    Stuck Not Full

Go on liquids right away and make an appointment to see your dr. You may need to take some fluid out. Once you regurgitate you can start to swell which will only get worse if you try to,eat. Hope this helps....
  2. Hi, my band slipped in June after a year and a half....totally my fault....from throwing up.......I went in to have fluid taken out....it totally eased my reflux......My Dr. said that I need to have surgery to fix it...I wanted to wait....now I have to wait till next year for insurance reasons.....my question is when do I need to be worried that my slippage has become an emergancy....I still have restriction and get stuck occasionally...when this happens I go back on liquids till everything feels ok again....but the last three days I have had a hard time sleeping due to reflux....last night it did not come up, but I could here it, like a burp that never made it out....no pain....finally I was able to go to sleep and was even able to sleep on back and both sides not just the left.....just not sure if this gas or whatever it is needs to be addressed right away....I will be on liquids till it passes, for sure..........thanks for any information......
  3. Do you have any problems with the extra skin that you had to prove to your insurance? What kind of documentation did you need from your Primary care Dr.? I have great insurance and plenty of extra skin, but no problems with it except it makes in hard to exercise.....

    Would you still have it?

I have my band for just over two years....I have had some problems...all my own doing.....but, I would do it over in a minute.....both options have ways that you can go around them and fail....if you are commited it is a great way to go......It is not easy and you do have to continue to work at it.....hope this helps.........
  5. Hi, I was banded two years ago....I was diagnosed as slipped in June of 2010. My Dr. wanted to do a revision as soon as possible, but I did not want to be out of commission for the summer.....I now do not have the money or the time.....I am planning to wait till March... My question is how do I tell when my band has gone from just being a slip to being eroded? I can eat about the same way I could with my fills....I still get stuck occasionally and go back on liquids till all pain passes plus two or three meals.... Any information would be great. Thanks...........

    Slipped or not?

Reflux.....I don't know how much you would have to cough to cause it to slip, but throwing up will cause slippage. I wish I had known that reflux was not just being too tight, but also slippage....they do an easy swallow test to tell if you have slippage....you also don't have to have surgery immideatly, they will take fluid out first. Check with you Dr. Good luck.......

    Reflux Poll

I think that hind sight is 20/20 and if I knew what I knew now I would have gone to Dr. after the first round of reflux. I had never, ever had reflux before which should have been a clue. I don't know what to say if you have had an upper gi and they show no sign of slippage. My Dr. did say that I have to have it fixed. I am going to put it off to enjoy as much of summer and water sports as possible. I have heard alot about people gaining weight. I am not too worried about that right now. I am way to afraid to eat solid food, that being said I can make just about any meal into a mushie/soupy meal that I do not have to chew. I hope I still know how to chew by the time I eat solid again.....:frown:

    Ask Dr. Schulman...

I hope that you are still answering questions on this thread....I am 20 months out from being banded and am in desperate need of some help with my extra stomach...I have had three c sections and have absoulutly no mucel tone below my belly button....What suggestions do you have that I can tell my pcp to help get my insurace to pay for all or part of some type of reconstuction on this area? My pcp is totally on my side, but we both have a hard time trying to say I have rashes when I don''t and never have....
  9. This thread makes me feel good about my decission to wait on my revesion....I don't want to loose my band, but have plans that having it revised now will interfer with...I will be paying close attention to what my body is telling me between now and the end of july when i am planning my revision...If anyone has anything that I should look out for that would warn of a problem please let me know...and/or what you were able to eat afer a slippage, but before having it fixed...thanks for any input...
  10. Do you have your gallbalader? If you do that can cause nausia also....Do you have any reflux? I had never had reflux until the band slipped...that included weighing 273, and having three large babies...Good luck...hope all is well.

    Do slips lead to erosion????

I do not know the ansewer to your question, but if it gets bad enough I think the ansewer is yes....I am in the same boat, I would like to put it off until the end of July....I also started having reflux, my only symptom...please let me know what they tell you...my reflux went away when they took out the fluid........
  13. I am going to post this in as many places possible....I found out on June 9th that I slipped. I do not throw up even once a week, but once every two or three weeks....my Dr. wants to do surgery....I am going to have it done in about six weeks, if I can wait that long.....if I had one thing to warn people of it would be if you have never had acid reflux (me) and all of a sudden developed it do a swallow test....acid reflux was really my only symptom...fyi it went away as soon as I had my unfill even with slippage........hope this helps someone..........

