    Anxiety

If you find that the anxiety is really overwhelming, you could always ask for a medication temporarily

    Nutritionist...?

For those of you who had to pay out pocket for the nutritionist (if it wasn't covered by insurance) about how much was the consult?

    6 Consecutive Weigh-Ins?

Just some clarification needed...and it might be a silly question! For the 6 month consecutive weigh-ins, are we allowed to make appointments with our PCP monthly in ANY date within the month? For example, my first weigh-in was July 10, my next is August 13, but what if I ever have trouble getting an appt and it ends up being like September 28 or something. Just wanna make sure, because I know insurance companies are a pain in the ass with this!

    Who Have You Told?

So far, only my family, fiance, and his family know. I will most likely tell my classmates/co-workers as the surgery draws near though. In my opinion, I think it's important to be open about it in order to lessen the stigma associated with weight loss surgery and being overweight in general. The more people are educated, usually the more accepting they become. I don't feel a point in being secretive about it...I feel proud that I'm making my health a priority.
  9. That's terrible Hang in there though. Just think...it's almost over. My sister is your age and doing her two week liquid diet now and having a hard time. I keep letting her know her NEW life is so close now, it's in sight. It's frustrating, but you are almost there.
  10. I'm so sick of not having any energy. I complained so much about most of the pre-op testing I've had so far....but my Dr. Just found an issue with my thyroid...which is a blessing in disguise. If it wasn't for starting the process of getting this surgery, I probably never would have found out! I'm hoping for more energy once it's treated lol. The pre-op testing is a pain, but I see the importance of it now.

    Consult On 7/31

Very nerve-wracking...it's like we get stuck doing allllll this work and then just hope insurance approves it! 3 months is not bad at all! Let me know what they require; I'm interested!

    Consult On 7/31

Consult is basically an opportunity to answer questions and listen to the types of weight loss procedures available. Your height and weight will most likely be taken and your BMI will be calculated. Depending on your insurance, you will find out what they require before surgery and what your actual surgeon requires. It's a stepping stone to a new beginning!

Hello fellow Long Islanders! I live in Nassau County and will be having my surgery at Winthrop University Hospital. I need to do the 6 month weigh ins, but hopefully it goes by fast.

    Psych Evaluation

With that being said, you could always get a second opinion if need be! Good luck!

    Psych Evaluation

Basically they want to make sure your depression and anxiety symptoms are being treated before surgery either with therapy or medication. Symptoms of depression and anxiety left untreated after surgery can tend to increase in severity since surgery is such a huge transition. As sucky as it is, she/he just wants you completely prepared for surgery. Hang in there

    6 Consecutive Weigh-Ins?

    6 Consecutive Weigh-Ins?
