  1. I think it was the cream of wheat. I was sick for more than twelve hours. I have since had a shake with stevia and no issue. The thought of cream of wheat even gags me a little at the moment. I got a little queasy tonight, but nothing severe. More like annoying. Took a zofran and it helped immediately.
  2. I'm doing well...how did it go for you?
  3. I have been going over what I did differently besides the second go round of c.o.w.. I know I had unwittingly had tea that said, "may have caffeine." I just though it was herb tea. I had stevia in it. I wonder if either of those caused this. I'm still not feeling good.
  4. I'm almost 2 weeks post op. Everything has been going well, just started puree stage. I had a minor constipation issue days ago. But otherwise was tolerating things well. I stayed at family member's house this weekend. I brought all my supplies, with me, except when I got stuck on my dinner, I just repeated what I had earlier, cream of wheat. (I tried adding Protein powder.) Big mistake. Looking back, it was too much carb, and seemingly Fiber and lets just say- constipation problem solved. I guess I can take away that I fell back on an old habit: eating whatever in bind and not planning well enough. After a miserable hour, I feel much better. I was feeling great about not being too tempted by birthday cake this weekend, only to be betrayed by cream of wheat and stupidity. This is definitely a learning process.
  5. Best wishes to all those up at bat this week. Remember the first night is the worst, but it gets better everyday. Stay on top of your pain. Walk when you don't want to. Ask for simple comfort measures when you need them.
  6. It's hard, but worth it. I feel good...and it's one day. That's not to say it's easy, but I'm eager to make all my supporters proud, and I can assure those who follow me that your imagination is often worse than the reality. Pre op sucks, but you won't notice after. Good luck!
  7. Doing well. Very sore, but better than I thought I'd be. I am NPO (nothing by mouth) but I can swab my mouth with ice water. Just the little bit of water I swallowed there told me there were big changes in my stomach. I had a little nausea this AM, so I got zofran and it's gone. I was walked very briefly, and after I sat I felt better. Catheter working better now that I am up. I hope things keep going this well.
  8. I'm sore as Hell, but it's done. Being model patient, in spite of the pain I feel better than anticipated. Still NPO for now, but even the tiny bit water I swallowed from the swab was felt in my pouch. Odd feeling.
  9. Ugh.. surgeon had an emergency. Delayed a few hours...
  10. Waiting...surgery in an hour or so...
  11. This post is huge! Thank you! Ready...
  12. Yes...in Peoria. I'm in day 4 of Clear liquids.
  13. I'm from Peru, work in Ottawa...I'm nearby too...
  14. Oh that headache can be a nasty one. My surgery is Thursday, and my doc has his patients do 5 days of clear liquids. I'm grateful it's short and he allows protein shakes, but I am really struggling tonight. I had a full blown, kick in the head, vomiting kind of migraine the first night. It cleared, now I am just a little fuzzy brained and really tired. It's easier, but it's hour to hour.
  15. My doc has me doing clear liquids for 5 days, but they said it was to reduce the size of the liver and prevent injury to it.
  16. I agree with Pam. I'm almost done with Day 2 of clear liquids. I can have any thing I can see through, like AmandaD said and protein shakes mixed with only water. (I mixed unjury chicken soup flavor with broth and it was a god-send.)
  17. I just wish I felt better. Its been a rough day, not just craving, but headache. That's been the worst. I'm hoping it improves tomorrow.
  18. I was very adamant initially about keeping it a secret, but eventually gave up on that. With the exception of two people, I have received amazing support. I needed it just to help my nerves. After years of looking the same- overweight- I'd be sorting through so many excuses.
  19. I'm having surgery the same day. I'm nervous too...my husband is scared. I think it's normal. I'm sorry you don't feel support from other people in your life. Message me if you need to...right now we have parallel lives!
  20. It just depends on the surgeon.
