    Post Op Day 3 Help

Any type of painkillers have serious itching as a side effect! Hang in there!
  2. Welcome!! This is a wonderful site with plenty of support from great people I have just begun the process too, and am hoping for surgery in December. I have United Healthcare Community Plan, and they only cover RNY. They also require I do 6 months of supervised diet weigh-ins with my Dr. Every UHC plan is different though. Some require 6 months, some require none. Have you called UHC yet to find out the requirements? That's a good start. Comgrats on your decision. Glad to see someone else here with UHC and in their 20's, like me
  3. Oh boy. I'll miss carbs in general, fast food, french fries, and my beloved pizza! I'm more than ready to say goodbye to those things (for the most part, lol)

    Woohoo Offiially Post Op!

For those who have had the surgery recently...is the pain tolerable? My sister had her surgery yesterday afternoon and says the pain is horrible and she can't tolerate morphine because she throws up...shes so scared she has a leak because she threwup hrs after surgery but I hope not. She said pain is so bad! I guess it's different for everyone. She had a hernia repaired too. She also had vertical sleeve, not bypass. Hmmmm.

    Long Island?

Oh wow!!! What a small world! My sister is having her vertical sleeve done by Brathwaite on July 25th! I'm using Dr. Barkan and am hoping for surgery right after Christmas. I've been going to so many Dr. appts....it's insane!! What type of insurance do you have?? Good LUCK!!! You're in good hands...I was born at Winthrop and have been going there ever since
  13. Ahh! I'll keep that in mind! Thanks
  14. Oh! Oh! I want to wear my car seatbelt comfortably and not have to struggle getting into and out of the car! Also, I want to be able to go out to eat and sit in a booth and not have to worry if I'll be able to fit or not.
  15. I can't wait to be able to fit comfortably in the desks at my grad school and actually concentrate on learning and not the discomfort and sense of shame. I want to be able to sit ANYWHERE on any chair without having to worry about it creaking ir possibly breaking! I can't wait to buy bras that are pretty and suitable for a woman my age! I want to know what it's like to shop in Victoria Secret and regular sized stores. I want to NOT have to struggle to put my socks on. I want to feel energized and not in pain. I want to exercise without feeling pain. Ahhh there's a lot!

    Weight Gain After Surgery?

Confused. With the revision, is it basically a surgery to do the RnY all over again a 2nd time?

Ugh! The Wait Is Killing Me

Hi Cooksie I'm replying to this thread late, but we seem to be in a similar boat. I am doing the 6 month diet (ugh) and just had my first weigh in earlier this month. I'm hoping for surgery right after Christmas inbetween school semesters. Seems like all I've been doing is running back and forth to doctor visits...sleep studies, cardiologist, nutritionist, pulmonologist, lab work, EKG, support groups, psych eval, radiologist...the appointments are never ending I feel like 6 months is a lifetime away...and I fear doing all this work and possibly being denied. It's cool to know we may potentially be having our surgery somewhat around the same time! Good luck to you...and lets makes these next few months count!!

    Vegetarians

I am also concerned about getting in enough protein being that I don't really like meat or fish. Veggie burgers are great, but are they tolerable after surgery?
  19. ::fingers tightly crossed:: Good luck to you!!!!
