  1. Hi guys i'm 5 days post op and haven't lost one pound yet' date=' actually by time the surgery was over on Monday I was 265....(WTF).... 20 pounds more then my surgery weight, hopefully in the next two Weeks I will lose 10 pounds..[/quote']

You gain weight after surgery bc of all the swelling and fluids they pump into you. It toom me a week to get back to surgery weight.

  2. Wow' date=' you are doing well getting a mile in! I have been doing mainly strengthening and resistance. Just my everyday routine still exhausts me, but not to the point of needing naps. I will be out for half the morning tomorrow with my first post-op visit, so looking forward to checking weight.[/quote']

Thank you. I'm determined to get this weight off and everyone at my surgeons office said the people who exercise lose the most weight. So that's why I'm frustrated with this stall so early.

  3. Don't get discouraged' date=' buddy! It's called a stall and completely normal. I personally need to get excercising a little more. Still slight discomfort but doing well otherwise-- Went out today to bank and post office. Doesn't take much more than that to tire me out. So I came home and rested and I'll be back up and doing a little more soon. As long as you follow protocol, the weight loss will catch up. I am on pureed and savoring every morsel. Amazed at how little I paid attention to anything I ate before. Now I love and appreciate this new way of eating. I even use the smaller utensils, plate, bowls etc...[/quote']

Thanks. I'm walking a mile everyday and only having Water and Protein Drink. So since I'm eating nothing and exercising I know I have to lose weight eventually, I just want it to hurry up. Lol

  4. Well' date=' I woke up thinking it was Friday, so guess what! I weighed. It's been exactly one week today since my surgery. Oh, and I have a question. Do you count the day of your surgery as post-op? I'm asking because I've noticed some new ppl counting it and some not. I'm a newbie, too, of course.

Anyway...... I'm down 10 lbs. plus the 5 gained in the hospital from all the fluids, etc.[/quote']

I count the day of surgery. I've been weighing every morning anf today is 9 days post op. I haven't lost anything in 3 days and I've been walking a mile everyday. I am so upset.

  5. If you are taking percocets for pain' date=' itching is a side affect.[/quote']

Nothing for pain. I know itching is a sign of healing but I'm itching around my incisions not on them. Basically itching everywhere I don't have incisions from low chest to just below belly button and all the way across. I think I would rather have pain bc atleast I could take pain pills to help. Ugh. I also haven't lost any weight in 3 days. I'm stuck at 226.

  6. You too' date=' I was just reading a post on some that are 4 days out talking about eating mash potatoes and gravy purée I don't get it. I thought for the first few weeks you can only have Water and Protein shakes? It's getting confusing to me. Yes I know it's going to be hard to give up those carbs but these will be the same people 4 months in that will say they only lost 20 lbs so far. And duh really maybe don't eat mash potatoes and gravy.[/quote']

    Lol. Amen

  7. The itching started yesterday in just a couple of spots' date=' so far I have been able to control myself. I haven't put anything on my belly because there is still all this glue on the incisions and I didn't think i should mess with that. I just keep telling myself it itches cause it is healing. Not sure how long that will work. lol[/quote']

Mine started small but now its every where and constant. It wakes me up every hour. I have the glue too so I've been putting lotion around all the incions since thats where it itches any way. It is nearly unbearable now.

  8. Do they put the I'VE for your morphine drip in your arm or in your hand? Also does everyone go home with one of those drain bulbs or whatever it is? I have seen several post about them taking a drain out and hurt pretty bad when it did

I had no drainage tube at all. My iv was in my arm and they put in my morphine through my iv when I asked for it.

  9. So glad to see every one is making it through the surgeries without complications. Makes me less nervous. All of you get well soon. And hope everyone stays healthy and full of energy

I went home the next day. I was up and walking 3 hours after surgery. I was getting in fluids just fine and had good urine output. Walk asap after surgery, it really helps.

  10. Oh I'm not really. But if you read some of the post made by the younger then 35 folks talking about when can they drink alcohol again. And about partying I feel that they just don't get it. This is a very serious surgery. I understand about cravings and temptations but you just can't give in to them anymore. Be healthy be happy and look good forever. I do try to read all the post but wonder if some are just phoney baloney you know? Sometimes. I can't believe what I am reading when I see a post from someone 2 weeks out talking about eating fries and chicken it's like what the hell were you thinking and then my pouch doesn't feel good today or I am having alot of dumping today. It's so sad. And no I don't mean it's all the young people. They just need to grasp reality. It's only a tool and like all tools if not taken care of properly it won't work.

So true. Then when they fail and gain all their weight back they tell others not to have the surgery bc it doesn't work. I get so angry at people who think this surgery is just taking the "easy" way out. It's not easy. We still want all those bad foods but we now have a tool to help us. We have to exercise and eat healthy just like everyone else. Good luck to you on your journey to your new healthy life!

  11. I do know its my decision' date=' trust me on that. i just want to hear from folks who have had it, putting aside the yonger people who are under 40, because hell yea i would be excited as all get out to be able to get my groove back and buy new clothes and find a good man, but I am not looking for any of that. I am 56 years young married, and have a grand daughter. i just want my activity level up and just feel good. I am not looking for depression answers that isnt what i mean. I just want to know after it is all said and done are YOU happy? i appreciate all the good tips advice, and comments. Oh i am having the surgery dont get me wrong. next time i take my 5 yr old granddaughter to the zoo, i want to be smiling the whole way around it and pushing her to the next place.[/quote']

I know I'm under 40 but I'm happily married so I'm not looking to get skinny to find a man, I have one. I do want to look better for him even though he says he loves me no matter what. I had cancer so I've had a hysterectomy so can't have more kids either. I did this for my health and my daughter. I'm not a young mom and my 3 yr old is all I'm gonna have. I need to have energy for her just as you do for your grandbaby. So please don't discount us under 40 who have good testimony.

  12. thanks yall' date=' it really helps talking to you, I have faith that god will see me through this. My endo just scared me yesterday so i had all these questions come up

    thank you[/quote']

I was tachycardic and diabetic and have depression. I'm only 34 and get fat till 10 years ago but could never get the weight off. I even had lapband and that didn't work. I'm only 8 days post op of removal of band and conversion to bypass. I have a 3 yr old that I need to run around and play with. My blood sugar has stayed btwn 80 and 90 so already no more diabetic meds and my heart rate is now normal. I already feel so positive about everything and have so much Faith that this time I will get all my weight off.

  16. Glad your doing ok. I'm getting really nervous. I have surgery today at 10:30 and I'm starting to get really freaked out. I wasn't nervous when I got my lap band but I'm getting scared now. What if I don't make it out of surgery... ugh... I need to stop freaking myself out....
