  1. Hi! I am 28 and had my surgery 9/25/12...I started at 364 and am now 273.9. I would be lying if I said the journey was easy but being 3 months post op I would say my life is mostly back to normal and I am enjoying my new body. I was lucky to have supportive friends but in the beginning no one really understood what I was going through and that is when I found this site. It helps to have people who know what you have been through and going through to talk to. I also do not regret having this surgery, your surgeon should go over all your stats with you so you can make an informed decision.

  2. Nurse Jen- I'm assuming you are a nurse? So am I ! Where r u living now. I believe Norwich is north of Syracuse ' date=' right?[/quote']

Not a nurse yet I'm in Nursing school :) I am a CNA though part time, banker full time and in the RN program part time :) What girls of nursing do you do?

No Norwich is 2 hours Southeast of Syracuse. It's one hour North of Binghamton.

  3. Hey everyone' date='

I could use a little encouragement. I'm self-pay and have been flying through the process to have the gastric sleeve. I was totally jazzed and not scared at all. Skip to Friday when I meet with the surgeon and he tells me that my BMI is too high for the sleeve and he really suggests the RNY. We discussed it at great length and I KNOW he's right. I KNOW he is. But I'm starting to second guess surgery all together. I'm mostly afraid of complications and death. But I"m also afraid of dying from a heart attack in my 30's due to my weight. So yeah. Just having an off day and need some encouragement.

Also, as a side note.... the Bariatric Advantage pre-op Vitamins are TEARING up my stomach, anyone else?[/quote']

You will be fine ;) I had mine in September, I am 28, weighed 364 lbs and my BMI was in the 50's. All I thought about was death but it is very rare. Today I am 292 and have lost 31% of my body weight and I'm only 6 weeks post op. I feel great and am so glad I did this. Don't psych yourself out, this surgery is life changing.

  4. So glad you called' date=' and since it still hurts I hope you have some pain meds to carry while your monitoring? Take it easy, I hope all is well in the end.

SD: 10/10/12, Converted from Lapband to RNY, HW (before band) 263, HW (RNY) 230, Preop 219, after surgery 223, current 209[/quote']
