    So Discouraged

Wow! That's really strange. Never saw that before. Any reason for it. Even after changing group too?
  5. Hi Shannon. Welcome. I'm still pre surg so I haven't had this yet. I'm sure many have had this. We've all had it happen dieting. Just need a jump start and going to gym is one of those ways. So good for you. Support groups are also a big help. Face to face, phone, web, whatever you can do. You'll do fine. Sending support and strength!
  6. Oh no. Don't think that way! you are so pretty. Don't even think about others. You're doing this for you. If you feel better about you, that's what's important.

    Long Island?

5 years. Nice. How are you doing? Good to meet you too. Looks like we can have a nice group here.
  8. Tami! You both look wonderful and so very happy!!!! Congrats!
  9. You are so right Jenneliza! I am still pre and may be singing a different song when it's my turn. I am just getting myself geared up for that time now. Hopefully I can keep these thoughts during the trying time to come. Guess we just have to start looking at affairs and get togethers in a different way. For ourselves. Food is a major part for most everyone and we need to smile and agree with everyone and inside know we are doing the right thing for us and food is being put in it's place now! Low on the list of importance.
  10. Hmmm, great....I have my appt. next Tues with dietician. She's a referral from bariatric office too. The psych went well. I fooled him. Got a good report. I only get 2 visits a year with my dietician. Hope I like her. Know I'm having a problem with artificial sweeteners. I get a reaction to them.
  11. Well, essentially it should be the eating. You can still sit with your husband and it should take a long time to have your 'meal' to get ready for after and it takes 20 mins for 4 oz of fluids. LOL Keeping company with your hubby should still be special time. Having different things to 'eat' will become common soon enough. You'll be fine.
  12. Isolated how? In your eating? Well, drinking. Having family dinners? I suppose mentally preparing yourself by saying, "What I'm consuming isn't important, being with my family is". It won't be forever. You can get through this! If you want to say more about why you're feeling that way, we'd love to try to help.

    Long Island?

Hi Love, great to meet you. I'm having surgery at Syosset Hospital. Work for NSLIJ system so having through insurance. I did my 6 months 2x. First was interrupted by a sickness then death of someone I was caring for so... Well, just finished the second round last week. Doing cardiology workup then back to Dr for liquid diet and date! Live in Shoreham but work in Plainview. Believe me it will go fast, the 6 months. I was upset to do 2x and now it's over, I'm surprised! I am hoping to go to support groups in Syosset. Keep saying I'm going after work...but we can form our own too!
  14. I'm worried about sugar subs, all types because I have a problem having any of them. I can't honestly say I am allergic, but I do have a reaction to them. Taste explodes in my mouth, aftertaste, and feel as if my throat is closing (with some of them). Am looking for shakes that don't have sucrose type sweeteners. Also looking for substitutes for the sugarfree sweetened pops and snack items. I know I am limiting myself horribly with this. I am also hoping that after surg, or maybe the pre surg liquid diet, will get me accustomed to it. any tips will be soooo welcome. Thanks!
  15. Thanks Losing it. Have an appt and list of questions in case not answered with our talk. I suppose it's possible I could get used to some of it but not lookoing forward to it.

    Traditional Bypass Vs. Sleeve

I have decided on the RNY but after learning more about the sleeve, I was considering it. Only because of being able to have my excedrin (well the other types now). I get lots of headaches. But on other hand I'm counting on having many less after weight loss. So may not be a problem after. Guess I've become dependant on it....scared to NOT be able to have the ability, if needed.... Everything else points me to RNY so will go with it but that's the one thing that gives me pause. Sorry, think I'm just rambling here...

    Who Have You Told?

A lot of different opinions. All good reasons. I can understand them all. Seems to have much to do with your personalities? Maybe. I am sorry to hear of negative responses being a reason. That's just wrong. No one has that right over your decisions. If it's what you want, to keep quiet, shout it out or anything in-between, it's for you to say.
  23. Kizzy? You look wonderful!!!!!! Keep it up. You have all my support!
