    Back Pain!?

Best idea... Talk to a doc... Newbie post op, you don't want to mess around, just in case...
  4. It is a challenge but I'm up for that!
  5. Sounds like a stricture... Relatively easy fix... Keep after your doc, especially if you can't keep thing down.
  6. I'm from Sacramento, CA... However my hubby and I are now OTR truck drivers, so we go all over now.
  7. I'm sort of in the same pickle... I've gained back about 35 pounds with a change of career to truck driver... VERY sedentary without much chance for exercise. I'm trying to go back to basics and limit my intake like I did when I was a fresh post op... Hard though... Driving for 8 hours, I tend to munch and nibble... Sigh...

    Food!

My surgery was April 7th, 2009... My highest weight 320, lowest 160, current 200-195... What I can say is I am now HEALTHY and that is way more important than a number... However I am trying to loose about 20ish pounds I've gained since changing my profession to truck driver.

    Rising Blood Sugars

What do you use to mix them with? Could it be a reaction to juice or milk? I have some reactive hypoglycemia, but I can trace that back to carb intake. When my BS drops, I get the shakes and lightheaded feeling. Do you have a BS monitor?? Maybe check your numbers...

    Eating At Family Events..?

What I have done is bring a dish that can be shared, but that I know that I will be able to eat... I can still put other food on my plate and cut it up and push it around if need be... However just being there and sharing in the family activity is usually enough... Unless you bring attention to your plate, you might be surprised how little other people will pay attention.

    Well One Week Today I

Most important think when you are early out is keeping up with your fluids... Protein you will work up to. Awesome on the Honey-do's... You need to teach my husband!! LOL!

    After Surgery

I am now three years out... I was surprised at how little I ate right after surgery and still function!! And it saded me, because it made me realize just how much I had over eaten for YEARS!! Oh how I greaved for the amount of food I was able to eat before... At times I still miss that, however, I so would not go back to the weight I was just to eat that amount again!! Thankfully it is a marathon, and not a race, because I have had some regain and need to refocus myself.

    How Do You Know?

At first I had head hunger. The nerve endings get cut, and the part of the stomach that produces the "hunger hormone" is in the remnant. So you really don't 'feel' hungry. That's one of the good/bad thing about this tool. Good, because without that hunger prompt, you can measure your food and stop eating because hunger isn't egging you on. Bad, because if you get busy, you don't have the hunger prompting you and you can forget to eat... If you do 'feel' hunger there is a good possibility at you are becoming dehydrated, or developing an ulcer... At least that is what I have found...

    50's

Hello... I'm 50, but had my surgery 3 years ago. Best decision we (my husband had an RNY 20 days after me) ever made!! Healthier now than we've been for years before surgery.

    New Here

You are doing great!! Losing is a stair step process... Lose, pause, lose, pause... Also everyone loses at different rates, that's why it's wonderful that this experience is a marathon, not a race
  17. Hi all... Since I'm reading I thought I would introduce myself. My surgery date was April 7, 2009. My highest weight was 320, surgery weight 270, lowest 160, current 190ish. During the first two years I was able to be active and 'exercise'... Now I drive truck (with my husband who also had RNY) and have been having several challenges with eating, and especially exercise!! My daughter pointed this forum out to me. I use to be very active on two different forums, but due to time constraints, I don't participate like I use to... So I will most likely lurk for the most part, but every now and again I might toss in my two cents worth.

    Has Any One Cheated

I never cheated on the liquid, or purée, but when it came to the 'soft' I did my first experiment with cheating.. With bacon!! I love the crunch part of the bacon fat... So I took a little nibble, then another and another... Needless to say it made me very nauseous and I ended up having a bit more respect for my pouch ... At least for a while...
