  1. Mitilda I am sick to death of milk! Its so boring and bland and if I never drink it again it will be too soon. But I am not so hungry now and I havent had any headaches so not all bad. I have been drinking plenty of sugar free squash so I think that has kept the headaches away. I still want to eat everything and my sense of smell is heightened so anyone eating near me is torture.

I am just glad I am allowed yogurt as its the only flavour Im getting. I have lost 9lb now and I have noticed that my clothes are getting loose. Thats always encouraging.

But to be honest the only thing keeping me going is the fear that my liver will be too big. I do not want to wake up with no band because I cheated. I am going to give this 100%. Are you being good before your pre op or are you having what you think you will miss? My advice is to eat food with plenty of flavour rather than volume because believe me its the flavour you miss!

  2. Hi Matilda, I started the milk diet on Friday and its torture! You are allowed 2-3 pints of half fat milk per day plus 2 small low fat yogurts. Plus diet drinks. But thats it. I went to London on Saturday and EVERYONE was eating every food from around the world. It was hellish but I got on the scales this morning and I have lost 6lb so that makes it worth it.

I have wanted to cheat but I am so terrified that they wont do the band that it stops me, even when my daughter made chocolate cup cakes yesterday.

How are you doing? Are you on a pre op diet yet, I cant remember (sorry). Does it seem like a long way off still? It does for me.

  3. I had weight, blood pressure, MRSA test, blood test and ECG. In and out in an hour. They did tell me to bring a yogurt with me on the day of surgery as you have to eat before you can go home. Not sure if I will want to eat so soon after the op. I go in at 7am and am home by 11am the same day. I will probably still be too dozey to eat. They also gave me body wash which is the same stuff the surgeon scrubs up with.

I am going to do the milk diet as my scales showed a 1.5lb gain this morning!! I am not happy about that but I am also worried about my liver not shrinking enough. Thats my greatest fear. The nurse did my BMI today and it was 49.9. She said "oh you dont look that huge",

    well thanks for that.:glare:

But its done now and I am on my way. Does it feel real to you now? I dont think it will really sink in until the surgery day. I hope I dont chicken out. I dont think I will but you never know.

  4. Ah Matilda I have a head cold too. Ive had it about 2 days and I'm fighting it off but I have 18 days till my op so it should be gone by then. Isn't it always the way, we have waited so long for the band and then get colds?

I have been doing my pre op diet for 3 days now (even though it's not supposed to start till tomorrow) and I am so tired and hungry! I am hoping that will get better as the days go on and of course it doesn't help that I feel under the weather. But all in all feeling positive for tomorrow.

How long do you have to wait for your results? What tests did you have and did they take photos?????

  5. Hi Elleaitch,

Can you remember what tests you had before your band? I have my pre op on Thurs and am a little worried.

  6. I am having my pre op appointment on Thursday the 4th (2 more sleeps) and I am very nervous. I keep thinking what if they do a test and say I am not suitable? I think I will be more relaxed once it is over and done with and I can focus on my band date.

  7. Ah thanks ladies :rolleyes2: I am having a very positive day today. I havent been too hungry and it was still daylight when I got home from work so I am all fired up to go to the gym.

Now it's March I can actually say I am having my band before next pay day! Yippee.

    Hope you are all well?

Hi Elleaitch long time no hear. I just checked out your photos and you look amazing :w00t: hope you feel as good too? Over 70lb down, well done you. Any top tips for a newbie?

    Talk soon, take care x

  8. Good for you Matilda! I think you look lovely, but I know how you feel in yourself. I hate pictures of me. The one on my profile is quite a good one. They generally dont look so good. For me its the chins!

Hopefully we can amaze each other with the wonderful after pics very soon. I do intend to upload some more realistic pics so brace yourself lol.

  9. Hi jacquie

My surgery is 22nd of March. I thought you might like a friend whose date was close to yours so we will be at the same stage?

    take care

    Fiona

  10. Hi We are having our surgery on the same day, 22nd of March and I would love to share your journey. Hope we can help each other :-)

  11. Hi Laurel, Its lovely to have someone to share your journey with, I hope we can help each other through this exciting change. I look forward to hearing your story. Are you on any diet kind of diet yet? I am day two of a four week pre op diet and its not easy but its surprising how much will power you can muster when you have such an important goal.

    Wish you well

    take care

    Fiona

  12. Hi Everyone, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas?

At last January is coming to an end.

I am still waiting for a date for my op. They told me it would be done in 18 weeks and its been 16 so far. How do you all manage the holidays? I gained about 7lbs and I am working hard to get rid of them now but that has been the cycle of my life for so long now.

I have been watching the Biggest Loser season 7 on TV and it really worries me that one of the contestants has already had a gastric bypass! How did he get so big with a stomach the size of an egg??? Oh my gosh.

The other depressing thing is that I looked in the mirror at the gym and thought "who is that overweight person looking back?" I really dont recognise myself. I feel like I'm lost in there somewhere. And my surgeon was worried I would not be able to cope with looking slimmer ha ha.

Anyway I hope you are all well and doing fab. Cant wait to see more of your photos.

    Take care,

    Fiona x

  13. Hi, I loved reading your blog! Its so nice to have someone have a sense of humour about all this stuff. Hope its all going well. I am waiting for a date for my op but I am on a low carb diet until then. Fingers crossed I get banded before Christmas.

  14. Youre welcome. I havent had the op yet. I just got approval so I'm on the waiting list. I'm told it should be done by Feb at the latest but I have signed up for any cancellations so fingers crossed it will be before Christmas. I have been watching you and Julie-Ann and your progress is such an encouragement. I am so looking forward to being able to put my before and after pics here. I am also looking forward to watching weight come off the scales and stay off. But I know it won't be easy. I have also read bloggs of people who have struggled and not lost much weight at all. Thats the scary part. One thing that impresses me about your blog is that you manage to remain positive when the scales go up! I know that will be a problem for me as I weigh my self everyday and my mood depends on what they say.

I will have to change that I know.

Thanks for your post and thanks for sharing your journey.

    take care x

  15. Hi just wanted to share my news today with you. I went to see the surgeon and he said YES I could have the op. He has applied for funding which will take 6 weeks. He thinks I will have no problems being accepted and has not had a rejection yet!!!! Then once funding is approved they have to operate within 18 weeks. Worst case I will have a band by mid Feb. Yay.

How are you doing? I couldn't get my ticker to attach to anything lol. Maybe I need more practice.

Did you have the Lap Band or the Mid Band? My guy does the Mid Band and I must say I have never heard of it but he was singing it's praises.

Anyway must dash, hope you are well.

    take care,

    Fiona x

  16. Hi Liz,

I have been seeing a medical doctor for 18 months and he has now referred me to a surgeon who I will see next week. I was wondering what to expect from this appointment. I really dont think I can wait another 18 months but cannot afford to have it done privately. I would love to hear your experiences with the NHS.
