Hey everyone I had a bad night last night. Left side pain scary but really not to much, damn heart went into fib but it was weak and irradic to the point I thought I just might die. I took my Bp it was low to. My heat in my house wasn't working and it must have been 30 degrees in my room but I was sweating buckets. My son happened to wake up to go to the br ( it was around 430 am) and he helped me through it. Got up to the br felt a bit better but still in fib. My head was dizzy and pounding but I was scared to take any pain meds due to my Bp. I was scared to sleep so I just read my book the rest of the night. I converted around 8 am and took a nap. I need to consult both. Y surgeon and my cardiologist but my day was so twisted by the time I remembered it was after 5pm. Will call Tomorrow .

I just can't believe the differences in what the docs will allow. It blows my mind. Here I am on liquids only for 2 weeks and cookier gets mushy on day 4. And what about tacos? What do you mean tacos meats tomatoe cheese sauce and a shell really? How is that even mushy at all? Your only one week ahead of me. I didn't think tacos would be good on the post op diet plan it's not low carb. Plus what about portions? My plan calls for 2 tablespoons protein then 2 tablespoons veggie. That's the whole meal. I start the mushy Tuesday so I will see how it goes but all this info is just making me crazy.
  3. Had some crazy horrible pain on my left side. Maybe because I backed of the pain meds, or when I picked up the grand baby yesterday, or maybe it's just the incision line. I got my water and protein in yesterday but today I Feel like crap. Pale weak and the pain. I also have a weird issue: at night I use cpap and it feels like its blowing air into my stomach. I wake up early with gas and bloating. I start burping every 2 min from the start of putting it on. Any advice?

The golden rules of eating post op *30/30 don’t drink within 30 minutes of starting or ending a meal. *Protein first veggies and fruits second and carbs if there is room *Avoid “white” or simple carbs eat only complex carbs * Drink!!! At least 64 ounces, 2 standard quarts Each day caffeinated beverages don’t count replace 1:1 with water *Protein at least 60 grams per day-vital to maintain strength *Vitamins and supplements for the rest of your life (get blood test periodically to check) *Medical Follow-up keep in touch with your Doctor to keep your weight off *Support groups promotes accountability and sense of community *CHEW CHEW CHEW!!!!!!!!!!

    Aetna Ppo

I am a nurse and I have the Aetna ppo insurance. I had to complete a three month multidisciplinary monitored education wt loss program that my surgeons office did. It had behavior modification, dietician, exercise, and weigh ins. After my three months they scheduled me but my date was a month and a half later so really I did almost 6 months pre op before my surgery sept 25 th. I was disappointed it wasn't scheduled for August but things worked out well. I got all my pre op requirements in at my work, had some complications with MRSA and needed a last min infectious disease clearance. My irritation came in that I had been questioning my MRSA status from the beginning and my doc blew me off then when the hospital required a swab and it was positive the office completely over reacted saying I needed to be placed on a different floor, change my time to the end of the day so the room could be decontaminated, and maybe delayed altogether. however I got it all straightened out and my day went off without a hitch.
  9. I live near by and had my surgery at fair oaks hospital in Virginia. My question for you is wether the hospital is designated a center of excellence for bariatric surgery? That's very important since it means the hospital is set up for the bariatric patient.

I feel similar especially when I drink in the manner I used to ie taking a big sip or gulp. Also I used to love chewing ice and drinking very cold Water. Now I tolerate warm MUCH better, and I really must sip small amounts at a time. We must be very careful not to get dehydrated I saw on the boards that someone used a tiny medicine cup to sip with so she could see how much she was taking with each sip. Maybe that would help you.

    Laying Down Position

I had my surgery the day after you and fortunately I own a Tempurpedic ergo. That's the adjustable Tempurpedic bed. Last night was the second time I tried to sleep my old normal way of side lying and while I can not change position easily I was able to do it without a great deal of pain and tonight it's better still( my bed is in a flat position) . I felt some strain in the upper abdomen at first but it's improving daily whew it's a relief!

