Where is everyone from?

Auckland, New Zealand
2. I am what might be called a modern day witch or 'pagan' and not once have I thrown any of my kids into the fire (although sure is tempting during school holidays) and man point me in the direction of the sex orgys cause in my 20 odd years of practise haven't come across one yet.
3. My MIL recently lost at lot of weight I think it has aged her by about 10 years!! I do think she has maybe lost too much as she has started looking like a wrinkled ballon thats had all its air taken out.
4. Hope everyone had had a wonderful xmas!! Yay reached xmas goal 10.5kgs (23 pounds). First two just before surgery second taken today. Can't see much difference yet. Hope this works and the pics are the right size......
5. Need some advice. I have been looking through my food diary and looking at when I was losing well and consistently. I am getting very frustrated about how slowly my weight is dropping especially when a month or so ago I was a 1kg - 1.5kg a week. Anyway what I found it that when I was losing the best amount of weight I was eating around 1400 calories a day (The weight loss site I belong to put me on 1580cal for weight loss so just dropped a bit from there). I have dropped my calories in the last month to 1200 because I thought that this is the aim with having the band. But since I have done that I have been a)hungrier (SP?) - can't get fill because found didn't handle last one well and had to have a slight unfill and b)losing weight a lot slower. So do you think that I should try going back to what worked last time or I should just stick at the lower calories in the hopes my body will catch up? I am starting to see some evidence of 'starvation mode' maybe? Bex )

New/Improved Band

I have the new AP band - banded 9 Aug and so far I have had four fills to get great restriction - up at 5.8ml. I think they can fill more aggresively first out with these bands as they hold more and so getting to good restriction doesn't take as long.
7. I have 6mls in my 10ml band and have great restriction. Got there after 4 fills - 1 x 2.8mls, 1 x 2.5mls, 1 x .5mls and my last one was .2mls (a couple of days ago) just to give it the extra kick. I am now nearly four months out and finally the weight is starting to shift.
8. Have you recorded your food and calories, cause really even if you are eating half you still might be eating too many calories. Simple science really calories in vs calories out. So if you are now eating 2000 calories instead of 4000 and not doing any exercise you are more than likely still not going to lose weight. The band is a 'tool' to help you, not the cure.
9. AARRRRGGGHH! I set the poll up and came out before I had finished - anyone know how I can edit it!!!!

I have a headache!!

It does go away - its like your body going through withdrawls. How long are you on it for?

Gurgling

He he I to started to gurgle - my kids call it the grumblies. I know this sounds weird but I actually found that it was when my body wanted something - food, drink. And stopped soon after. Before I got the band I was never hungry because I was constantly eating so I figure maybe this is how its suppose to work because now I can truly get hungry.

Why Arent I Loseing??!!

Also the reason I try and keep it at about 1200 is, I admit, scared of the starvtion mode. Now I know some people don't believe in it but I just don't want to take the chance in one day having to have my band removed and my metabolism is shot to hell (lots of scientific evidence to support starvation mode) - I also would rather eat more and just exercise I love food way too much!!!!!

Why Arent I Loseing??!!

I found that I eat around 1200 per day and do about 30 - 60mins of exercise a day and I will eat back my calories to stay at 1200 and I have been losing weight pretty steadyily. I tried to drop down to 1000 but lost nothing, think everyone is different - try playing with calories - try some weeks dropping by 100 or so, eat back calories, then don't eat back calories. Guess that experimenting with our bodies is all part of the journey. I am sure none of us put on the weight overnight so take some time to play around to find what works for you.
14. My surgeon and lap band consultant work on the "green zone" system and its great we have a big consult before any fills take place and my consultant goes over my food diary and I have to ask 'zone' questions to figure out specifically where I am. Its great because I know they are truley listening and doing the best for me and my band not just filling or unfilling because I asked for it.

biggest insult ever-sex related-from dh

I actually think this is very band related as body image is very much tied up in the band and that is really what this post is really about. I agree with laurend the title warned everyone before they got any further. Back to OP - This is a form of emotional and verbal abuse - nobody has the right to talk to you that way!! And don't get me started on what a selfish shite he appears to be!! Ask yourself could you spend the rest of your life being talked to in this way and would you be okay with your child to be in a relationship when they are older with a person who treated them in this way. Girl, kick him out of the bed - go out and enjoy your newly banded body, I am sure there are many men out there who will be more than willing to *please you* and have the time of your life - you deserve it!!!!

Kicking the addiction...

I feel ya. Had a crap day today and what's the first thing I did - came home to eat!! No hungar just the food but I agree with Jacqui the 'binges' or pig outs are not what they once were and I don't think there is one person who goes through life and doesn't use food at some stage for something other than hunger. Thats what our culture is we use food to celebrate, medicate, out of bordom - you name the occassion and there is probably food in there somewhere. I think the great thing about the band is that you don't need to suffer the mental anguish of 'failing' a diet and stuffing yourself until you feel sick - the mini 'falls' don't turn into majors and the damage done to our brains and weight are not as drastic. I too have had the last week or so wishing I could eat more (the xmas celebrating is already starting!!) and what I wouldn't give for a Burger Fuel burger, I have also had to acknowledge the use of food to stuff down emotions and its hard dealing with the emotions but its something that has to be done if we are going to succeed in this journey. So I have been keeping my eyes on the prize and after seeing Jacqui's bikini picture (!!!) I am even more motivated to beat these food demons.
17. Wow you look amazing!!! 40 - no way that must have been a typo. My husband was looking over my shoulder when I clicked on this post and just saw your photo and said 'Man that chick is going to have a rocking 30th with that body!!!' You go girl!!
18. I found the ignore threads option but not the ignore forums - seems like the easy option to me then nobody can complain if they 'accidently' (yeah right) end up in a forum they don't want to be part of.
19. Okay - have started this poll before because my last title might have confused some people and results would have been out. Thought it would be interesting to see if there was any link between lap band slippage and post op diets. Please only vote if you have HAD a slippage so we can get an accurate result.
20. Scorpio - through and through!!!
21.
What if when you signed up you get to put a check next to the forums you want to take part in - and this could be changed whenever - so really you can only the ones you wanted to and asked to see. That way old or new you can make the mature choice for yourself.

22. Okay have started new poll for those that have actually had slippage or complications! He he teach me for trying to do something I had never attempted before. But for rest keep answering this poll it would be interesting to see how many actually follow their post op diet.
23. Oops maybe the title I put is deceiving - this was meant for a poll for those that HAD had a slippage and to find out if there was any link to post op diet!!

"Know-It-Alls"......bug me to no end

Josiebies - know how you feel (he he you probably have seen my rant post!!) however realised that some people will always talk over others and that's their issue not ours. I agree with what someone else posted about just putting them on your ignore list - my life has been a lot quieter since I did it )
