Thanks, but I haven't had any milk or Protein Shakes since before surgery. I'm on a clear liquid diet until Thursday at which point I can start having Protein shakes again.

My tummy hurts ???? Everyday at some point, my stomach will really start to hurt, feeling gassy and rumbling. Then before I know it, I'm running to the bathroom w/ watery stool. This goes on for hours! And I'm running to the bathroom 10 times. I'm on a clear liquid diet until Thursday when I start full liquids and Protein Shakes. I'm so uncomfortable. Is this normal, and is there anything I can do?

Ugh I'm day 5 post op and I get diarrhea everyday too. It's debilitating, because all of the sudden, I don't feel well. Then I lay down, my stomach starts rumbling and then I will be in the bathroom like, 10 times all evening! It's really a bummer. Also, I'm not even having any Protein yet. I'm on Clear Liquids til Thursday, then I start full liquids. Help!! So uncomfortable right now ????

Thanks, I guess I was just feeling this way because I made my family dinner and they were all eating. Just had a moment of weakness. It's not that I'm hungry, cuz I'm not. I guess I was just missing a time when I didn't have to worry about it all.....
-
I'm not hungry at all. But I find myself thinking about food today, missing it. I'm also getting a little stir-crazy as I've been in the house for a couple days. I wish I could just EAT. Is this normal? I don't want to fail.

My surgery was Oct 8th and I'm on Clear Liquids for the first week, then I introduce Protein Shakes. I also started to have diarrhea today, and a lot of gurgling coming from my stomach, which is normal. Your stomach is still raw and all cut up. It needs some time to heal. Every surgeon is different tho.... I'd call and ask questions, but do NOT stop drinking Water, because you don't want to get dehydrated!!

I am 3 days post op, and I had a 2 week diet that consisted of 3-5 Protein shakes/day, unlimited non-starchy vegetables that could be seasoned w/ soy sauce, teriyaki, worstershire, hot sauce, etc. NO OIL, fats, carbs, etc. if I was desperate, my nutritionist said I could have a lean cuisine, as long as I was under 1000 calories/day. Over the course of 2 weeks, I had 3 lean cuisines, and lots of vegetables. My surgeon said my liver looked great the day of surgery. I think you'll be ok!

Yes, I am out of surgery. Everything went perfectly! Only problem I had was stabilizing pain when I woke up from anesthesia. I have walked a couple times, and am eating ice chips. Not gonna lie, I'm in a lot of pain. But- no pain, no gain!

Thank you all so much, I'll post later w/ an update when I can ❤️

After years of contemplation and research, I am finally ready. I go into surgery at 12:45 today. It's definitely a monumental day, the first day of the rest of my life! Prayers for the best outcome possible are welcomed! Thanks ❤️

I like chocolate. Right now I have Syntrax Nectar in Chocolate truffle, and vanilla. I use the vanilla and flavor it however I want, by adding pumpkin pie flavored stevia drops. You can also flavor using Torani sugar free syrups (many different flavors!) I first started by ordering samples, which was a lot of fun. Recently I have heard people raving about the Inspire brand Protein Powder, so I just ordered Inspire pumpkin pie Protein powder, because I love anything pumpkin. See photo below from my bariatric pantry.com where you can order a sample pack for 19.99.

I'm responsible for 10% of the surgery cost, and I have to meet my $100 deductible by the day of surgery. I had to pay $150 total to see the psychiatrist and nutritionist. I think you will see that it's different for everyone.

Same to you @@BayGal Mine is Thurs. I still have you on our October list of Surgery's!! Best of luck to you!!!
My surgery is Thursday too!!! I'm SO excited, and a little nervous. But- totally ready!! Good luck to you!!!

What does a typical day look like food wise for you? I'm on my 2 week pre-op diet, surgery is in 3 days. My diet consists of:
3-5 Protein Shakes/day w/ 8 oz skim milk
Non starchy veggies seasoned w: soy sauce, teriyaki, hot sauce, vinegar, mustard, etc. I can also use the Italian dressing packets that you make at home MINUS the oil, just the packet, Water and vinegar.
sugar free Jello, Popsicles, and Water ice.
So far I have lost 10lbs within 11 days, 19 since my highest weight in July. Give it time, you should see the scale move!

Hey! Yes, I got the English Toffee, and still waiting for the pumpkin to come, it got delayed. I have to be honest, I felt like the English Toffee had a really funky aftertaste ???????? I'm hoping the pumpkin is better!!@@Grace2115 So how's the liquid diet going? Did you get your flavored liquid Stevia and if so, do you like it?
liquid diet is going well, I've lost a lot of weight!! I have 2 days left then surgery is Thursday. It's been really really hard. I've had good days and bad. At first I was very moody/emotional. I felt like I was detoxing from food!! Honestly- I'm so sick of this diet, I can't wait til it's in my past!! The thought of eating another vegetable makes me wanna gag, Lol!! With that said, I'm feeling great, and fitting into clothes that I haven't been wearing because they were too tight!!

Thanks, surgery is in 3 days!!! So excited!!! Still no period, and negative tests. I'm thinking the drastic diet change has taken its toll. I'm down 19lbs from my highest weight.

They will test you before surgery. I had to take a pregnancy test at my preop testing and again day of.
Thanks. Still no period, and negative tests. Ive chalked it up to stress on the body and I'm just not going to worry about it anymore. Surgery is Thursday!!! Super excited and ready.

Thanks, ladies. I am allowed to have non-starchy vegetables, and can cook w/ cooking spray in addition to 3-5 shakes. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that I'm able to have veggies, because I know some people cannot have really anything. I'm just having highs and lows with this diet. It's so hard!! Not easy to be cooking regular meals for my family, either. My nutritionist said if I absolutely have to, I can have a Lean Cuisine, as long as I'm under 1000 calories. Not usually a complainer, but WAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Lol!!

I'm really struggling today, day 6 of my pre-op diet. Yesterday I was feeling so good, full of energy. Today, I feel like I can't get enough, I'm so hungry! I think more so, mentally I'm just really feeling challenged. At the end of the day, I JUST want to eat something!!!! ????

Hi Cheri, that's my fear, too. But, it has taken me years to get to the point where I am finally ready to change my life forever, so I KNOW I won't gain it back. I went for a consultation 3 separate times before I ended up choosing bypass. I spent years contemplating, researching. I'm currently pre-op, on my 6th day of the 2 week liquid diet, and surgery is 10/8. I am so ready, and at peace with this life changing decision. I hope you find your peace.
