Magic Mountain verses self control and preopp diet
kat77 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I win.....with lots of prayer! Went to Magic Mountain today to celebrate my daughter's 11th birthday which is on Feb 11th lol.....but since my surgery is on the 6th....I didn't want o ruin it for her.....anyhow, it was so hard to be there and be on my shakes....I had to get premixed ones to take with me (disgusting) but with God's help I was even able to walk most of the day. We can do this you guys.....it feels good to say..." I am choosing not to eat that because my surgery is important to me, my health is important to me, I have started a new life and it is my choice to not overeat.". I am paying for all the walking now.....but I am so thankful God gave me the strength to resist temptation and to be able to walk. All my disabilities keep me so tired and in pain.....but today was wonderful....we can all do this. I can't wait till Feb 6th....today showed me that I really am ready for this. -
My weight is every where, but I am afraid to be hanging everywhere....I think the key is exercise and lots of toning....all we can do is try....emailed you back by the way....sorry it took so long, my letter will explain.....
-
I am terrified about how I will look when this is all over, but hopefully I will be able to exercise more with the weight loss. I haven't bought a swimsuit in years.....that's a great idea....summer will be here before we know it.

Protein shake pre-op diet
kat77 replied to JackieBNates1503's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get easier....I've been on 2 shakes a day and one small lean protein and veg a day .... For 2.5 weeks and have 1.5 weeks till surgery. I believe sticking to it will help with how things will change after surgery. I had a few screw ups, but we have to get used to eating less, drinking more and having self control...we can do this. God bless you both on your journeys Kat -

Burnt out on taste or energy? If its energy, take the vitamins recommended by your surgeon....especially vitamin b-12. And lots of water....when you are dehydrated...you feel tired.. That's all I got for you on energy...as for taste...I'm burnt out on taste as well....cant help you there....hope you get some answers and feel better... Kat -

I got my previous op labs done today. I see my surgeon this Thursday and preregister for the hospital Friday the first. Then I will find out my surgery time for the 6th. I am so hungry. I can't wait to be over the surgery part and feel satisfied. Went to a really nice restaurant with the family and ordered fajitas, but just ate about 4 oz of chicken breast and about 1/2 cup of the grilled peppers and onions. I had to stare at the tortillas, rice, beans, sour creme and guacamole. It sounded so good, but I have to get to 268 by Thursday and that is with clothes on at one in the afternoon. I am at 269.4 naked in the am....so I figure I need to loose 3 more lbs to get there. Just 12 and 1/2 days till surgery.....oh boy.....nervous.

Hi misty! I'm on the 6th too! Are you excited? I am but nervous too.
-
That is so great! I hope I get a private room....I don't think my hubby will stay, but I really would like my own room. God bless and take care on Friday! Kat

That's what we are all here for right...we need each other to get through it successfully. I am getting nervous about my surgery too.. I have only 14 days to go....

i don't know why he wants you to have 6 a day....so it is hard to say. mine has me on 2 a day with at least 30 g of protein in each and a lean meat and veg for dinner. but i would say to follow his instructions. when i make my family meals i just prepare theirs first and then make my shake and eat with them. for dinner i usually only have part of what I make or something entirely different depending on what i make them. the key is meal planning. plan your time and meals so that you can eat with your family and not feel left out, and so they can enjoy your company....its to easy to hide in the bedroom when I cook them something I cannot have, but i figure i better get used to it. i hope you find a way to manage it all. i know it is hard to be a stay-at-home-mom...I am one too, and having to prepare 9 different meals is no fun.my surgery is feb 6th BTY

Made it under the 200 mark!
kat77 replied to mullberry7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so happy for you. That number is a big one for me too. I have only been under 200 once in my life, for about a week. Congrats on your success, I can't wait fr people to not recognize me.....but I better take some before pictures so I can remember how I never want to be this weight again. So happy for you! Kat -
Why RNY and not the sleeve?
kat77 replied to lisaarellano's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That was a deciding factor for m too. Also with the silastic ring I'm getting, there is less chance of weight regain. A lot of people regain because they lose the full feeling or stretch out their pouch or new stomach. The ring helps prevent that -

im sorry to hear you have high blood pressure at 21....hopefully this will get that under control. I am 35, was 5'10'' but lost 2 inches because of my degenerative disc disease so im 5'8 now. my highest weight was 324 and i am now 272.8 i have to be at 268 for surgery pre-opp appt. on jan31. im on two shakes and one meal of lean protein and veggies a day until surgery. he already has me off dairy, no carbs except for berries. so im already started but he will take away fruit and veg after surgery -
Hello, mine is one the 6th too.... are you on shakes yet? How are you feeling, we only have 16 days left. i am nervous. there is a thread called fabulous February....we are all in there

I am glad to hear you did research too. we all have to make the choice that best fits our bodies. I chose rny because i have lupus and need to get the weight off for pain reduction. i felt it was the best choice for me as well. my surgeon offers a silastic ring that goes on the pouch and helps people not stretch out their pouch. he will not do the DS surgery, but he does conversions from that to RNY. his weight regain % is very low,but he is aso very strict with vitamins and food. nothing but lean protein for the first 75% of weight loss. when you reach that you get to add vegetables back and when you get to maintenance weight you get most fruits back. i like his plan, he has a high success rate if you stick to it. I am excited but nervous. what kind of insurance do you have? i am on SSI so i have Molina Direct. do you have a good support system through your doc and family? that helps with success too. -

hi there It sounds like you are doing everything right....I know it is hard to wait but now that you have most of the requirements done, hopefully things will go smoothly for you. when is your doc submitting to the insurance? may i ask why you decided to switch? just curious. -

My doc said to avoid driving as much as possible for the first month, but absolutely no driving the first week. Doc said they use drains if necessary, but don't use them always. depending on how much meds you were given,, you may wake up with a catheter. my doc says he tries to have them removed beforee we wake up. of course this is only what my doc does...different docs follow different protocol.
