Wow...I cant eat a half a potato and I am 6 months out. Aren't the carbs too high?I'm now working out 3 times a week and feel like the carbs help with my energy. I'm choosing to include a very limited amount of carbs, but I do eat from every food group. I figure balance is important, this new way of eating is for the rest of our lives. Proteins are still my primary source of food, but variety is the spice of life! Enjoy.

Hi Crystal, I'm Patricia. I had my surgery at Toronto Western on Sept 5. So far everything has been great. Are you home already? Good luck, if there is anything I can help with let me know. The first few weeks were frustrating. Make sure to not over due things, I remember getting tired so quickly. Take care.

You can eat a whole potato? ESP with chili on it?If its a small potato, I can eat a whole one with only half of the small chili on top. It takes about 30-45 mins.

Been awhile since I've been on here I'm 8 week post op. still having issues getting food to digest properly. But I'm losing which is amazing. So Jan 2012 I started at 304 I'm now 229. 268 at surgery on aug 29. Love the reaction I'm getting from friends and family but most of all I love my new body and lifestyle would not change for world!!!!Congrats! Sounds like you are doing great. I'm from T.O and I had my surgery on Sept 5. Sounds like we are at a pretty similar place. What foods have you been having problems with digesting? Hope things improve for you soon. Good luck.

yeah the chili is on the list of foods surgeon said I can eat during this stage and it is like pouch friendly for now as we are to introduce new foods as trail and error. the small chili has under 300 calories and I eat on it like all day and it has 20 something grams of Protein so with me having to get 80 in. day surgeon said I still have to drink Protein shakes as I will not eat enough to get the protein in. I called the office to make sure as I was really worried about this. so when given the all clear I went and bought 2 more for the next few days lolI eat just about a half chili over one of their baked potatoes. Its high in protein and low in fat. I think it's a great fast food option, if you have to have one! I'm 9 weeks out.

Hi all Canadians
I'm Patricia from Toronto. I had my RNY on Sept 5 at Toronto Western Hospital. Amazing staff and experience overall. My starting weight was 228 and I am currently 171.

I was in the hospital for 5 days after surgery. I was excessively tired, I couldn't have imaged going back so soon. I took six weeks, my job is very physical. I've been back to work two weeks now and I'd have to say it was the perfect amount of time. I really needed the afternoon naps I was taking after surgery. Rest is vital for a good recovery.

I love my Starbucks lattes. I have a tall non fat 1 Splenda latte. I treat myself once a week. I was never told to completely cut caffeine out of my diet. I have reduced, but not eliminated. I have already cut all sweets, couldn't possibly cut my coffee.< /p>

Hi tbooks
So far so good. I had a bit of a rough start. Had serious blood loss, which lead to a couple of blood transfusions. It was pretty scary, but I had an awesome medical team around. I was glad that it happened before I was discharged. As for weight loss i've lost 18lbs since my pre-op shakes. Only 8lbs since the surgery, but loss, is loss. How has your journey been?
