  1. I have decided to postpone my surgery which was to be 10/29. My mother passed away suddenly and unexpectedly nearly 2 weeks ago. This has been a great time of stress and grief in my life and I'm just not ready for another shock to my body. I will reschedule a few months down the road once I feel like I'm ready to handle the next step in this journey called life.


  2. Now that I am on a high Protein diet in preparation for surgery (date yet to be determined) I find myself getting very excited over the protein content of food. I was at the grocery store looking at some pre-cooked chicken and steak strips, both had about 20 grams of protein in them. I think I let out a verbal 'WooHoo!' Am I just a iittle strange or do others get excited over high protein content?


  3. After seeing the dietitian yesterday and following her instructions of eating high density Protein with crunchy fruits and veggies I am amazed at how well that satisfies me all day. I'm very thankful my doctor does not require a liquid pre-op diet but I do need to be as healthy as possible. I am also to take 5 minute walks 6 times a day. I was able to easily sneak away from my desk and walk around the bottom floor of our parking garage 3 times today. I made a '5 Minute Walk' playlist with songs around 5 minutes long. One day at a time...anxiously awaiting a surgery date. I'm very thankful for this support! Guess I'm just kind of chatty today...thanks for listening :)


  4. Atkins and Southbeach are low carb. Atkins is high Protein.

    Exactly what my dietitian said. High density Protein, crunchy fruits and veggies and high Fiber, low fat/low sugar grains/bread. She said Aunt Millie's was a good brand of bread to buy. Just make sure there is more Fiber than fat and sugar.


  5. Thank you for bringing this topic up! I will have a lot of loose skin too and am willing to try different things. In addition to exercise and Water, I'll definitely try some of the ideas listed here. I have 200+ pounds to lose and lose skin has been on my mind a lot lately. I'm over 40 and the youthful elacisticy I'm sorry to say is fading away.

  7. So i am 5'4 about 260 pounds (I will find out for sure on Wed at my pre-op). My goal is 135-140. I am not sure what size that is' date=' but i am hoping its between 4-6. My doctor said i will probably be between 130-145.[/quote']

    I can't wait to be able to ride a roller coaster, fit in a stadium seat without pain and bruising, fit comfortably in an airplane seat and buckle the seatbelt without having to use an extender, walk without pain, and be able to use/do anything without having to worry about a weight limit. I. CAN'T. WAIT!!!


  8. Mine was a combination of things many of what has been mentioned here. Personal hygiene is becoming difficult, my knees are extremely arthritic and I've had a lot of breathing issues lately. I've thought of bariatric surgery for years but now seems the right time. God keeps holding the doors open and everything is falling nicely into place. I know it's going to be hard work I know this is the tool that is finally going to give me hope!!

    I never thought about looking at Women's fashion on pinterest! I just took a look and saw some super cute things! It's slowly sinking in that I'll be able to wear things like that. I could cry!! (happy tears!!)

    LOL! I was asked the same question. I chose 175 because I remember I weighed 181 in the 8th grade and wanted to be less than that. Right now I'm 5'7 and 394. Highest ever was 402...I about passed out :(. So 175 sounds like a dream! I also find myself looking at 'regular sized' clothes. It's exciting to think about!
