  1. Great guy. I ended up with an open RNY due to

Scar tissue and an incisional hernia 7 months later and he did that repair laparoscopic in Nov. Make sure u write down all questions so u don't forget at your appts. He is a teaching Dr so u will have residents and student nurses in your surgery and possibly performing it. They are the ones who come see u first thing after surgery. Keep up with pain meds and walk, walk, walk!

  2. Dr Price is a great surgeon and MT Carmel West is their Bariatric place to go. It will be one year next month and I just had hernia surgery Nov 19, that Dr Price also did. It was an incisional hernia from the bariatric surgery because mine ended up as an open RNY. I call myself a slow loser, but an happy with results. I have 25 lbs to reach my goal weight, and giving myself till May 2014. Good luck all

  3. Hi All! It's been forever since I have been on here. I have been stalled since Aug, as well. I have an incisional hernia from the Open RNY, so surgery is Nov 19th. It has been very painful with vomiting and I still don't lose. Everyone is saying I don't eat enough, but I feel okay. I get about 900 calories in daily and at least 50 grams Protein. I have not worked out for over a month, so I am sure that is not helping me! Need absolute motivation after surgery to get walking until I am cleared, then I am joining Zumba!!!

  4. Heather, I have watched your journey before and after my surgery on 2/14, and u have been an encouragement to me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and being open and honest. I have lost 42lbs and have been stalled for 30 days with no loss. I do the Zombie 5k 4-5 days a week and use Fitness Pal and nothing. Do u have to put whey Protein in your diet, as well as "food" Protein? I reach and average of 65-80 daily. Just frustrated at 180.2, and I too have an Iron pouch.

  5. Babs396 and Cecilia, I feel your pain. I have stalked the page for awhile but have not posted lately, just struggling with how slow my whole weightloss process has been going. Surgery was 2/14 and I was 217 and am now 180-182 scale will not move from these numbers for weeks. I get 900 calories in and workout 5-6 days a week doing the Zombie 5K trainer, elliptical, or bike. Fluid is hard to get everyday, average is 54oz! I see doctor July 5 and will do my labs last week of June and I will be honest, I hope something shows up on thyroid because I don't know how you can so 900 calories and not lose for a month. Just so depressing. I was hoping for a thin summer. I know I have lost weight and I feel good, I get compliments, just hard to read everyone's high losses and wonder what the heck is wrong with me. ????

  7. I had Rny 2/14 and starting weight was 217, and as of last Friday 191. That is 26lbs in 2 months which is slow!!! My surgery was open with over a 6 inch incision and 5 small incisions in a failed attempted of laparoscopic due to old scar tissue. I have dieted for over 6 yrs with minimal loss so this was it for me at 45 yrs old. I was a slow to get exercising but have started vigorously and increased Protein. I have to work hard for every pound loss even with the surgery, but it is coming off with 800-1000 cal I do a day and at least 70g Protein.

  8. I hope I did not offend anyone. I just have my experience of losing very minimal and I was in a rut not eating "properly" early on. I just wanted to give my change info to encourage not judge!! When anyone puts what they have eaten, good or bad respectful and encouragement is what should be offered. No one is perfect and everyone will have many emotional challenges in this journey. I didn't eat a lean pocket, but ate sugar free ice cream and nut roll with no issue. I wish I could dump, but I don't and I had or have 5 one inch incisions and a 6 inch incision in the middle of my so called abs. I got very depressed and recover was horrible. I thought I made a mistake during the rough days, but I am better now. Talking with the surgeon, nutritionist, & a few close friends, and this app with some amazing encouragement, I back!!! I guess I needed a big kick in the buttocks. I feel almost normal now, still have some incision pains and swelling which doc says is normal. I only meant love and encouragement.

  9. Just start a new day. My surgery was 2/14 and I get hungry and can eat a larger amount then most based on this sight. My Doc went against what the Nut says, and told me 3 meals, not 6 small and No No No snacking even in string cheese etc.,,,if I feel hungry drink and nothing else. That was last friday at my 6 week appt where I only lost 4 lbs in 4 wks!! I have now exercised everyday for one hour walking and jogging and have lost 9 lbs in 4 days!!!

  10. I have been trying to get 80g Protein everyday for about a week, that along with 1hr walk, jog, sprint workouts is paying off. I lost 15 my first post op and 3 weeks later only 4 lbs ;(!! But so far from my appt Last Friday I am down 6 lbs!!!! Thanks to all you guys for your support and encouragement!!! I just needed a swift kick in my behind. This weight loss is not as easy as I originally thought, I have to work hard for every pound lost!
