starting BMI over 50? come on in!

Hi Cerrin, Phil has a lot of good points! Are you able to eat that much in one sitting? In the morning I am lucky if I can get 3/4 of an egg down. I eat about a half of a 6 oz yogurt and maybe a slice of cheese later on. I get full pretty fast most times. Once in a while which I don't understand I can eat a good amount(for me at least) The other night I went out to dinner and I was sitting there watching people around me eat big bites and eat bread and all kinds of stuff and I was having a "woe is me" moment. When that happens I remind myself how misrable I was, and how I could bearly walk long enough to even go shopping. The probelm for me is I forget where I was and how far I have come! You can do this one day at a time one step at a time. Do you drink enough liquids? When you feel hurgry maybe you are just thirsty. Like Phil said NEVER drink liquids during dinner and not for at least an hour after you eat, and NEVER have carbonated beverages! Good Luck!
  2. Abbie, What kind of a boss do you have! That is aweful! Who is he to make fun of you! God that makes me so mad, how dare he! It's bad enough what we have to deal with from strangers staring and laughing, but your boss! Is there nothing you can do legally about that!? I can tell you there IS a light at the end of the tunnel! In 25 days you will get to start your new life! I now can go out and I am just a reg. over weight person now lol. No more stares and laughs. If I could eat at a buffet no one would laugh & stare at me like I was going to eat the whole buffet, lol but who needs the buffet! You will do fine just wait and see! I put on a bathing suit with some shorts and I went to an indoor pool early in the day with all the other folk, and I didn't carfe what anyone thought I just walked and walked. You can do it too!!!! Best wishes!

  4. Hummm that's interesting. Makes me feel worse because I am very bad about exercising and my thighs are sagging but my arms are the worst part. I now have bat wings! I must say I thought the skin would be worse then it is but I still have a ways to go. These last 50 pounds will be the toughest for sure. It is so very slow now but thats ok, slow but sure! Best Wishes
  5. Hi Momster, Glad to hear you are doing so well!! I too love that show, I wish I could exercise like they do. This season they finally had big women and I am dying to see how they look at the end! Especilly there skin on the arms and such. oops boss is back have to run!
  6. hey momster, How are you feeling? I remember for me it took about 2 weeks before for I felt pretty much back to myself. It took me a while before I could sleep on my port side. Sounds like you are doing very well, I am glad to hear it! Now that the weather is starting to get nice out I AM going to start walking! I so need to exercise that is my one huge down fall! starting BMI over 50? come on in!

Hey Bev. I am sorry to hear you are having trouble. I gained 7 pounds and I knew it was because I was able to eat way more then I should. I also was eating more knowing I was going to go for a fill. The fill was great becasue I lost the 7 pounds and 6 more! So go get the fill! Hang in there you just need the fill to help you out. I am worried becuase I have a 10 cc band BUT the Dr said t only holds 4 cc's and I am at 3. She said they have never had a person who needed a fill and there was no room left to fill. I sure hope I am not the first! Anyway hang in there get your fill! and start writing down what you are eating. You can do this! Best Wishes!
  8. I was banded in Nov. and didn't start the pool until Jan. I went 3 times a week. I did a Water arobics class which was 45 mins. Then I walk jogged and swam for another hour or hour and a half. It was great. I have not been able to go beacuse of my job now but I exercise with my wii fit a few times a week. I need to do more and I would be loosing a lot faster. Exercise is not my strong point, but it makes a huge difference when you do! I also walk a few times a week. The waiting for the last few days was the worst part, so just hang in there and before you know it it will be over! Good luck!
  9. Momster, I remember all too well how scared I was the few days right before the surgery. Some may not have been but I was, but you know what it was great. Not near as bad as I thought it would be and I would do it over again in a heart beat! Your plan sounds great, I tell you the pool is the way to go if you have bad knees which I do. Again I went early morning with the seinors and wore long shorts with my bathing suit but it doesnt matter once your in the Water who cares! You go! Good luck I will be thinking about you, let me know how your surgery goes! Best wishes!
  10. Hi Momster, I do understand I am 5'1" and I weighed 358. I was Banded in Nov '07 and by Jan. '08 I knew I needed to exercise so I joined an indoor pool. I went early in the morning when there were only elderly people there and I walked and jogged and swam for 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours 3 times a week. I wore a bathing suit the apron kind with knee lenght shorts underneth, and once your in the Water no one can see you anyway. It was the best thing I did for myself! I have not been to the pool since Nov becuase I work full time now, but I got the Wii Fit for Christmas and I LOVE it! You can do it if I can! Good luck with your surgery, it's one of the best things I did in my life for sure! Good Luck!

