Thinking about an East Coast Bash

Hey Penni....i'll try to make it for the walk but that is my bday weekend and sorta tentative at best...I will however definitely join you guys for a show if its open.
  2. Hey guys, I recently joined the NY running club and someone introduced me to this c25k plan (couch to 5k marathon running plan). I LOVE IT! Thought I would see if anyone else is or has used it and what your experience has been thus far. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

    Couch to 5k Plan

You're not getting off that easy Vine...I'm a 44DD and I wear 3 bras to run...i'm sure i've stopped a few people in my time. Still pondering the reduction but havne't lost enough weight to justify it. If you do decide to do it let me know your thoughts and progress.

Thinking about an East Coast Bash

Hi all, I live in Jersey City off the waterfront so i'm about 10 mins away from Manhattan. Please keep the thread up as I'd love to meet some of you. Also if any one talks to Vera ask her if she is going to try to make it.

    Restriction after surgery

I most definitely had restrictions right out of the box withmy band. It was odd and my fill person is telling me that its impossible but...restricted I was!!!
  6. gypj

OK, this fill is IRRATATING me!!!

I went through the same thing...my restriction finally kicked in tonight while chewing on some garlic broccoli. I thought EUREKA!!! Jumpin Jehosephat....FAITH AND BEGORAH...it's here...not as much as before my fill but its there nonetheless. I'm not going to fight it. It will kick in...take heart.
  7. I use Centrum liquid vitamins and Viactiv chews for calcium (since I am woefully lactose intolerant). The Viactives taste good (but very carmely) and will help out...because of my lactose intolerance I am a bit panicky about brittle bones when I get a lil older so its the oly way I can address the question of calcium deficiency.
  8. Gosh Corgi that's awful...I hope you are babying your throat with liquids for a bit to allow it to heal...if not you are putting yourself through a vicious cycle of pbing, swelling and reswelling. Please don't be discouraged...I know its hard but it'll get better. Be well.
  9. Okay guys...I've read a ton of fill threads so I apologize in advance for starting a new one. Today I got my first fill...I was fully expecting to feel something...the fill person was very nice and had been recommended to me by others. 2 hits and missed the port completely (okay now I understand how that can happen). So we go to lay me down completley as opposed to a semi-lay thing and we find the port....no problem. I go immediately to find something to eat (i'm starved) and figure out ho wmuch restriction I have...I was able to eat an entire ham and cheese omelette without a lot of chewing or fanfare...now this may not seem like a big deal except for the fact that not less than 2 days ago I was pb'ing because I tried to squeeae in oatmeal after 2 eggs. Today i can eat an entire omelette. Where is the fill? I literally can feel things running out the stoma...this is not what I was anticipating and I am freaking out right now...I don't want to but I am. My first notion is to call back to Mexico to get a real fill...My second inclination is to go someplace and have a barium swallow and do it again but I just spent all this money for initial consultation and fill... Please please please someone resond...I know I wasn't suppose to have restriction initially but I did have some and thought perhaps I was suppose to have more...can you unrestrict a band with no fill? What can cause a loosening of restriction immediately AFTER a fill?
  10. Vera is right...no holes, just no restriction anymore...I was comfy with my restriction and okay with the notion of no chicken or been and chewing...now I am back at square one again with absolutely no restriciton. I'm giving great thought to going back to diet pills until I can get this thing fixed...I'm not a happy camper
  11. I think Vera was telling me that her person does barium and is somewhere like Utah...maybe i'll get his information and see about an additional fill.
  12. Me too...I feel like I should have left well enough alone and left the darned thing empty!!! Cripes...what was the point in spending all this money if I just suffered a total reversal!
  13. No she charges 175 everytime...which I'm willing to pay if she will put me back but she only normally does 1 cc at a time and since i'm at .8 and she will probalby not even give me 2 cc's and she talks about having to unfill people all the time...i'm ready to hop in a plane and to to MX just to get a true fill...what a bummer!!!
  14. .8 because she said I already had some restriction and she didn't want me to have problems. I don't get it..I've lost the restriction I've already had? I only tried the eggs to see how much additional restriction I had...I don't understand this...maybe I should have left well enough alone and went with the restriction?
  15. I too am a huge fan of Dr. Sanchez...he is patient and caring and has been willing to answer all of my questions...he even answers his own cellphone and various questions....His staff is friendly and understand english (most of them) and the hospital is fabulous...I a more than satisfied with the entire procedure and post op care...and I was a self pay too.
  16. I'm so very sorry about the re-replacement...I guess now though you'll be TBV instead of double. On a serious note...please take care of yourself. If it means removing the band and just winging it, then do that...your health is much more important than the band and you are beautiful inside and out and I wouldn't change you for the world.
  17. *sigh*...i'm so frustrated right now...i've been literally working 7 day weeks as of late and spent all this money on a gym that I can't get to. By the time I am heading home these days its 10 at night and i'm ready to fall head first into the bed. I feel like I'm defeating myself and my band by not aiding with exercise. My mom and friends tell me to get up earlier but frankly given the long days I have I am loathe to do that and still have to get home late at night...I'd be burning both ends of the candle. The one thing I have thought about was leavign a little bit earlier and getting off one stop before my train stop to walk teh rest of the way to work but that doesn't really seem to be much in the way of exercise and I'm only seeing about a pound a week drop. I still have some restriction (especially in the morning) and i'm due for my first fill on 4/29. Also, I know that the first month isn't about losing weight per se but I just want to feel like I'm progressing...I want beautiful after pics with tight shirts and hip huggers like everyone else and i'm so excited about the prospect that I feel like I should be doing more...Wahhh wahh wahh. Where are you Vera? How's the house?

