    Waiting Game...

That is frustrating for both of you. Keep in mind that soon it will be all behind you and will be losing weight and starting a new life, this is but a blip on your road to your new journey. Keep up the positive thoughts! My surgery was scheduled but had to be pushed back a couple weeks (which sucked because it made me closer to my daughters wedding, which ended up happening 2 weeks post op and we had to travel ugh) anyway, it was devastating at the time but now It is the past and I am so far past it and so soon you will be as well. Don't let it get you down and keep advocating for yourself until they do their job!!

    Dl Over Here :)

Mami what does the DI mean at the beginning of your topic (DI over here)? just for the life of me cannot figure it out and it driving me crazy. Your weight will come off you are still so early in this process, just keep on moving and eating enough and enough Protein etc... the same as we keep telling everyone and you will eventually lose it. But yes I hear it slows down drastically and that scares me LOL I am not a patient person!
  6. Oh my gosh!! My butt (tailbone)hurts all the time! I mean when I am sitting my behind is in constant pain these days. Heaven forbid I sit on the floor or other hard surface, because then it is way worse. Even on my soft couch or soft office chair my behind is just in pain. It aches and I think it is that I have lost my awesome soft built-in padding, but OUCH!! Any idea if or when this will go away and I can stand sitting again. I have no choice but to sit and do my job etc, but wow I never thought I would prefer to stand over sitting.... To make it worse I am so lightheaded (massive headache and dizzy as well) the last couple days I do not want to stand either, what a situation Ha-Ha. Of course even lying down is kinda an issue (but since I only lie down at bedtime it is not such a big deal) but when I lie on my side my bones hit the floor or bed and hurt the same as my tailbone. I want a bit of my fat back, and the sad thing is that I am not that thin in those areas yet, can you imagine what it will be like when I get to my goal. Oh my gosh!!! Whining over... LOL

    Hair Loss. :-(

I take the hair, skin and nails vitamins plus over 75G protein (including the shake) daily and my multivitamin and use Nioxin shampoo as well. Do you think the hair, skin and nail vitamins is good enough in getting in the biotin and zinc or do I need to buy those and take them instead? This is so frustrating, to have to worry about another thing, but we knew it was a possibility but ugh!!

    Fruit

I started with fruit at about 2 1/2 months out and eat fruit at least once a day. There is no fruit I can not eat and enjoy having something other than Protein. I also map out my food intake on Myfitnesspal before I even start eating, so I know I what I can eat ( I have pretty much figured out the amount I can eat at a time by now, although sometimes I can eat less and protein is always first) and always ensure I eat the correct level of protein. My doctor forcefully reminded me to eat fruit and veggies as well and to not only eat protein as this is not healthy either. Try to maintain a balance with a focus on protein first but do not forget the veg and fruit part of your diet. I have not had every kind of fruit, just to clarify, but I have had necatrine, peachs, grapes, apples, pears, plums, apricots, banana, strawberry, other berries, lemon but no oranges or other citrus. NO melon (was warned to stay away from watermelon by doctor) which is fine since I hate watermelon anyway. So far I have had no reaction to any fruit and ate skin and all. But each person is different so try each one, a little bit at a time, to see what will work for you.

    A Different "butt" Issue

I am down 71 pounds only. This seems like such a silly thing to complain about but it does make things difficult and it is painful. But I just have not found anything to help it either. Pillows do not even seem to help.

    Am I Alone?

Clarification I did have a liquid diet post-op but not pre-op. I hated it by the way, but I am thinking no one really enjoyed that stage. lol

    Am I Alone?

My doctor does not even do the liver shrink diet and said he only had to cancel one surgery in all the time he has done this surgery due to liver issues. He says he puts an extra unneeded burden on his patients so he and his other doctors in his group do not require or want us to do that diet. I would not overly stress yourself out, I am positive you are fine. I ate light but I ate until the night before surgery, no liquid diet ever. I just chose to eat lighter just because I was already in the process of changing my eating habits but I certainly ate normal food and had no problems. The heavier you are the greater the chance of there being an issue with your liver, but even then my doctor said it is still a rare complication that will impact your chance for surgery. So breathe and enjoy this time before your surgery.

    Annual Office Retreat Rant

Wow that stinks. Protein shakes will be helpful that is for sure. But wow this should have been a consideration, the fact that people have diabetes and other health issues (like ours) that can not or will not eat unhealthy food. What about the vegatarians in the bunch? Not even a salad, fuit or plain piece of chicken. Just pack yourself something to eat when everyone else is sitting and make yours look awesome and tasty so they envy you your food. It is crazy how thoughtless so many people are to the health of other people, the people planning the even probably have no problems and went cheap. Hope you have a great day doing all the other events they have planned at least. On the positive side you will be the one that will weigh less the day after the event whereas everyone else will have gained a pound.

