Today I went to bluepoint for my dietician and doctor appointment. I have had my issues with some people at the office and today was no different. I think they just plain do not like me. Not everyone but at least two are cold curt and borderline insulting. I am an advocate for my own health care (what nurse isnt) and I ask questions. i do not know if this can be resolved but I am not taking it sitting down. When they ask me how it is going I say fine except the way certain people treat me. If I get the chance I will write them a evaluation that is truthful. I do not think I am unreasonable but maybe i am. either way BE NICE it wont kill you and it goes a long way when dealing with people having a major life changing surgery sheeesh. Ok so I am excited and nervous but not to bad yet. I am in day three of my two week optifast (adjust by me of course) diet. I had reduced 12 lbs per my PCP's scale then the bluepoint scale said i gained back 5 lbs. At that time i was doing less then 2000 calories a day low carb no cheating. I was like F this and had a candy bar. What is the point of being good and still gain. Not a good attitude I know. I admit the candy did not taste as good as I thought it would and I got back on track pretty quickly. my FINAL meal pre op was sunday night. I went out with the family to my old favorite italian restraunt and had pasta spinach soup and lovely italian bread and desert but i forgot about the brownies i had at home and didnt have one. I made my son take them the next day once I started my optifast diet. I was proud of myself for not eating those! Today my wt at bluepoint was back to the 12 lbs reduced but the scale fluctuated to a 2 lb gain (I guess I was not being still) I about freaked out. The girl weighing me was a bit unfriendly but I think she was feeling unwell (cough or cold). Then there is the MRSA issue. I have been concerned that I will have an active site near my surgery date and maybe get a systemic infection even though the worst one I had (left leg) that required 5 days hospitalization never cultured positive in my blood. I mentioned it to my doctor he was not concerned since I have nothing active right now. The nurse at the hospital said I must have a swab of nose and throat prior to my surgery. So I am working on that now.

I actually am pre op and bought the opurity by unjury I gave its stats toward the beginning of the thread. Seems comprehensive will be discussing it with my dr tomorrow. The taste wasn't tooooooo bad may need to test a few to find the one I like not that I won't be using all the others cause of the cost.

hi everyone I like the way the list is looking half of us are post op whoooo whoooo Today I got a call from my std company and I am set until nov 5 per my dr recomendation. 6 weeks off 5 weeks paid at 66% hope I make it financially. I live with my son and he will be working overtime to help with bills(he is 26) plus I live in a house owned by my father so he might be inclined to give me a break on the rent during my time off. I own a home in TN that i rent out for 300 less then the mortgage so i have that expense i must meet. plus the tenent sent me a 24 item repair list last month that sent me over the edge. Once i called her and sent her an addendum to the lease detailing what repairs are my responsibility, a pet addendum (she has 2 lg dogs and no pets was written into the lease), and a clarification of late fees (i never got the rent on time or the full amount since she moved in) she begged me not to add pet trent to the lease. I agreed and things calmed down. I authorized her to use the 250 pet deposit for the repairs and relented on the pet rent an additional 25 per pet per month. In return I hope she stops nit picking the house and gets a boyfriend to do the maintainence she wants(i am so not her rich exhusband). we are both single moms and talking to her helped straighten out the issues(I did get septs rent in full on time) whew! I am glad to have a tenent that wants the house t be nice and will keep it nice better then the alternative right? So I have a lot of ducks to get in a row before my surgery and things seem to be falling into place.

ok got lots to say Melissa- good luck Maria- always nice to hear the insides are looooking good (i am saying that with Rocardo montebans voice) jess929 keep breathing you are doing great, glad they changed your meds. jessica(janelane) you look so nice in the pic if a bit scared/nervous by the time you read this it will be all done! yeah! Lailani I thought I had written your name in on the list now that I see it again i remember commenting that I thought it was a very pretty name hmmmmm have to go fix that! and make the new post ops red. Ramona- i have tried a couple protien drinks and I like unjury all the flavors vanilla strawberry and choc. I mix half a scoop of strawberry witht he scoop or scoop and a half of choc for an awesome shake. I have seen people recommend limited purchases because our taste buds change after surgery. so get a few to try but don;t invest in big quantities until after. I also tried banana myfusion and that was very good. Pebbles- YOU GO GIRL YOU ARE SUCH A "LOSER" YEAH!keep it up

Jessica I to am a healthcare worker who has MRSA. I deal with it by having my PCP on call for antibiotic treatment as soon as I dx myself with a MRSA abcess. I can tell because they are so dang painful and they do not drain they indurate. I became so ill with the 1st one I was hospitalized for 5 days of antibiotics and surgical incision and drainage of the abscess HORRIBLE! So i would suggest get to a doc immediately and take antibiotics to nip it in the bud and continue the decolonization bathing .

I am having my last meal in the old way tonight then I start my 2 week optifast diet. I dreamed about my IVC filter surgery last night weird we (my brother was having surgery to why I have no idea lol) in someones house, set up like a backroom surgery center. The nurse practitioner I spoke to last week told me it would be an outpt procedure and then the nurse called me friday and said i would be spending the night in the hospital. If I spend the night I can drive myself and leave the next day if not my son has to bring me and pick me up. I will call the NP on monday and get it straight.

i have ticker angst myself. I made a ticker re my surgery date the 25th everytime i set it up i say 25 and it changes it to the 24th i have deleted it 5 times remade it after 4 days deleted same deal so frustrating i even tried to change it to a completly different month and i make the change in edit it says the new date but when ticker is made it reverts back to the 24th crazy

my hospital had a "hospital day" you could schedule your 2 hour mandatory hospital class and all your preop testing on the same day. not the egd/colonoscopy if your doc requires it but almost everything else. check with them.

Welcome Kimmy you are the day after me we will be recovering together! I will add you to our list Lexi so glad you made it through! I was one of those people that put off the WLS for years because of my diet pepsi addiction! Then my know it all (always right to ) daughter made me quit soda 2 years ago. I was having god awful pains in my legs that no doctor could figure out why. 2 weeks after i stopped drinking any soda and replaced it with water those pains went away and they only come back if I drink a diet pepsi more then 2 in a week. so I usually just dont drink any soda at all. thats one hurdle I already crossed in this new way of life. now for caffeine!
