OMG Whats that smell?!?!?!
TMI alert!!! I prepared my husband for the smells before I had surgery and I'm a month post-op now. Incredibly, my poop never smells. I'm totally serious. I mean it smells a little, of course, but its nothing. I don't get it. Before surgery it was way grosser than it is now. I wonder why?

How long does laprascopic RNY surgery normally take.
Mine said it would be 1.5-2 hours and I think it was 1.5.

Recent July post-opers?
There is a chewable gas-x. I had surgery July 1st, didn't really have gas pains but had that referred shoulder pain for 4 straight days.

ISO 22/24 casual clothes
Anyone have basic size 22/24 clothes they want to get rid of? I'm shrinking out of my clothing so fast! The Goodwill/Salvation Army around here really has nothing in plus sizes, and I hate buying new stuff when it won't fit very long.

Upstate New York? Anyone out there?

Chinese Food
I had Chinese food last night! Beef and broccoli with sauce on the side. Went down very well, and totally hit the spot! I am 4 weeks post-op. I think I'm going to eat the leftovers for lunch in a few minutes!

UHC?
I have UHC, and my bypass was covered. My husband works for CEC Entertainment (they own all the Chuck E. cheese locations). Employers can choose what options to include/exclude. Maybe your insurance rep meant that none of the plans offered by your specific company include it? That's too bad. It happened to me about 5 years ago when my family was covered by my employers insurance, they just didn't cover it at all. When my husband finally moved companies to his current one and we went with his coverage it was included! Good luck!

Help with chewable vitamins
I've been swallowing pills since post-op day 2 with no problems. Currently I swallow 7 per day spaced out, one at a time from AM to PM.

Coffee
I've heard the Chike flavors taste good. I have the chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and unflavored from Unjury and they taste horrible! How does the Chike compare in taste to unjury?

Soda stream
How does it stretch pouch? It would seem impossible because the bubbles would take the path of least resistance, ie as a belch or flatulence. I'd love to know exactly how it stretches the pouch.

Soda stream
I just saw a Soda stream commercial and they now have Crystal Light flavors for it. I know not to drink soda anymore but would this be ok? Is carbonation ok for us to have occasionally? The machine just uses water, the Crystal Light flavoring, and a CO2 canister. Thanks.

Weight lost?
I've lost about 26 pounds in the past 3 weeks since surgery. No one notices I do notice that my clothes are looser, my shoes are looser, and my boobs seem smaller, but no one has said anything to me yet.

What ya eating tonight?
- What ya eating tonight?
Had 1/4 cup ricotta cheese topped with pasta sauce and 5 little chunks of honeydew melon. Delicious doesn't even begin to describe how good the melon was!- Surgery and a catheter
I didn't even have a catheter for surgery! He said he wouldn't bother since it was only 1.5 hours. In recovery room I had to pee so badly. They put me on the bedpan, I couldn't use it, it's quite unnatural to pee laying down. I begged them to let me get up, they told me no. Once I got in my room I was immediately up with help and walked to the bathroom. I was in some serious pain but I didn't care, I had to pee! I got up a few times that evening/night to pee, nothing too bad. You'll be fine either way- medical alert bracelet website?
Was it Lauren's Hope?- What to bring to the hospital
Don't bring much. I wore a baggy outfit and velcro sandals on surgery day and just kept it to come home in too. I probably wore it all of 3 hours on surgery day until I changed so it wasn't dirty. I brought toiletries but didn't take a shower until I came home. I could have taken one on discharge day but I figured I'd wait until I got home. The only beneficial things I really used was Chapstick, pony tail holders, CPAP machine, toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant, slippers. I just used a second hospital gown as a robe when I was up walking in the halls. I brought my Kindle thinking I would read but it never came out of my bag. Even during the day I was so exhausted from being woken up all night for vital signs, bloodwork, etc. I really didn't do much other than walk around and sit down to watch TV.- July 2013 - Post Op Thread
On post op day 10. Feeling great. Actually walked exactly one mile outside today in 29 minutes. Might not seem like alot but it was a great feeling for me. Going to do a repeat tomorrow and hopefully every other day too. No problems getting in between 66-72 grams of protein every day. Down about 21 pounds according to my home scale. Loving life- What ya eating tonight?
Might sound weird, but I have always loved cottage cheese sprinkled heavily with pepper! Try it!- July 2013 - Post Op Thread
I'm doing great. Got 60 grams of protein in already today and I still have to eat dinner. I took my daughter over to my parents house for a bit and both my parents commented that my face looks thinner already. Woo hoo- July 2013 - Post Op Thread
- Surgery Dates for July
Stay on top of them! Don't go off the diet, keep the faith, and hound that surgery scheduler like a hawk until the insurance company gets what they need. Did they tell you what they were missing?- Lifting restriction
My restrictions were nothing more than 10 pounds until first post-op appt, now nothing over 15 pounds for next 30 days. - What ya eating tonight?
