    Decisions Decisions

You need to be true to your self and make yourself happy. Don't be a prisoner to the insurance company. As a nurse you give of your self every day to others. Now it is time to GIVE TO YOU!! Follow your heart ...for the new position and the surgery!!! Go for it!!!

    No Pre-Op Diet...?

I too did not have a pre-op diet. I had many "last meals" Since my surgery was the day after Christmas and I was on a clear liquid diet on Christmas Day. I put white grape juice in a wine glass =-) My surgery went well and I was totally ready, did not feel deprived and did great post op. I feel great and this was the best thing I have EVER done for myself!!!
  7. I too had 3 C-sections with midline incisions ( belly button to pubic bone) they actually made one incision in the scar. It did have soome bleeding for one day but otherwise no problems and smooth sailing. I would not worry!!! Good Luck!!
  8. What you are feeling is normal. I work in medicine and really questioned if I was doing the right thing. Remember other than sites like this, the internet is scewed for negativity. People who had a bad experience in anything want to be heard. Yes things can happen but if you review this site you will see that most of us did great. It is major surgery so having realistic expectations is important. Good Luck to both of you!!! I am sure you will do fine!!
  9. I love spicey refried beans...they were delish!!

    Biggest Loser

The Biggest Loser and Extreme Makeover Weightloss Edition were shows that actually help me make my decision to have surgery!!! They are very motivating and I applaud them for having kids on the show this year. I however determined I needed the tool of RNY to achieve my goal as my life is hectic, stressfull and exhausting. I simply do not have the time to exercise all day long, cannot afford a personal trainer or a cook. I admire all those who can make the changes on their own. I simply could not. Yesterday we had visitors and we offered snacks. They knew I could not eat and so there was no pressure. It was kind of relaxing to not have the pressure to "be polite" and join them!! No will power was needed!!! I think I am going to love this!!

    weight/lift restriction

My restriction is nothing over 10 lbs for 4 weeks...they will advance me at my next appt. I do know someone who got a post op hernia and he said that was worse than the WLS!!!
  23. Just started soft...pureed tuna with a little garlic and onion powder, salt and pepper with light mayo so much better than all the sweet stuff!! Tomatoe soup with milk a little italian spice and basil cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. I have added some unflavored unjury to pudding, cream of wheat and yogurt. Wish I couldn't smell it. I like the Wendy's chili idea and going to try that!!! I see these as my staples for the journey.

    Protein

DL, Thank you in advance for sharing you hard work putting the list together. Would you kindly forward me a copy to czink@rochester.rr.com. Thank you very much. My surgery was 12/26/2012
  25. Agree with Vicki... stay ahead of the pain by taking your pain meds and continue walking...it will get better .You may want to take a stool softner 2 x day too. This prevents constipation which you can still have even thou you already had a BM!! Hope you feel better soon!!
