  1. It is normal to feel that way. Try to figure out other ways to measure your loss. For example I measured my loss by how much of my toes I could see in the shower. My toes were non-existent before surgery and now I see my ankles. Also come up with a goal list. Things you want to achieve post op. When you reach a goal mark it off and think of another. Also remember the scale is just a silly machine with numbers and the real success is how you feel and gaining a healthy life!
  2. Well calm down that is your first step!! Now let's look at this logically you gained 2lbs - so what!! Does it mean you have failed at post op living - NOPE Does it mean you are done losing weight - NOPE Does it mean you have done something wrong - NOPE More than likely this is either Water weight - or monthly visitor weight. However most people gain a little weight when you advance and add new foods. Our weight ebbs and flows during this journey. We gain, we lose, we stall. You will lose weight and eventually learn the great art of patience. Our bodies are on their own schedules and trust me they never match up with our minds schedule. As for things you can eat of purée stage. I had yogurt, Beans, mashed potatoes, cheese, Jello. You want to advance your diet so that you can get to eating normal foods. Check with your NUT and see if they have ideas. You mainly want to make sure when you swallow the food it is finely chewed up. Finally stay off the scale for a few days and you will be amazed that the silly number has gone back down. Good luck!!
  3. It was suggested to me to use sippy cups after surgery and they really helped. Instead of staring down a large glass of water I just had small glasses to drink and felt like I was really winning the water battle.
  4. Since my surgery I have a new love of cooking. I began trying new recipes on my day off. I have also discovered I love to bake. My coworkers are very appreciative of the new love of baking. I make stuff and send it their way.
  5. Give your doc a call. It could be gallbladder.
  6. I doubt that you are done losing at 5.5 months. Sounds like you are at a stall. At this stage to help you out of your stall you need to change a few things. Examples: 1. Increase your protein 2. Change up your workout routine 3. Keep a food log and make sure you are eating appropriate things 4. Eliminate stress - if you find yourself in a stressful time our bodies will hold on to fat 5. Stay off the scale everyday.
  7. The amazing thing about our bodies is that it finds its happy medium weight. We lose the weight quickly and most of the time lose more than expected and then our bodies will bounce back up some. I have found that I am still losing inches, but not really weight. I have stabilized between 130 - 140, but I look a lot smaller than that. Someone asked me the other day if I weighed 90lbs. I am told all the time that I need to stop losing weight, and my response is that I am no longer losing weight but I am losing inches. We have no control over where our bodies choose to be. My goal weight was initially 150. I was happy being at 150, but my body seems to like 137.
  8. I was thinking this morning that I had not seen you recently on the boards.
  9. Yep our brains are crafty little things. Good news is that you are recognizing the tantrum now. It took me months to figure out what was going on.
  10. Your stomach has not had a chance to heal completely. Your nerve endings that signal that full feeling are not fully functional yet.
  11. Just wanted to check in with everyone and see how logging was going. I have been resistant to it this week, not sure why. I have put it off until the evening and I am sure I have missed things. I am really trying to stay on track as this is such a valuable tool.
  12. Congrats in the weight loss!!! It is hard at the beginning to get all your water in. Keep in mind that your shakes count toward your 64oz of fluids.
  13. What surprised me was me. I discovered many things about myself. I am 15 months post op and realized long ago this is more about mental battles than physical ones. For example I learned the following life lessons during this journey and continue to learn things. Self esteem- I discovered a new found confidence, but I also discovered how low my self esteem was. I see it now in others as I am in public. I notice the signs of low self esteem. Patience - this is one of the hardest things to learn. Stalls happen and although we think we should snap our fingers and the weight just drops off it does not happen that way. I had to learn to be patient with my body and brain. Perseverance - knowing that my docs plan is a proven successful one and trusting that it will work. Strength - physically and mentally. I discovered during my first 4 months that I was a much stronger woman than I thought i was. I was nauseated everyday and threw up at least once a day, but I was strong enough to get through the tough times. Happiness - I discovered I am a very happy person. Which brought forward how miserable I was with all the weight on. I thought I was happy eating everything in sight, but now I know what happiness is and food does not provide that happiness anymore. My new life does! Brightness - my outlook on life is brighter. My middle name is Sunshine and I now feel like I live up to the name. I love to smile and have been told several times the past year that my smile brightens the room. I have so many more happy days than miserable days now Goals - I started out in the journey wanting to reach a silly number on a scale, but soon realized other goals were much more exciting to reach. I am training for the police academy, a 5k, and can play 90 min of soccer with no problems. Love - my husband and I reconnected on such a powerful level. We were like newlyweds again. I realized how much he truly loves me. He accepts me for me and nothing more or less. Finally truly loving myself has allowed me to love in a deeper way. Personal demons - I came to face to face with demons I had pushed away with food. The scared little girl who only wanted friends suddenly had lots of friends. However my mind and the little voice keeps saying they only like you because your skinny. Facing that demon has been hard, because there is so much wrapped up in it. Did I eat to protect myself from pain of people, or did I make food my best friend because it never said no. I still struggle with this issue. It is hard to realize that every new person I meet only knows Skinny Samantha not big girl Samantha. Take it a step further and I think to myself - would they like big girl or are they my friend because I am skinny. Health - I am getting illness under control. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and have been able to decrease my level of steroids from 20mg a day to 2.5mg a day. My pain is better and quality of life is better. There are a lot more, but those were the highlights. This is a journey and a wild ride, but well worth the cost of admission! I love my new life and look forward to more self discovery!
  14. It is just a phase and you will grow out of it. Your choices of food will grow and grow. There is not a lot to choose from during the first couple of months.
  15. It depends on each person. I have trouble with sweets, but some people can not handle them.
  16. I don't have a set place I go to. I look mainly for cost. Wendy's has a good dollar menu. I can not handle sonic food for some reason, but love their ice and ice tea.