    This How I Feel

    ROFL.....
  16. I worked the day before surgery. I would have gone crazy staying home the day before surgery. At work I was kept busy and was able to stop dwelling (ok not really but on and off I was too busy to let the worry and excitement drive me crazy) on my upcoming surgery and instead focus on work. Otherwise if I was just sitting at home waiting for the day to pass it would have dragged and I would have gone totally bonkers. As for your disability covering the day off I have no idea, since it is different at different jobs and in different states. Best of luck for your surgery!

    Fooling Around After Surgery

My doctor told me to go for it as soon as I felt like it. I think it was 2 or 3 weeks at most, had no problems.

    Average Weight Loss

If you put in BMI it tells you the weight in number form for your height etc. I am at 4 months tomorrow and have lost almost 70 pounds. I started at 261 and am 5'5". My goal is 145,which was 116 pounds to lose and dr said it a reasonable goal. It falls at the top range of the healthy BMI. Keep in mind the less you have to lose the slower it might come off. But in a year at longest you should meet your goal. What is your height? What is your current weight and goal?

    Can't Sleep

I was afraid of something interfering with the surgery all the way until after I got out of surgery (now I worry I will screw it up). Even so much so I would not get rid of my fat clothes (I kept only a set of clothing my current size at the time) and put them in the garage and told my husband they had to stay there until after I came out of surgery. I fought bagging up the old clothes and was having anxiety attacks about what happens if they can not do the surgery, so husband agreed to put them in the garage but he made me bag up all those clothes. He then made me go shopping for smaller clothes to hang in my closet, the best decision ever. So the weekend after my surgery (Surgery was on Thursday) my husband took my clothes to a friend and they were gone. I had previously, like 6 years previously, been denied surgery, so I was sure something would happen this time. But here I am almost 4 months out and many more clothes gone and many more clothes bought YAY. Still in size 18, but I was 24/26 before surgery. I have yet to shop in real stores, just thrift stores so looking forward to that! Congrats on the approval and it will happen and just think in 3 months you will posting similar things as I am right now in order to be encouraging to new members in their journey. that is what is so awesome about this forum. We get support and we can give it too.

    The Easy Way.......

I had an interesting learning experience related to this yesterday at work. Recently many many people have begun commenting on my weight loss and how great I look, etc. My response is normally thanks I had gastric bypass etc... But this one woman made the same comment and I gave my normal response and she kinda did a double take and said "Ok, but I meant what are YOU doing to make this happen" Here I was minimizing my own efforts in my weight loss journey all this time instead of taking any credit for my hard work and trust me it has been hard work. So I told her how my diet is now low carb, low fat and low sugar and how I work out an 45 min to an hour every day etc. But it was weird to be put into my place because here I was not taking the credit and giving it all to the surgery. It was nice to have someone recognize that it does take hard work on our part, it is just sad it was not me giving myself credit this whole time. So now I am trying to decide what answer to give the next time I get a wow you are looking great due to weight loss comment. Pretty awesome that someone recognized that this is hard work even with the surgery, well at least for me it has been hard work. Getting in enough Protein, Water, excercise, meal planning, proper thoughts etc.is not easy, it is actually all consuming some days.

    Empty Closet

Guys go buy new clothes at the thrift store. Wearing lose baggy clothes does nothing for your self-esteem and makes you lose out of the awesome feeling of feeling great in the new you!! I bought clothes at the thrift store prior to surgery and getting into them and wearing new smaller clothes is the best motivator and image builder. I wont wear too big clothes at all now, I rather limit my clothing to a few things than look like a bag lady (Like I used to be since all my clothes were too big) Thrift stores are cheap and you can find cheap nice stuff. I feel so much better about myself and being in nice looking better fitting clothes makes all the difference to seeing the changes in the dropping weight. Try it... do not wait until you lose all your weight, it is not worth it. buy a few things in each size as you are able to and enjoy being the new you. Wait until you get to your goal weight/final weight to buy brand new clothes but clothes that cost 2 to 3$ each for the in between sizes is so great and made all the difference to me. Wearing bigger clothes makes you look heavier than wearing clothes that fit, so at least have one or two outfits that fit. I was so excited because now I have just started getting rid of my 20W clothes because I realized they are too big and I only wear my 18W and 18. That means I have gone from 26W to 18, and I have none of the too big sizes left in ,my closet, except for the two outfits I kept to show the drop in size later.

    Pregnant What!

Wow! Congrats on your new blessing. Just take care of yourself and do what your doctor tells you to. Eat healthy and exercise and you will probably still lose the weight to a certain extent plus after the baby is born you will continue to eat right and exercise and the weight will come off then. It will not be a waste, but I have a feeling it will just be a bit harder. It is possible and there are many that have done this and been pregnant. We have one member on here pregnant with twins right now. Just take care of yourself and your baby and the rest will work out. Again Congrats, what exciting news! How many children do you have or is this your first?
