Glad I quit...they are $10.75 in NY and $11 in NYC!

    Tylenol is fine to take.

    Alcohol

It's veryyyyy hard, but do-able once you set your mind to quitting. There's many options to choose from...gum, patch, chantix, zyban, etc. Good luck!

    Psychological Evaluation?

You can use whoever you want. They all have the same training for the most part. Use someone in network!

    Psychological Evaluation?

I have UHC. My Psychiatrist I have been seeing for a few years wrote the letter for me. It was one visit and paid nothing. He is in network, so that's why no fee.

    Smoking?

Hi I'm not expected to have surgery till December, but I recently quit smoking specifically for the surgery. My surgeon requires no smoking for six weeks prior to surgery, but I thought I'd get a head start. My surgeon always checks for nicotine levels in lab tests, so I knew I couldn't lie lol. I found Chantix to be very helpful.

    Alcohol

I wouldn't do it. Your having a major, major surgery that's being done. We only get one body in this lifetime. Why put ourselves at risk for future complications? It's tempting, yes, but we can do it

    Alcohol

I plan on not drinking ever again after the surgery because there is such a high rate of alcohol abuse in RnY patients. Alcohol is absorbed differently after the surgery. You get drunk quicker with a small amount and sober up quicker. Many patients find this enjoyable, and keep repeating the process. I mean, I could see myself having a small amt if wine on a special event like my wedding day lol, but I expect to avoid alcohol at all costs.
  11. I hear so many post-ops talk about gas pain and for someone who is pre-op like myself, how would you describe it? What does it feel like? My sister just got her surgery done on the 25th, and is experiencing gas pain. I'd like to know sort of what she's feeling! I also would like to know as a way to prepare myself for when it's my turn
  12. Thought this was funny...my fiance's mother is against me getting surgery. She keeps trying to talk me out of it. She told me about some of her co-workers who had the surgery. She says "you don't want to end up like them. They throwup everyday after lunch"! So she then tells me they go to McDonalds often and get something along with a snickers lol. No wonder they're getting sick. At that point, I just nodded and didn't bother correcting her. She (and a lot of other people) also seem to say "omg, you are never going to eat again, do you know what that will be like? Not eating your favorite foods for life?? OMG"! Comments like these drive me nuts and make me want the surgery 100x more lol.

    Gas Pain?

I wanted to give my sister something for the gas pains, but the nurse said NO gas-x or anything else. She said nothing would help but walking. It's funny, because some are allowed gas-x or infant gas relief drops and others are expected to take nothing and endure it lol. Very confusing!
