  1. Welcome to the forum! You're certainly among friends, most of which have a history of problems with sticking to diets! LOL. Pretty much everyone is nervous about the surgery but the reality usually isn't nearly as bad as what you imagine! You're gonna love the new you!

Your weight loss is awesome!!! I will be 1 month next week and I cant wait to feel and look great!!! congrats!

  2. Thank god I'm still regular in the morning like clock work everyday, I eat a lot of veggies

Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

how far are u post op? or have u had surgery yet? i was told to try to avoid lots of fiberous foods (mainly greens cuz of the effect on my tummy and bowels!)

  3. Dont listen to the stories. Eveyone is different. I went to my seminar in MArch and almost one month ago I had surgery! All the appts were very informational and I felt the same way at first. I was scared about leaving my comfort food. I havent felt better... think positive and good luck:)

  4. Are you thinking about having surgery? Im sorry you feel that way, My hubby actually opposed me having surgery at first. HOwever I needed to feel healthy and look healthy. I asked him all the time do i look ok, do i look to fat.... i know where she is coming from. THe reason why i ask if you are having any surgery or if you are overweight is because Im sure after she sees how motivated you are in committing to a new lifestyle she might consider changing something as well. Hope things work out.

  5. Hello!

After having 2 1/2 weeks off work for surgery and recovery, I returned to work today:) I felt so good when everyone kept telling me I looked great! They complemented me on my appearance. " you look wonderful, your face looks thinner, your upper body frame also looks slimmer" I swear I loved the attention and comments! I am however a little tired mainly due to the early rise this morning.

Had a quick question: I am eating mostly Protein, pureed/soft meats, cheese(cottage or string cheese) sometimes soft fruit like peaches, etc... has anyone experienced Constipation?

IM not sure I am getting the proper protein levels in either. I got the ok to begin taking my Vitamins again. I am currently taking a Multivitamin Flinstones chewable... They recommended Vitamin b-12 for nerves, metabolism, energy....

What about hair? I have REALLY thin hair to begin with.... I dont want it to fall out due to insufficiency.Any suggestions?? GNC Hair, skin and Nail supplements>>???

I have my 1 month follow up appts with dietician and bariatrician nurse next week:) cANT BELIEVE IT WILL WE A MONTH ALREADY!

  6. I wish u the best:) This thursday I will be 3 weeks post op! surgery and anesthesia were fine its more the gas pain that is uncomfortable. Walk as soon as you are able to tolerate it even if its a few steps or even feet. BEing on the operating table for so long may cause you to have horrible lower back pain. Dont be afraid to ask for pain meds! warm heated blankets on my back helped out A LOT!

  7. Lotstolose... Its completely normal. I had that the first night i got home. Dark and thick gross! It was like that for about a week. I too could not trust a fart! Let me tell ya when that happened luckily I was at home! LOL hope it goes Well for you I Am just about 2 weeks out. Keep a mental note of when you have bowels. It helps. Also I slept sitting up in my bed for about a whole week. I hated it that's where my heating pad came in place over my belly or on my back. I tend to sleep on my right side or better yet always have slept on my tummy its hard still but I use a pillow:)

  9. Your energy level will go up and down for a few weeks. It will get better.

I Am just over 2 weeks post op and at times still feel like I Am not motivated or have enough energy to exercise. I know that surgery is only a tool and that I also need to do my Part... I do walk everyday tho:)

  10. Yeah sleeping is hard for me too. I have to take ambien. This was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. It gets significantly better after the 2nd week. I also use a heating pad a lot.

I made on husband buy me a heating pad as Well:) the first night I got home I couldn't sleep and had horrible gas/pain. It helped SO MUCH! I also had insomnia due to the pain. Feelin a lot better now

  11. congrats!!!! how are u doing? hope uare feeling better. make sure you get up and walk. it will help with back pain after being in OR for that long period of time. i am just about a week and a 1/2 out and i sometimes get scared. but it will get better. once u go for your post op appt. you will be happy to see that you have lost more weight since surgery! i was so excited that my BP went up but DR said it was normal!!!!!!

  12. hey all sorry it took me a while to get on.... I have been good. I have started to eat Beans with sourcream, i hate the pureed eggs:( they smell and look so nasty. the tuna has been ok. I called my dr and asked if i can start some mashed food. he ok'd the mashedfoods. very little and only what i can tolerate. i have mashed carrots, squash, most of the time i am eating pureed beans or chicken. hotdogs also are ok but i grill them first and then eat one. I chew so much till they are gone then i swallow the rest. its been ok and have been able to keep them down. this weekend i was around family who pretty much made soft food so i can at least enjoy a few bites. they are all so suprised with how much i can eat and how fast i get full. trust me even tho i eat some foods i sometimes get sick to my stomach or even end up in the BR. i know every dr is different but I have been controlling all i eat. usually only 2 x a day and very little. I am concerned tho that i am not getting enough liquids in. Im just not thirsty!!!!!!!! I also hope i am still losing! my family who lives 2 hrs from here where all so excited to see me. they said my tummy doesnt bulge and i do look thinner in my face. My jeans actually were a little loose!!! cant wait to shed more #'s!!!!

  13. I'm almost 2 weeks out and I really wanted tuna so I pureed tuna mayo mustard and dill relish. It tastes so good. Seems to be going down well!

Im right behind you and tuna sounds so good. how are things going. your about a week out ahead of me but I really like you positive comments.!!! take care and i did get ur PM so ill get in contact soon! take care!

  14. happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and good luck.... like vamplover said there will ups and downs but it will get better. I am exactly one week post op today and today was one of my down days. just hang in there and im sure we will all see the light at the end of the tunnel and a new life that holds better health!!!!

  15. im only a week out and i notice some of my more snugger blouses i used where you can see my tummy bulge actaully fit better. my husband has told me my face looks thinner and my tummy seems to have gone down not a lot but he can tell. I cant wait to see that accomplishment either!!! I currently have always been a size 14/15. i have been wearing sweats/ leggings since my surgery I have some jeans that always made my love handles bulge out... i gez soon i will go into my own closest and shop for clothes that used to fit me lol!

    congrats again!!!!

  16. I'm also one week post op. Liquids that are working for me are sugar free carnation instant Breakfast, diet snake, crystal light, skim milk, chocolate Protein Shakes, chicken broth. pureed food - favorite us fat free refried Beans with low fat cheddar melted in it. I thin out the beans with chicken broth. I know it sounds nasty but it is 7 grams of Protein in 2 oz and tastes like a dip. Fat free/sugar free yogurt and small curd cottage cheese are also staples in my diet. I hope that gives you some ideas and I hope you are feeling better very soon - prayers and hugs :)

I am actually looking foward to the beans! I love them! I also like avocado so even making a small batch of guacamole and pureeing chicken on the side sounds delicious. I know it wont look so appetizing but I gotta do it. I also like tuna, how about the devils meat that comes in a tiny can... is that pureed enough you think> just a thought.... I like my veggies too like sauteed mushrooms with tomatoe, zuchinni and cheddar. any other ideas or recipies you can think of? thanks!
