  1. Hey AmandaD! I'm doing a little better. I stayed the night in the hospital when I went to the er. I was dehydrated and needed fluids. The er staff was appalled that I was discharged so early and I'm having a meeting next week with some director. Thanks for thinking of me! Between you guys and my husband I feel like I have someone to talk to! Despite it all, I'm down 14 lbs since Monday!
  2. Yeah I had a horrible experience. Surgery was changed from laparoscopic to open surgery without my consent or knowledge (surgeon didn't even tell me after he visited me) I found out from a nurse that removed my drain. I was discharged 30 hrs after surgery in horrible pain after begging to stay :-(
  3. Was basically kicked out 30 hours later after having open surgery.
  4. Wow! That's interesting because mine was removed the day after surgery ????

    Gallbladder issues

All I know is that I was prescribed Actigall to take 2x a day after surgery to prevent gallstones.
  6. Hey guys. I am in the er now. Been here since 4pm (Its 7:15 now) I've been feeling very weak, dizzy and sweating all day & last night and there's a huge knot? in the spot where the drain was. I consulted with a lawyer today and he claimed he couldn't do anything because I probably signed a consent form b4 surgery Which prob stated the surgeon would do open RNY if he couldn't do it laparoscopically for whatever reasons. I told him I understood that but my problem was that I wasn't told it could be an option or even informed that it was done to me even after the surgery. Like it was a big secret. I'm gonna try and find a few more lawyers to consult with. I really appreciate you guys for supporting me through this. I really do! Last night I felt so depressed and just wanted to die. Thank you my friends.
  7. I wasn't even told that in case of an emergency that he would switch to open. As far as pain management, I feel horrible. These percocets don't work. My dad gave me some OxyContins and they help a lot and just make me sleep. They say walk 30 mins a day but how? I can't even get up on my own. I'm thinking of going to the emergency room tomorrow but the thought of sitting there for hours before being seen is deterring me

Good luck and prayers for all of you! Can you guys read the last post that I started and please give me your input. Thanks
  9. Sorry it took me so long to respond. My Internet was off. I had my surgery done at Newark Beth Isreal in Newark, NJ. My doc is Yvan Ducheine. He visited me after the surgery but didn't tell me he did open surgery on me. I found out when the nurse came to take the drain and pump out about 2 hours after he left! My experience was horrible. About 1 pm that afternoon I was asking if someone could help me up so that I could try and walk around but my nurse said no because she didn't want me to hurt myself. But came back at 5pm and told me I was being discharged in about an hour! Every1 was shocked when they saw me trying to get dressed to go home only 30 hours after being ripped open. I was in so much pain Nd felt like no1 in that hospital cared about me. My nurse called me a baby cuz I was crying from the pain. My husband was almost thrown out for demanding I be given meds (they took my morphine pump around 11 am) I'm sorry for ranting and raving but I really feel dejected and really depressed about what happened to me
  10. Thank you all. I'm a bit upset tho. For reasons that were not explained to me, my surgeon did the RNY open instead of laparoscopically and I was discharged after only one night. I'm in extreme pain, I can't drink fluids (it causes my stomach to cramp whether it be hot or cold liquids) I have not used the restroom and I keep vomiting (they say it's from the morphine) I'm very unhappy. I took a pic of one of my scars and sent it to my dad and he called my surgeon a butcher and wants to sue. Any thoughts?

Going for RNY in the morning!! I'm so nervous
  12. Jan 28th. Idk why it posted the cool man face. Lol
  13. Now I'm nervous. My surgeon suggested I stop smoking but didn't require it. Yesterday I had my pre-admit testing (surgery is on 1/28) and both nurses didn't say anything about me needing to quit. What's up with that?
  14. I just found out that I don't have to go on a preop diet so I'm eating like I'm a lunatic lol 7 more days!

My surgery date is January 28
  16. It's typical. My preop diet starts on the 22nd and I've been eating everything in sight and saying goodbye :-( lol thankfully my ins doesn't require me to lose or maintain weight prior to surgery. Tomorrow I'm hitting up red lobster :-)
  17. Congrats!! I got my call on Monday! Surgery date is 1/28! I'm so nervous and excited!

    Relationship Issues

I skipped all the responses. All I have to say is....if you have the drive for the future and goals, then why can't he? Stop making excuses! We all are born with the same brain! If it doesn't feel right, then it's not for you!
  20. I'm finished all my pre-op testing and all I need to do I collect all the clearance letters and take them to the surgeon's office to be submitted to insurance. My ins requires no diet or weightloss prior to surgery so unfortunately I haven't exercised one bit. However, I did lose 17 lbs by just replacing all sodas and juice with water. Today, my husband woke me up and told me he found a puppy! He is the cutest, little (albeit dirty) Maltese (I think) Having him inspired me to go for the first walk I've taken in over 6 months. Usually walking a block tires me out but lo and behold 45 mins later, we were still walking and I feel tired but great! Will post pics after I've taken him to the groomer and get his vaccinations. I feel like I have a walking partner now and a reason to walk! It may not seem like a big deal but I just wanted to share. Thanks for reading!
  21. I'm doing great Mami! Finished all my pre-op testing. Now I just gotta collect all the clearance letters and being em to the surgeon's office so they can submit to my ins. I'm so excited.
