  1. Well I'm now 10 weeks out & the bacteria infection I had in early Aug was back in early Sept. Just finished another 2 week round of antibiotics. I have also had a stomach barium X-ray, Esoph manomtery & an EGD. I still have difficulty eating & cant seem to get enough fluids down. I also seem to be lactose intolerant & never was before. food won't go down & stay down. I really feel like I have ruined my life. I see the GI doc again tomorrow, just not sure what he can do for me. It's sad to think I will feel this way the rest of my life. So YES, I definitely regret doing this.

    Complications W Mexico Vsg?

I was sleeved 7/9 in Mexico by Dr Garcia. On 8/3 I was admitted to the hospital for a bacterial infection, C Diff, that the ER doc said I got in Mexico. I was hospitalized for 4 days. On 8/29 I felt I'll again so my GI doc ordered a stool sample. The infection is back & I'm on a large amount of antibiotics. I'm on Vancomyacin & when my husband went to pick up the pills, the pharmacy said "you must have good insurance" The retail price for 56 pills is $1750! My cost was 10$ Also since my surgery, I have had to have a GI swallowing test, ct scan, EGD, & an Esoph manometry because I can barely get in 3 cups of Water a day. I eat Soup, mashed potatoes, Popsicles. Dificult to drink Protein shakes, I keep having slimey stuff coming up. I'm on Prilosec twice a day & never had issues with reflex before surgery. With also eating very little, I have no energy to do anything. I don't blame Dr Garcia or even going to Mexico. I could of gotten the C Diff from a hospital in the US. I regret having the surgery since I have had so many issues. I guess what I really want to say is there isn't a lot of follow up from the Dr 's in Mexico. Make sure you have good insurance so you can be treated in the states if needed.

8 Weeks Out, Still Having Issues

Ok, an update.. Since I was feeling so sick on Thursday, had chills, diarrhea, low grade fever, the GI doc wanted me to do a stool sample again. I was hospitalized in early Aug for C Diff, a bacterial infection. Thy think I got it when I was in Mexico for my surgery. Wel I got a call on Saturday from the on call gi doc & my C Diff is back.. I'm now on more antibiotics & he said I might have to be seen by an infectious disease doc. It feels like I have the flu, achy, not hungry, no energy. maybe when I actually get rid of the infection, I will feel better. I can't believe Im going through this, never thought I would be the one to have issues. Thanks for all your replys!

8 Weeks Out, Still Having Issues

I forgot to say I'm also a revision. Band placed 2007, lost about 60lbs but had issues with sliming, not being able to eat meat, salad, veggies so it was removed in 2010. I gained back 40 lbs & then was sleeved 7/9/2012.

    Sweaty And Shakey

I get those symptoms when I haven't eaten or had enough fluids! be careful you don't get dehydrated!
  7. I went to Mexico & have had some issues. I have Blue Cross & am having no problems being seen by Arizona docs. I was hospitalized for 4 days & having more tests next week, it has all been covered. They wouldn't cover my surgery because of my 37 BMI with no comorbidities.
  8. I'm 6 weeks post op, I take 2 Prilosec a day. Never had heartburn issues until had this surgery. It makes it very difficult to eat, drink water. I get horrible stuff that comes back up.. I'm scheduled for an EGD next week!
  9. I was sleeved 7/9 with Dr Garcia.. I sent a deposit & brought a cashiers check with me. I brought the cashiers check to the hospital & had to ask someone what to do with it, no one asked for me it! The care I recvd was great, I was in no pain! Anyway, I do have issues but I dont think it is anyhting done by Dr Garcia.. I think im in the 1% bracket who is just having issues with eating, drinking.. I have lost 24 lbs, but now seeing a GI doc for heartburn, acid reflux & have an EGD, esoph manometry scheduled for 8/29.

    Acid Reflux/heart Burn Post Op

I never had acid reflux before my surgery & I would eat all kinds of junk! I have it so bad now that I'm scheduled for GI tests in 2 weeks. I had surgery 7/9 in Mexico & was able to see a bariatric surgeon a week ago thru my insurance. She said I may need a revision to gastric bypass to help the reflux issues. I don't think I could go thru anymore surgerys right now. I just want to stop the reflux, nausea & be able to get food down.
  11. I'm so sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope things get better for you soon. I am having issues but not as yours. You Are not alone in this !
  12. Im also scheduled for these procedures in 2 weeks. You should be put to sleep for the Egd & will be awake for the manometry.. I am freaking out about the manometry, they need to put a tube down your nose & you are awake. Im only 5 weeks out & having trouble keeping things down, I can tell im eating more since my surgery but just feel so nauseated all the time & horrible gas, heartburn..I keep hoping I will start feeling better & wont need the procedures. Good luck, take care..

    Stricture - Help!

I am so sorry you are going thru this.. I was sleeved 7/9 & have also been hospitlized once for hydration & bacterial infection.. I was also tested for a stricture but was ok.. I just saw the Gi doc & now he wants to order more tests, he is concerned I may have a stricture in my stomach that wasnt seen on the upper Gi test. I dont know what to do anymore.... I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers...

    Bad Acid Reflux

I have just been advised by a baristric surgeon to take 2 Prilosec daily for my heartburn. I am now going to take one in the am & one in pm. she also said that if it doesn't go away, the solution would be to have a revision to gastric bypass but that would be along way out! I don't even want to think about that. I am also seeing a GI doc on Wensday so hope to have more info. I have never had heartburn, reflux b4 surgery, but it is really bad now & makes eating vey difficult.
  16. I would also have to say I Would not do this again. I was sleeved in Mexico 7/9 & then was hospitalized with a bacterial infection & hydration 8/3 for 4 days. I also have horrible acid reflux, gas all the time which I have never had before! Getting my Protein & Water in is still a struggle. I have also missed about 4 weeks of work & am due to go back 8/15. Maybe I should reply to this in a couple of months!
  17. I havnt had to send a payment in yet! I did have to send them a copy of a check so it will be automaticlly deducted every month from my checking account.
  18. i agree with you, Water tastes terrible to me. I was always a big water drinker & now can't stand it. I keep buying things to try like Mio, but still has a funny taste. why would this happen?
  19. Rainy Girl, I was going to ask how you were feeling & think I copied your post in error. I defiantly feel your symptoms cuz I have them too. I still drink out of a 2oz glass& I can barely get Water down. I got out of the hospital today & see a GI specialist next week. Take care!
  20. Hi, Well my deal was to put $ 3500 down & finance in house for 2000.00 I'm a revision so my cost was $5500. I had been saving for a few months & ended up only needing to finance $1000.
  21. I had Dr Garcia & went thru their financing program. All went well! My credit isn't too good also! Good Luck..
  22. Thanks for all your replys.. Ihad surgery with Dr Garcia but I don't really blame him. you can get c diff from taking antibiotics, I guess they knock out all the good stuff in you & you are susceptible to getting other kind of infections. I just want to start feeling better!
  23. My surgery was 7/9 & I'm in the hospital right now writing this. I have developed a bacterial infection in my colon & have C diff.. I went to the ER last night cuz I have had difficulty eating & drinking anything. I felt I was dehydrated & was hoping to get some fluids. They did ct scans & said my surgery looks good but may have picked up the infection in Mexico. I have such a hard time getting food & fluids in! I know exactly how you feel. I Am hoping things improve for you & me.. Take care.
