  1. I have had two other bariatric surgeons. One moved to California and the other i went to for over a year before transferring to Dr. Sandor. He is Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recently revised from band to vsg and could not speak more highly of a dr. or his staff. Good luck.

  2. I find that certain things sit differently in my pouch and restriction is not really a factor. Things like triscuits sit heavy and now after several fills so do things like cheez-its - both of which are not the best of band foods. chicken wings sound delicious!! I got stuck on them once, because I forgot and ate the skin...not a good idea!

  3. My pa said that rice is the most common food that she hears people cannot tolerate with the band. It was the first food I had trouble with and as much as I loved it, I have gotten used to not eating it anymore. There is nothing like being miserably stuck to make you not want that food again! I find as long as I keep my meats moist, i.e., applesauce with pork, low-fat gravy with chicken or beef, things go down well. With each fill you may lose foods - this last fill made crackers and chips difficult to eat (it's a good thing - isn't this why I got the band??). I have however, willed myself to be able to eat Pasta. I would die if I had to give that up - and I always eat at least the cheese and sauce on pizza. everyone is different and you won't know until you try with each fill. It is all worth it - you will feel and look so much better that it's worth giving up some of the foods you thought you loved, but maybe just liked alot : )

  4. Funny you mentioned the iced coffee - I was banded in November and being ever so careful and diligent not to use a straw when one day I realized that I probably had six iced coffees in the last few months and drank with a straw every time!! Now I use the straw only for my iced coffee which I drink far more often because it's summer. I don't have any issues and feel fine - but I am careful to try not to intake too much air. I am afraid to try soda - and am keeping it that way since it has no redeeming value anyway.

  5. Thanks for all of your replies and support. I did not get a preop nausea pill but iv meds for nausea through the first night. I guess like everything it passes, but that was the worst part for me. Not bad, all considered. Looking forward to staying in touch through this board and hearing how everyone is doing as we move along. Best luck to everyone!!!

  6. Hello All,

I guess I am officially a November Nymph. Had my lap band surgery on Nov. 21. It went very smoothly and I had very little pain. Today is day 3 post op and I feel really good. Can move totally on my own with very little discomfort. I am one of the lucky ones i guess, no shoulder pain ever, and only slight fever first night home. I did have alot of nausea from the anesthesia and that took a while to pass. Looking forward to keeping in touch and hearing how everyone is doing.

  7. I met with my drs office this week and they said if everythnig goes smoothly I could expect to be banded right around thanksgiving as well. I personally was happy with it - thinking that by spring when all the sweatshirts and heavy clothes come off - I could be looking substantially better. Initially you may regret it - but I think come spring - it would be worth it.

  8. I am just starting out on this journery too. First real appointment after info session next week. From what I understand loosing weight with band is very different from "traditional" weight loss so a dietician specializing in WLS is very important. I can't wait to get banded and start on my new life!!! In my drs. practice he is the last one to see so I have to do all the evaluations first and then see him. I just hope it doesn't take too long as it took me 1 year to fully decide to move forward and now that I have, I don't want to wait. Good luck to you, Maria.

  9. You should probably check if your doctor runs an info session - most programs require that you attend at least one. I have been to two -at two different doctors and they were quite different, but both very informative. I have my first appointment with the dietician (first step for my doctor) 2nd week of September. Yay! Good luck.