    I had a fill on 04/16 (Help)

Hi Esmerelda, Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I hear tell that the first days after a fill are a bit difficult and you have to baby your stomach for a few days. I hear tell further that with the disruption to the stomach and the general trauma can be troublesome for a while...give it a few days of swigging Protein and i'm sure you will be as good as new. I get my first fill on 4/29 and already know that its back to liquids for me. Feel better!
  19. I went to Dr. Sanchez in Monterrey, had a great experience and am healing nicely. That said I have heard of horor stories of others who had questionable medical treatment. The hospital Santa Eglacia (sp) is beautiful and well maintained. Even my mom I (who went with me) and was tremendously skeptical was impressed. I have since spoken to Dr. Sanchez and his staff and he has been accessible and very personable. I would have no hesitations in recommending him (and his staff). To the person who asked about why people go to MX, my entire procedure including airfare was less than 10,000, the medication was readily available and I enjoyed a FABULOUS, almost mini-vacation while in the San Piedro mountains. I have friends who went elsewhere but I made an informed decision to go to MX which I firmly stand by. Even though it may not seem like it to some, there is a MARKED difference between 8 and 12,000. Just my lil ole .02 cents...HEY VERA!!!

    bmi 34

There are doctors who will work with a lower BMI Lisa...don't be discouraged.
  21. Not familiar either, but who is your surgeon and your coordinator...maybe we know the doctor from previous affiliations?

    Missing for awhile

Hey Vera, Congrats on the 8 pounds! Good luck on the pending litigation.
  23. Hi Brenda, I'd love to see your pics...I don't have any yet but i'm going to do one month post pics at the end of the month.
  24. Vera got rebanded while when we met in Mexico a few weeks ago. We fondly refer to her as DBV (double banded Vera)...maybe she can share her experiences.

    Constipation Revisited

I was told no Metimucil or Citrucel because they have psyllium which will stretch your pouch. I just drink the citrium magnesium (taste like yucky 7up)...and some Water...that normally does the trick within an hour for me...warning...it gets rid of EVERYTHING...I thought perhaps because of the carbonation I would have issues but nothing at all happened and i've done it twice since being banded (10 days on this week).