    Reflux Poll

This is a great converstation...I have started having reflux just in the last month...It is totally my fault...I started vomiting when I would get "stuck" instead of waiting for my body to pb. I get stuck about twice a month, but that is enough acid to hurt the throat. I would not even be posting if it were not for a very painful sore throat. I am not too full becuase I can eat more than enough, but may have streched the esophgus out. I am going to see if I can make it better on my own, now that I know what is going on....I only have reflux after vomiting, and I only vomit when I eat to fast or don't chew well. I may invest in some otc reflux meds also. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

    Pain in Port Area

Not sure what the pain is but I also have it if I over eat. I have not reached a sweet spot, and sometimes can easily over eat if I do it slow. When that happens it feels to me like the food just takes a long time going through the pipes by my port. Let me know what you surgeon says. I don't go back for six weeks. Good luck..

    Band slippage?

How did they know the band had slipped? Was there any pain or anything that went with the slippage? Thanks for any info.
  17. I am year and a half out of sugery and having some bad gas problems. I have always had regular bm and have been a little sluggish yesterday and today, yet have not changed my diet. I get real gassy, very painful, pass it and feel better for a bit then it starts over. Had a fill Monday, not sure if it is related. I am eating fine, no pain just gassy makes me not so hungry. No vomiting or anything. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I have not taken anything for it, but am planinig to call the Dr. tomorrow if it does not get better. Thanks for any info.

    Foods to Avoid

Foods to avoid is a tricky subject....everyone is different....I can eat most veggies raw, sometimes better than cooked, go figure.....I can't do rice and sometime have trouble with spagetti the pasta, and meatballs, but can do other ground meat just fine. What I have found out is that what I don't tolorate is usually because I don't chew it well enough....you will figure that out when you pb/vomit up whole rice and/or noodles.....lol....good luckl............

    Signs of being too tight??

I know I am not too tight....I did a swallow test and the administer asked if I had a fill at all....I will pb and or throw up if I eat too fast or eat the wrong thing.......can't eat rice at alll.......I know I need a fill....I am not sure what my sweet spot is but can't wait for another fill....hope this helped...good luck.....

    Did you name your band?

Ok I had not thought about this till now...........my port has and always will be my baby.....its up close to the skin and can feel it well....sometimes you might see me rubbing it like I would when I was pregnant....I just named the band......ralph....I do it alot if I eat fast, or the wrong thing.......Love this poll and now I have a name for my band.........

    Chinese Food

Was looking somewhere to post about rice.......I am very loose....need a fill........I can eat just about anything as long as I am not hungry and eat slow....that is anything but rice....I cooked steamed rice tonight...did not over eat and had to throw up everthing I ate just to get rid of the rice...I think if I say it out loud here, maybe I will remember and not do rice again...this is the second time...I pb when ever I eat to fast...but only throw up if I am really stuck.......

    Frustrated in Kingston

My surgeon suggested weights.....I have worked out my whole life in some respect or another...gyms, jogging, and organized sports...never managd to loose much weight. After my surgery we had to visit with a personal trainer...she said that weights would raise our medabolic weight for longer than arobic exercise would...They explained that as your body gets use to arobic activity you have to raise the level (raise you heart rate) to have it work at buning weight....weights build the musle that in turns rasies your ability to burn calories.....Also be patient....your next fill will help....Good luck........
  23. I am there with you, my last fill was from 6 to 6.4 I can eat as much as I want if I eat slowly...if I am hungery and eat fast, I get stuck....sometimes bad, that is why I know the band is there...went for a swallow test over the holidays and the tech. asked if I had had a fill, I just laughed, I know I need another one....I am practicing not eating between meals...but I can not get hungery or I eat fast and get sick....bad sick....It hurts...so I try hard not to let it happen....I know I need more fill...what was your surgery date? Mine was 10/13/08...wow that seems like forever ago....
