Um I wonder why no almond milk? I saw in the store an unsweetened one it had 40 calories I think. I will ask my dr and nut about it on Friday when I go for my eight week check up

Hi jannie and welcome. My surgery was nov 19th. I'm doing great. Lost 35lbs in four weeks and then went through a big stall out now getting back on track with protein shakes. Dr finally this Friday to weigh in. How are you doing?

Yay for you. I went back to the shakes also. At least one maybe two a day my protein daily is between 80/100. I'm hoping when I step on the scales Friday it will pay off I was in a big stall also. It's funny but it seemed that when I started exercising at around 4weeks post op I stopped losing hopefully I just needed a little kick.

    Should i be concerned?

I'm also in week 8 I take a stool softener daily. Iron will make your stool appear black and tarry. Also a bleed can cause this effect also but is usually accompanied with a smell (sorry) that is gagable to say the least. Can't really describe the smell if a gi bleed unless you have smelled one. But you should let your dr be aware of this they can test for bleeding with a simple stool card.
  7. I didn't go home with the JP drain. I struck a deal with my doc that if the surgery went great and there was min drainage that they would take it out before I went home and they did. I hate those things that was the third surgery I have had that I ended up with one. I wish I could have skipped it altogether. I'm sure you will feel better and heal faster now.
  8. I know this feeling worm my daughter put her shoe on my leg for me to tie her laces and it felt like it gave me an instant bruise. Lately it seems I can't stand any pressure on my legs arms or ribs. I'm hoping that's a good sign. I will finally see my dr this Friday and will weigh in to see if I have lost any more this last three weeks.

For protein I first tried shrimp cocktail it was great easily digestible new flavor good protein and was able to get it down without any pain pressure about 6pieces to start.

I use my fitness pal app for the iPhone. It is way easier and with me all the time lol. I prolly wouldn't do so good if I had to get on computer to log. There is another app titled "lose it" it works similar to my fitness pal but I like mfp better.

My daughter who is 19 has just been dx with a bunch of cysts and fibroid tumors she has had terrible cramps and pain and sickness and heavy heavy periods that last over a week and like two periods a month she was put on birth control pills and depo shots to get it under control. They are watching her as they say it is painful but somewhat common in young women. I was found to have an enlarged uterus but no fibroid tumor was found. I think the first course after medication is an ablasion or scraping to remove the tumors. I'm hoping that my daughters clear up and don't cause any further problems as she is young and has no children but will want a family one day and some of the treatments can cause infertility or in worse case a hysto.

The same thing happened to me with meatballs...mine was not because of the sauce. I think the bread crumbs in the meatballs had something to do with it, same with meatloaf. It get it down then about 5 mins after back up it comes it feels like it gets stuck and starts expanding

Take it from someone who has terrible anxiety and panic disorder. The worse thing you can do is make self dx. Or research medical conditions... You will think the worst is happening. Just try to relax and call your doctor and if he feels the test is necessary go with it and don't try to over think it. In the mean time cut out those drinks and food that you are finding irritating to your stomach pouch. And if you still have your liquid medicine that is usually prescribed three x a day half hour before meals then take that as it is to prevent ulcers or soothe and heal the ulcerative lining. Good luck to you hope you feel better soon.

I have the striiv app also. I love it. It keeps me walking one challenge at a time and I'm always trying to beat a goal or time or something. 12,000 steps is awesome! I think my highest is in the 8,000 range still.

    Drinking Alcohol....

After rny your system can not break down the alcohol as it used to. You are drunker faster and it lasts longer taking as little as one drink.
  21. Great pics I was thinking about posting pics too I actually see the difference. Keep it up. You can def see the difference in the thighs and upper body and high abdomen area. I noticed that I lost weight in these areas also and of course "the girls " are falling down lol and my three rolls turned into two lower ones.
  22. No doubt! I even told my doctors I couldn't understand why I couldn't lose weight because I didn't eat that much at all and what I ate was mostly healthy hahaha!
  23. I had the sleeve so I don't have to worry about the "dumping" syndrome. I have become a complete label freak though. The grocery store takes three times as long and my family are not too happy that somehow got put on a diet if whole grain pastas and high protein low carb sugar free diets along with me ( even though I can't even eat pasta) lol. Compared to what I look for now and how I used to eat... No wonder why I got fat it is just a scary thing after you learn to read the food labels.
  24. Don't see that I have found this group yet lol I'm new to this site. My surgery date was nov 19th. I lost 24 lbs the first two weeks and was down 35lbs at the end of week 4 then I gave up the protein shakes because they are nasty and starting exercising. I get my daily protein through fish and my calories are under 500 a day my fluid intake is prolly bad still lucky to get 24ozs . I'm in a stall not sure what to do from here so today I decided to back track a little I went back to the protein powder and shakes and my goal is to double my water intake and see if that helps I haven't weighed in the last week or so I don't see the dr until the 18th of this month. It is common to stop losing weight for awhile? Had this happened to anyone else? I'm starting to feel like I've done something wrong or ate something wrong, maybe I'm not eating enough or too much idk any suggestions? I will not fail at this!

    hi all new here...

I have read reports that you have to have diabetes to get Medicaid to pay for wls. I had Medicaid as a secondary and it wouldn't cover the surgery because I didn't have diabetes.
