding comfort
aep2k1983 replied to mullberry7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel with your friends. My sister in law has actually done that to me. She refuses to acknowledge my weight loss. I've expressed my feelings to her & nothing has changed... Can't believe family would act like this... -
watching people eat
aep2k1983 replied to hajones5891's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree!! I can't believe some if the stuff I are people eat. My husband is included. He's never been overweight actually almost underweight but seeing him eat McDonald or Wendy's is so gross & it smells horrible! I can't believe I used to eat that stuff only 4 months ago.... -
Would love to be added aep2k1983. Thanks!!!
