  1. I too was set on the sleeve but most insurance companies do not cover it :/. I liked the idea of a surgery that had almost same weight loss but that was not map absorptive. If you do the research sleeve and bypass are within 10% of weight loss numbers however it's usually a little slower. Rny has more research and thus insurance is more likely to cover it. That and it is reversible. I hope your ready for a ride let us know how it's going for you Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.
  2. I'm once again with DLC. Is your urine output normal? Color normal? Issues can arise for some time still with kidney stones Etc but pain that keeps you up should Definatly be discussed with your dr. Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.

  6. Thank you!!! I was so excited and my pcp was like, I am not sure David because diet is only supposed to control 10% of your cholesterol therest is genetic and I was like well, eat that genetics, in your face high lipid count! Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.
  7. Depends how far out you are but here is my rule of thumb. I take one swallow every 15-20 seconds. Going thru a cup in about 45 minutes depending. 8 fl oz usually takes me a bit but every surgeons rules are different Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.

  17. So, I get a call for a motorcycle accident yesterday. We got on scene and it was down this hill anyway, to make a log story short I carried my pt up this hill on a backboard, I did all my cares and when I got back I went up the 5 flights of stairs to get to our sleeping quarters and nothing hurt! Not my knees nothing!! Best of all I could speak in full sentences at the wreck after carrying this pt and at the top of the stairs!! I ant leave out the funny, so at the top of the hill, my freaking belt buckle popped out of the hole and I looked like a punk kid with my pants down to almost the bottom of my ass while I stand bow legged holding the gurney trying to get it into the back of the ambulance! Anyway, this was huge for me because I am already seeing positive changes for a better me for myself and the communities I serve. Just needed to share this because for me, this was huge. Thanks for listening to yet another David rant lol Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.

  22. Went awsome!! Got my b12 injections and I am off my bp meds!! Life is www.GOOOD!!!!! on a side note my surgeon told me I should be able to eat a hard shell taco lettuce and all and I did. Of course it was in 1/4 increments but omg it was great! Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.
  23. Great post DLC and patty. I was going to say that I was told the ratio as well is 1:3 so every drink an rny pt has is = to 3. My dietician and surgeon said that I could have a drink once in a while and there is some merit in a small glass of red wine now and again providing health benefits but we all have to be carefully and remember moderation. My rule now is any alcohol and keys go to someone else period. I havnt had a drink but am going to world EMS expo in new Orleans in October and will have a drink. Great post Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.
  24. It's probably nothing but pinpoint pain that lasts longer than a couple hours is concerning. I would call your surgeon's office. After surgery the biggest concern of course is a clot. It's probably nothing but if your still having the pain today I would call Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.
