  1. Ok ty i will keep that in mind for tomorrow my surgery

They didn't tell you about the binder? Also be aware after surgery you should have compression stockings. They gave me a patch to help with nausea. I was in the hospital 2 nights. Came home Saturday and have been doing well. They sent me home with a liquid to coat my pouch before I eat and also lovenox injections I give myself for the next 7 days. Most importantly walk walk walk walk. I did 4 miles in the hospital in 2.5 days.

  2. Oh sweetie I know it is a pain in the ass. I just got my date, 10/4/12 and I first met with my surgeon last December. Use this time wisely. Try things like, only eating a small portion while your family and friends eat normally, taste the Proteins, not necessarily for taste but for texture. Your tastes will change after surgery. Start walking if you haven't already. Go to support groups. I thankful for my time bc I have made Frieda through support group who I would have never met.

  3. I'm feeling super emotional today. I am ready for surgery. Knowing that I have to wait till at least the end of Sept is irritating. I haven't been able to walk or workout in days because my back hurts and I'm so sleepy all the time. I struggle all day to stay awake and it depresses me. The Dr. says it is between my hormone levels and possible sleep apnea. For 9 months we haven't been able to get it under control. I feel like I'm a disappointment to my friends and family bc I could care less about leaving my apt. When I do I sweat non stop. I'm 28 and pissed off at myself for getting this way. I know I am making a great choice with surgery and am putting all my worthwhile energy into makin my life better. Again I'm getting irritable waiting. Oh and on top of it all I've been having irritable bowel symptoms which I haven't had in about 2 years. Don't get me wrong though, even in my darkest hours I love the fact that my life is going to be a good one.

All I can say for today though is, Thank God for cuddly puppies and dreams of one day having cuddly babies.

  4. So I got my insurance approval about a month ago, then this past Tuesday I had my pre op testing. It took almost 6 hours. I walked in and the registration lady handed me an itinerary of all my testing followed up by a nurse practitioner. I having RNY @St Vincent Carmel Indiana with Dr Cacucci. I went to the hospital at 6:45 and got home about 2. All is good though. I hope I never have to drink Barium again! All the bending and sitting and standing killed my poor back. I have a nerve that flares up every now and again and of course it has been horrible lately. I got home walked the dogs and I was just done. Didn't eat dinner, laid there like I was a stiff board. Then woke up at 7:40 and realized I missed support group and I was so sad. That is when I realize how much support group has come to mean to me. I hope everyone finds a support group locally to help them. Ours is wonderful. Now I'm waiting on my surgery date. Praying for the last week of Sept mainly for work scheduling purposes!

    ;)

  5. I may consider Dr Gomez. Since bariatrics is her specialty I may feel more comfortable with her. Did you use Dr Stote for the psych consult? What did you think (ie good experience' date=' nervous, etc). My appt with him is Friday.[/quote']

Dr Gomez is so sweet and not even remotely judgmental. My main thing was always to be honest with her even if I ate horribly. Start a food journal now. Do it as much as you can. I use online myfitnesspal, but most of the time I wrote stuff down, shove it in my purse and add it later. Dr Stote is very nice, odd little guy. Dont be afraid to tell him the truth either about how you feel and what not. I wasn't nervous but due to different circumstances this was my 3rd time through. I posted a thread, it's under tell your story called "ready for this". Or you can look at my profile to the threads I've started. I trust St Vincent's with what doctors to see bc those doctors know what insurance wants. I have been through counseling a number of times and if you feel you need it, get it. I'm so happy for you. 4-6 months seems so long but it really isn't and I promise if you pay attention to what you are doing now you will feel more confident the closer to surgery.

  6. Thanks I'll try to make the support group! At St V's Carmel' date=' right? I have struggled within so much...even tonight. But I know this is right! Good luck to you![/quote']

I think you would love group there if you can make it. I have been going as often as possible since January. I'm glad I had the time. If you ever have any questions or want to talk send me a private message. I'd be glad to exchange numbers. I'm a Texter :)

  7. Hi' date=' I'm a newbie to the forum. I had my initial consult yesterday and confirmed I am going to have the rny surgery. My insurance requires 4-6 months dr visits...hoping approval is first time around! Looking forward to reading and hearing everyone's journeys...the good, bad, ups and downs. Take care![/quote']

Are you going to see Dr Gomez for your appts? She is Great!!!!

  8. Oh yeah I'm definitely filing FMLA. It's a new job and we had my permanency date wrong. A month off. So before my manager could sign off I had to meet the date requirement which is Sept 26. More time for me to save money and whatnot! :) plus it will be getting cooler and I'm sure the areas will heal better if I'm not in a constant sweat lol!

  9. Me too! Me too! I am in NW Indy' date=' Dr Cacucci at St V! I had my initial consult yesterday. Meet with psych on Friday and awaiting insurance instructions. I really liked Dr Cacucci! Would be interested in hearing how your approval process went. Congrats on your upcoming surgery <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

It has been a battle more within than anything. I know my insurance covers it, it was just a long process. My pre op testing is next Tuesday and for job reasons hopefully surgery in late Sept, a month later than planned but that is ok! You have to come to support group sometime! Next Tuesday at 7 suite 255!

  10. Hello. I am new and almost three weeks post op. I am finding it very difficult to get all my Protein. I am not liking Protein shakes at all. I find some days I just don't care to eat and other days I think I am feeling hungry. With all that said' date=' I am trying to get in all the stuff I am supposed to in a day. Trying to get everything in leaves me stressed out. I have lost 27 pounds since leaving the hospital. How do you handle getting everything in your supposed to? Do you find it as overwhelming as I do? How do you handle it?[/quote']

Are you going to group next Tuesday night? My name is Andrea :)
