  1. Been stalled for 3 weeks...grandmother passed this week and looked for comfort in food (as usual)...after dumping ...I took these to remind myself of where I started

I lost my grandmother last week. I'm so sorry for your loss. Every time you think food is the answer to your grief, get up and take a lap around your house, take a sip of Water and think of a happy memory of your grandmother. I stopped eating when mine died so I did the lap every 15 minutes and took a bite of something. Eating does not soothe your grief. You know that sweetie.

  2. My surgeon thinks its either an over active nerve cluster where the port for an instrument was or an undissolved suture (which I have a history of). He shot the area with lidocaine (which hurt and didn't work) and prescribed a pain med called Neurotonin that calms nerve endings. I'm doing this til my 2 month appointment' date=' and if there's still pain I will go anesthesiology for more precise injections. If all else fails, more surgery.[/quote']

It's gross looking and gosh it hurts.

  4. I need ideas. I'm on the puréed food, but I tolerate soft foods fine if I chew well. However, I'm starving. Literally. I am 3 weeks 5 days post op. I've lost 40 pounds. My grandmother, to whom I was incredibly close, died on Tuesday. I haven't been able to tolerate anything other than a few sips of Water now and then. Everything else comes right back up. I'm taking all my anti-anxiety and antidepressants, Vitamins, and anti nausea medication. It stays down less than 5 minutes. I'm on the verge of being admitted to nsg feeding and IV fluids, but I can't stand the thought of being away from my family. I'm so heartbroken. Any ideas for comfort food that my pouch might tolerate?

  5. OMG!!!! I'm in shock. Your brother did the gastric bypass 10 years ago' date='and is now 700lbs how much did he weight before over 1000lbs? Why did he go into bad habits. You know what after reading this. I'm not even taking a sip of soda here & there. Gaining weight is my biggest fear, but reading this scare me so much seriously. I'm glad I read this. I'm sticking to my snapple tea decafe cafe, crystal light and Water.[/quote']

He weighed a little over 500 lbs before the surgery. He got down to almost 300 before he started gaining again. He eats more for a snack than i did in a day before the surgery. He can't fit through doorways easily, and takes up 3/4 of an average couch. He's got unchecked sleep apnea and diabetes because he won't go to the doctor. I know I'll succeed because I will never make the same choices he did.

  6. Carbonation scares me. My brother had an open bypass almost 10 years ago. He followed no recommendations and taught himself to drink soda as the first slide down the hill. He weighs over 700 lbs now. After soda, it was fatty foods, then sugar, then increasing portion sizes. I just think getting into any of the stuff we aren't supposed to have leads us down a slippery slope.

  7. You wrote exactly how I feel. The scale finally started going down but it's barely back to where I was when I went in. I am not losing and I thought I would be. I'm so scared.

It will get better, I promise. I am 9 days post op. I had complications following surgery and was in the hospital for three extra days. When I came home I felt horrible, had buyers remorse, and wasn't losing at all. The past couple of days I've felt well enough to walk, get all my Protein and all my Fluid. I was 334 before surgery, 329 on Monday and am 311.4 today. It will come off. Let your body heal...you've just had major surgery. It will happen when your body decides its time.
