  1. I hope your friend calls her surgeon. She took the step to get the help she needed for surgery, why not get the continued help to be a success?

Any way our brain sends us signals that we are hungry but it is also sends the same signal that we are thirsty. We can confuse our thirst for hunger. So eat the 1/2 to 1 egg and wait 30 min, then drink Water. And see if you are still getting the hungry feeling. Try more Water if you are.

Good luck to your friend & congrats on making a great life style change for your self. Having a close friend to lean on & for support is the best!

  2. I'm only 1 wk post op. I took a shower this morning & was exhausted. Rested and decided to drive 2 miles to get my hair done. I'm still under the weather. I'm planning 2 wks off of work & seem to be improving more and more each day. But everyone is different. Congrats on your decision for a new you.

  3. My apologies in advance for the TMI. Came home from Hosp Thurs afternoon (surgery Tuesday) Friday I had my first loose BM & it was black. Called doc and was told normal to have some residue blood, should get lighter and if not to call them. Today (Sat) I had a small BM and again severe dark brown / black. Am I being a worry wart? Has anyone else experienced this after surgery?

I'm still suffering from Gas pains as well. Gas X strips seem to help. And very hard getting Water, Protein shake in me. Thank goodness for SF popsicles..

Please help me ease my mind?

I'm going crazy thinking about this ..

  4. My doc recommends Bariatric Advantage Vitamins, you can find them on line. It does seem pricey but the chewable flavors seem to taste good and it gives you high % of the Vitamins that you need.

I buy a sublingual B12 2500 from costco which is also on coupon this week. Under $12 for 260. In cherry flavor. Yum.

Another friend of mine who is a gastric patient takes regular vitaminD 5000 IU in those little oil or gel tablets. ( the ones that look like a bead)

In fact she buys ALL her vitamins from costco.< /p>

But she has a different doc than I.

I take a chewable multi Vitamin 2x a day (French vanilla is awesome from BA) and calcium citrate In 500 mg chewable tablets for a total of 1500 mg a day. (i switch with mint and cherry) BA has some awesome chewy chews also so occasionally I will have a caramel chew instead at 250 mg each chew.

Need to take a B complex and that is in pill or capsule form and Water soluble for easy absorption. Also from BA.

And then everyone's favorite Iron. 18-30 mg a day. I chose a passion fruit chewable at 29 mg. And also ordered a chocolate raspberry truffle chewy to switch off with.

Not all vitamins are created equal, check out Bariatric Advantage for the nutrition contents and compare to what's out there. Not much beats or meets them in % and taste. Several people have told me to never go cheap on your vitamins. You want to mAke sure you take them, so get it tasty and convenient. And stay away from the ones with extra sugars too..

    Hope that helps some.

Tracy B - just waiting on my approval from insurance and then surgery anytime within the next 2-3 wks for me.. : )

  5. Hi, my name is Tracy & I'm addicted to Diet Pepsi. I have been cutting back for 5 months and now have been soda free for 7 days! The headaches were rough. I'm pre op waiting for insurance approval with tentative surgery date either May 1st or the 15th. Just waiting for that positive phone call to come. So was wondering about Talking Rain sparkling Water. Zero calories, no carbs, but it is sparkling so it's carbonated. What about letting it go flat a bit before drinking. Is that okay after surgery? What about now during preop. Doc wants me off soda, is this sparkling naturally flavored water a no no too? Thanks in advance for your feed back.
