Hi guys! I'm 2 weeks out and excited to start trying new (soft) things. So far, the only thing I've tried is eggs and some melted chedder cheese in the eggs, and all went well. I would like to try refried Beans tonight with some melted shredded cheddar cheese and a dollop of plain greek yogurt. Has anyone successfully tried refried beans this early out? How much would you say I should consume at one sitting? About 1/4 to 1/2 a cup??

I had coffee today with skim plus milk. Is caffinated coffee ok to drink? Most surgeons say no, but I'm "cheating" and having a cup today because I need the caffeine and I miss it terribly. I will only have 1 a day.

It's just so interesting to me!

I wish I could think of food-nothing sounds good.. I still get slight nausea and continue to have scopolamine patch on. The only things I drink are broth Water and Protein shake.. I have been so extremely tired that I usually only make it up for an hour then nap for three.. I just hope that goes away.
How far out are you? The only food I've tried is eggs and cottage cheese. The only thing that tastes good to me so far is eggs and egg salad. I just want salt. I don't crave sweets or carbs.

Very curious! My sister had the VSG, and I have the RNY. We were talking today about who is MORE at risk of stretching....rny patients or sleeve patients? Anyone want to guess on this one? I think it would make more sense for a pouch to stretch rather than a sleeve, but I could be wrong!

hi all - surgery was Jan 21 and went home that Wed Jan 23! Wahoo!!! However... I'm back in the hospital. They discovered after about two days of being back home in major pain that I have a severe blood clot next to my liver and intestines. It's causing some major pain - really indescribable (sort of like appendicitis multiplied by 100). Anywho' date=' not sure how long I'll be in here. It's been since Sunday AM and no major news to report. Some of the pain meds are working, but I'm NPO other than when I take meds by mouth. They are thinking any stuff going down the intestines are causing problems because the blood isn't moving through quick enough thanks to the blood clot blockage. On blood thinners and hoping that'll help. They keep saying my body needs to heal - that the bypass surgery itself created the clot, but no real medicine or surgery will fix itbooo... It's painful to say the least. Glad to be alive as my RNY surgeon said they're pretty dangerous, especially since it could kill off my intensities.
Others who experienced blood clots in the abdomen area after surgery? What did you do? Recovery time? Did it adversely impact your loss goals each week? Believe it or not I'm still thinking about weight loss at a time when I should probably be thinking about my overall health... just in that RNY mindset about goals, etc... Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.[/quote']
I had a blood clot/twist in my small intestine. Very painful. It was found during the swallow test. They did emergency surgery to clear it the following day and things have been great. They won't fix it for you? Mine was unfixable and causing severe vomitting.

I was on liquids and soft for like 4-5 wks post op. Please don't fall into bad eating habits so soon after surgery. Its one wing now and a few weeks it will be a few more wings' date=' etc. etc..... you know where I'm heading. Please stick to low fat, healthy choices...you won't be sorry.[/quote']I agree with this! Be mindful

No energy at all. lol. I had none before surgery, and none now haha. Today I'm actually a bit dizzy, which I'm concerned about. You are still a bit sore? How are your incisions healing up?

I don't feel pain from eating. Sometimes I will feel pain from drinking though, which sucks.

I'm sorry I didn't know.
No problem! Maybe you are having a sensitivity to the painkillers. I would ask your doctor if you can take Tylenol instead, so you don't have to deal with the side effects of the painkillers

I can't exercise till 4 weeks post-op....so 2 more weeks to go. I just want to go on the elliptical (I hate walking in cold weather and walking in general) lol.

They say u can get high cholesterol I just think thats wack everyone says something different
Ohh, I see.

I was told only one egg per week cause it was bad for the pouch but as much egg beater as wanted he said cause of the cholesterol
How are they bad for your pouch? I will be living off of them b/c of the Protein content and low calories.

Enjoy it while it lasts...trust me.

There is no way it could be dumping from painkillers...there's no calories, fat, or sugar! Painkillers DO cause the type of side effects you described though if their is an intolerance. Maybe you could try sticking with straight Tylenol? Narcotics tend to produce some nasty side effects for some people.
OMG, 6 pounds overnight?