Hi Maziemommy aka Kimberly, WOW 200 pounds in a year and a half! WTG! I am down 139 I was banded Nov.07. Do you exercise? I must admit I don't. I know it's bad and I need to. I am really going to try and be better about it. How hard was it to get to yout goal? I hardly lose a pound a week BUT I will take it as long as it is down! I am going for a fill Jan 14th, I have not had one since June. I know that will help too. What do you eat on an average day? Thanks!

Hi daqui26, The band is a WONDERFUL tool! I was nervous too, but try not to be everything will be fine. I LOVE my band! The weight comes off faster in the begining and then levels off to maybe a pound a week, at least for me. I can pretty much eat anything IF I cut it up tiny and eat SLOWLY. The best is you will only want a tiny bit and you're full! My BMI was 66 I am only 5'2". My Dr would not touch me until I got my BMI below 60 so I went on a liquid diet for 3 months. This has been a great journey for me so far, I can't wait to get under 200 pounds! The best part is I KNOW I will an so will you! Good luck on your surgery and keep in touch!

Hi, Good luck on getting your date! Can I ask what exercises you do. That is one area that I have not been very good at, I used to go to an indoor pol last winter and walk run and swim for at least 4 hours a week but once the summer came I got away from going and just can't seem to find the time to go anymore. I know just an excuse, but I just dont like going anymore. Thanks!

Hi Erica, Congrats on your band! It is truly a wonderful tool! I LOVE mine, sure I have my bad days but as a whole I could not be happier. I feel so much better now it is amazing! I could hardly walk before my surgery because both my knees are bad. I was going for injections every few months just to make it bearable. Now I can go shopping and walk around like most people. I still need new knees BUT I can walk arund without being in tons of pain. I wish you the best on your new journey, it's a wonderful trip! Good Luck!!!!!!!!

    Slow Losers Unite!

Thanks Donna, I lost 42 from Aug to Nov before the surgery. I went on a liquid diet for the 3 months before. The Dr would not touch me until I got below 60 BMI. I lost a lot in the begining and as I said only 10 lbs in the last 3 1/2 months but I am still very thankful! I know I need to exercise now BADLY and eat better. A fill would sure help too.

Good luck, I know I need it too! I have only lost 10 pounds since Aug 1st, but it is my fault. I stopped exercising and I need a fill but I am waiting for Jan. so it can go toward 2009 deductable since I pay 375 for a fill! Best wishes

    Slow Losers Unite!

My Turn, I was slow the first month then it started coming off BUT I only lose maybe a pound a week. That is normal a pound a week. Some times it comes off a little faster but just take your time it will happen! I also go through where I lose 2 and gain 2 and lose 2 until they finally stay off. I have only lost 10 pounds since Aug. 1st but it's ok, it's still ten pounds less that I will never have back. Just hang in there it does come off. Also the slower you lose the better chance you have of the skin getting back a little tighter. Best Wishes

starting BMI over 50? come on in!

Hi April thanks! I am very happy, I was shooting to lose 100 from my surgery date but I lost 90. Close enough, I had lost 42 before it, all I know is I am down 130 and thats great! I wish I could get myself to exercise! I was going to the pool 2-3 times a week before the summer then I just stopped. I know it would help my weight loss a lot! I have slowed WAY down because I am not exercising at all...bad I know. I have only lost about 10 pounds since Aug. You keep up the fantastic job and keep in touch!!
