  1. I have had stalls too. I was starting to graize some and not always make the best choices so I started cracking down the last few days and dropped 3 pounds. Unfortunately I have developed a hernia at the incision that had been infected postop, so I had backed off my exercise some. Just got an elliptical and that doesn't seem to aggravate it, and doc gave me the ok. Looks like I have another surgery down the road. He wants to wait as long as we can, because the more weight I lose, the easier the surgery will be.

  2. I took 6 weeks, mostly because I could. I'm a nurse, work 12hr shifts at a hospital. I needed the break from work because it had been super stressful. I had an infected incision that was reopened one week postop and was not completly closed again until about 6 weeks. I figured a hospital is not the best place for an open wound. Physically, I think I could have went back at 4 weeks.

  3. HELP!!! I have gained weight since surgery..they say cause the fluids and aunt flow..but is that true a paradoxal (sp) affect with a lot of meds..am I having one with this surgery..

I started my period 2 days after surgery (it was early) . I weighed myself the next morning and I was up 8 lbs from the morning of surgery. It took my the first week to get back to my preop weight. Definitely a combo of all the IVF they gave me and my period!

  4. Hi! I'm doing really well, feeling good. I've lost 45 lbs since surgery, a little slower than some on here, but I'm OK with that. It was rough at the beginning, I had a lot of pain the first couple days and had an infected incision which was frustrating. I have been lucky and have never thrown up and have only been nauseated a few times (mostly the day after surgery) . My advice is the same as most...walk and sip, sip, sip. Its hard to get all the fluids and Protein in at first, but every day it gets easier. My struggle now is eating slowly. It was easy at first but I find it harder as time goes on. Sending good thoughts your way.

  5. I'm a nurse too, its crazy being on the other side, isn't it? My nurses were great too, and I had a couple awesome nursing students. I saw them more than I thought I would (had heard stories - I work at a pediatric hospital and we have to check patients more) . I guess I was lucky as far as the barium swallow - my surgeon only does them postop on his sleeve patients. I did have one preop and I really feel for you having to do it postop! Hang it there - the worst is over.
