  1. That's a good reason. Mine is similar. Want to live long good life, and be able to keep up with my teenage kids, and partner. Reduce health issues and do lots of stuff I've been unable to do in recent times.
  2. :-). I'm from NZ and we are nicknamed "kiwi". Nothing to do with football etc,.... Our rugby team are called "All Blacks". I think I'm the only one on this forum from this part of the world!!!!
  3. I find that I Plato alot at the moment. Saying same weight for 3-4 days, then a drop again.
  4. Are you head hungry? I went thru a stage where I thought I was hungry because of the clock and time of day, not actual hungry. Old habit. The old fear of not enough food and getting low on energy. In my case it was in my head. Surgeon said op turns off the normal hungry buttons for 6 months plus.
  5. As you get closer to your goal so the loss slows. Btw kiwiladee are u frm NZ?
  6. Like atcgoddess I haven't found anything that gives me too much trouble - am six weeks post op. only thing I've had stuck is pork, and nutritionist said that I found that one the hard way as it can be too dry. Even raw veges ok as long as I chew chew chew first. Had steak for the first time yesterday. Just the tiniest piece of eye fillet and it had been cooked by a top chef so was very moist and easy to chew. I know if I had cooked it had home, the result wouldn't have been the same. Just take it gentle on yourself. We will all get there, but it's not a race.

I've managed to have a little salad and I'm six weeks post op. I've found baby spinach ok and cucumber. Tomato ok but not the skins, and I have found I can handle a little avocado. Anything we can't chew into mush not good. Careful of highly fiberous veges. I had cabbage stuck and that hurt like buggery.
  8. I was told that hair loss happens between 4-9 months. Going to hope that mine not too bad. I think that's a scary prospect.
  9. By the way if you had the sleeve, gas would be the same, but if you got acid reflux, that would get a whole lot worst.
  10. The gas is the worst part, and it does pass. But i remember it was very painful until it did. The rest of the healing is easier. Just follow the rules. I'm just starting to eat normal foods carefully and it's all good. But now I have a small taste and eat slowly. The eating slowly is a challenge for me. Already got food stuck once and that is not an experience I'd like to repeat.
  11. Like Tammy I hv found that my weight loss started again when I increased what I was eating just a little. Still keeping to allowed foods, and eating slowly so pouchie can cope without hurting.
  12. I thought I had bn going well, 4 weeks out. I'm on soft foods, but tonight was multi tasking and didn't chew enuf. I swear I thought I was going to hv a heart attack. food stuck was sooo painful. And felt really nauseous. think I was getting a bit cocky and thinking I was bulletproof. That sure a lesson I don't want to repeat!!!!! Sounds like I few people hv problems with scar tissue. I pray I not one. Tonight was really scary and painful.
  13. Gripe water, used for babies, with wind etc.
  14. My gassy rumbles took a week to pass, but they do pass.
  15. Nurse told me not to weight myself at first cause I'd be disappointed as they had pumped me full of fluids and gas that I'd weight a little more. And I came out of hospital a little heavier than I went in,.... But went it starts moving!!!!!! Good to hear both of you and thru the surgery and on the new and exciting path to health. I'm three weeks post op, and every day learn new limits, and try new things gently (and within guidelines I've been given). I'm still on soft foods, but moved on from puréed. It's exciting a a friend who's 3.5years post op, (and looking and feeling fabulous) said it takes about a year to fully understand and know your limits. And get over some of the old foodie thoughts. This is an exciting new adventure to health and movement, and it's so cool to have the wonderful people on this forum to talk to about our journeys.
  16. I found that it used to use food as a coping mechanism, and a way to deal with emotions. If angry instead of showing it I would eat. Same with sad, frustrated, lonely, stressed, and even happy and celebrating. When you take the food away these emotions are raw,... And i had trained myself to use food instead of expressing them. Could this be a possibility in your case? I know that's what the pschologist said can be the case are helping me thru that stage.
  17. I'm really excited for you. Not long now. I remember I almost felt like a kid the night before Xmas. Excited and a little apprehensive about what the following day would bring.
  18. I keep a water bottle beside me at work a sip, as I now can't gussie water when I work out I'm thirsty. I do the same thing a know I hv to drink at least two of these bottles a day. If any easier flavours the water with a sugar free flavoring.
  19. I bought Bariatric Advantage and they have chewable Vitamins, Iron, calcium, b12 etc, in different flavours. And they are yummy. only thing I found is don't eat the lemon lime iron, with the multi vit blackcurrant. Not a good combo. The calcium comes in either high dose tablets that Taste like drinking chocolate, or caramel etc favored chews. My new legal treats that are good for me.
  20. I agree sometimes the headaches are just not drinking enough Fluid. Don't understand slider food? What's that? I also don't get the full feeling but if I don't make a conscience effort to stop I will get the yuck i dont feel good feeling. I'm still learn what my new tummy can do.
  21. I had a BMI of 35 and had health issues coming up fast. RNY was recommended by the surgeon over the sleeve, in my case because of a hiatus hernia and acid reflux. Surgeon also said that he his opinion RNY has more long term data behind it as to effectiveness, sleeve is still new and data still being collected about long term outcomes. In my opinion, it's unhelpful if after all the operation and everything we can still consume and rubbish that got us not this mess I the first place. RNY has and anti cheat, which I think is great, forces us to take the healthier options. And with both procedures Vitamins need to be taken for life.
  22. I was told by my surgeon that they can give general guidelines, but everyone is different, and thats where we just hv to learn to understand our new bodies. No rule book of one rule for all, (with regard to dumping limits).
  23. I hv meds that I can't stop, and my surgeon has prescribed losec as well. I was told I can hv gel caps, and capsules, but not those powdery tablets, as they can get stuck, and will taste and feel horrible until they melt. My friend said if she needs antibiotics she asks for liquid as her type comes in big elephant tablets.
  24. My decision was made by the surgeon as I got acid reflux. That's gone with RNY, and would hv got worst with the sleeve. We need supplements for life either way. I was told that there is more documentation on RNY, as sleeve is relatively new. And just out of interest, the surgery centre I went to only one surgeon could do RNY as its more specialist. The other three surgeons there could do lap bands and sleeves, as they were more general surgeons not bariactric surgeons.
  25. Fabulous very excited for you, I was surprised at the lack of pain, I got more pain from another op they did at the same time. You'll do wonderful. And don't worry about the skinny, you'll get yr head around that as the weight disappears.