    Not A Single Pound Lost

One thing if you don't mind what are your stats? I think you might lose slightly slower if your total to lose is < 150. Those like myself with over 200 to lose will/ might( god I hope) lose a bit faster?

Hi everyone, I slept n my sides last night yeah! My back is so tired on being in bed so darn much. My apartment is small and I have severe difficulty with the steps so I pace the living room each time I get to pee. Think I will try sitting at my desk today maybe play some online spades whooo whoooo. I have been able to keep hydrated but at this one week mark I am seriously trying to implement the protein drinks. Today I am trying to get a full oh yeah, 32 grams protein total for 14 ounces, in. Tastes fine just sipping my first 4 ounces now. Warm liquids are still best.

    Not A Single Pound Lost

But how do you feel? Are you exercising? Are clothes looser? Wait you have reduced 24 lbs so that not none right? I would suggest you not get hung up on numbers but focus on changing habits utlizing the tool you have fought so hard for to achieve healthy eating and better health. The wt will leave soon and on the bright side slower means more chance for your skin to rebound. Keep up your vitamins so you don't lose hair etc. good luck it will come!

    Optifast

I had to do the optifast diet for 2 weeks pre op. I hated it but I did not feel hungry really but I modified it because it was making me feel bad. I looked up on the Internet what a " liver shrinking" diet was and the first weekend I substituted low carb meals for the optifast shakes. Then I followed a modified optifast I took a bar and a shake a day and a soup to then actually had a mixed unjury and optifast shake at night 1 1/2 scoops of unjury(strawberry and chocolate ) then a optifast ready to use container with ice in my magic bullet. That's about four optifast items plus the unjury( my doc had wanted 6 items daily). I had been doing low carb prior to that 2 weeks pre op but had limited to no successful wt reduction which was frustrating as heck. With the optifastish liver shrinking diet for 2 weeks I reduced 30 lbs pre op. also I had to do clears the day before surgery (9/25was my surgery date). Ps I did have some severe complications pre op( I injuried my SI joint on the Friday before and must admit I did not eat much as the pain made me very nauseous). Good luck!

Home again and I made a discovery. My pouch likes warm fluids not ice. So drinking is getting easier sipping things warm. Since I have been home the damn diarrhea has eased up thank god.

Welllllllllllllll Last night I went into a very rapid rate fib and am now in the hospital. I converted to sinus rhythm after 4 hours but they still admitted me. Should be discharged soon. My cardiologist changed my meds so I can take a small capsule instead of crushing the bp med which was hard to choke down. I also continue to have diarrhea but when I called to inform my surgeon they said they could not send the message until I was discharge , the hospitalist has to page them. I was like but they don't need to talk to them I do to consult about what's going on but thanks anyway. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  24. Yesterday (I had surgery 9/25) I tried to start taking my protein shakes. I tried nectar cherry flavored. It tasted fine and went down as well as anything does. By that I mean I sip everything and set it down and try again in a few min nothing goes down easy but not bad just a don't feel like taking anything. It seemed to go fine. Since I have been home just one day I feel some gas pain, still have my qpump, and take my rx meds. So I took another 2 ounces of the drink in the evening with a tiny bit of ice. Tasted ok as before and I drank it down in about 10 min. Within 30-45 min my belly was bloated, felt nausea, pain, and just horrible. I finally got up to the bathroom and had some diarrhea then vomited dry ish heaves horribly painful. Just feeling miserable. My son got me back to bed belly still bloated oh I made myself walk 5 laps in the kitchen like I always do whenever I get up to use the br( I lap the kitchen , which is quite small when I feel bad and lap the living room when I feel up to it.5 laps each time) The pain in the belly continued I took pain meds and eventually fell asleep. I am up now pooped three time with minimal gas from below and a few burps. The belly is less bloated pain fair to good. My question is does that sound like dumping and should I try that brand again in a different flavor or just try a different protein drink?

    Is This Dumping?

Thanks for the responses. Today I backed off the protein, slowed down the sipping but tracked my water and voiding. Passed gas better tummy is definatly less bloated. I must have drunk to fast last night lesson learned.
