I Am So Ready For Surgery

    Is today the big day?
  3. Today is day 27 for me and I've lost 29 pounds
  4. I'm 4 weeks post op and I use to cheat on my liquid diet. Not all surgeons put you on them. I was put on one bc my surgery was less than a month away and I hadn't lost the recommended amount of weight. Some do it just to see if you'll have the discipline to stay away from things you shouldn't eat (clearly I didn't lol)

    Upper Gi.......no Bueno!

I just had an upper g.i. 2 weeks ago but I am 4 weeks post op. I kept feeling like something was lodged in my throat but the dr says there isn't. They're going to now do an endoscopy to see if my pouch is too tight bc I'm vomiting a lot and at this stage I shouldn't be

    Introduction

I am having problems eating. I throw up 90% of the time and they did and upper g.i and said my passageway was too narrow and my pouch was a bit tight...so when I eat the food isn't actually passing through the pouch but sorta sitting on top of the opening which causes the vomiting. I'm so hungry lol...I can't wait til they fix it so I can eat a little something

    Slight Complication

    Thanks very much Jessica
  13. I'm 4 weeks post surgery. I was able to eat jello apple sauce pudding and yogurt. The dietician told me to start re-introducing soft things like mashed potatoes oatmeal tuna/chicken salad with lite mayo. All of a sudden I started vomiting....Couldn't hold down anything....I would feel like everything was lodged in my throat. I had an upper g.i exam and was told nothing was stuck in my throat.....HOWEVER there appeared to be a "tightness" (whatever that means) So now I have to get an endoscopy and have a balloon inserted to expand the passageway or the pouch opening . Has anyone ever had this issue or procedure? Can you give me an idea of what to expect? Did it actually help?

    Bad Me!

I think she was trying to re-assure me that I would be able to eat again someday but even when I can you can bet I won't be eating like that! #Disturbed

    Negative People Around Me...

I never experienced that. Fortunately my family was very supportive. You have to do this for you...not them. Unless they've been morbidly obese or dealt with diabetes or high blood pressure they can never relate...Do you attend support groups? They're really helpful

    Frustrated And Confused

The pouch does actually stretch a little bit. As soon as you feel full...even if its just after one bite stop eating. What kind of stuff are you eating? I was told that rice and pastas expand in your stomach so even if you haven't had much

    Introduction

I actually had my surgery on March 22nd. I had a few complications but nothing major. I'm currently back on a liquid diet until after my endoscopy. Good luck with everything

    Bad Me!

I was in a cab yesterday and the driver is one of my regulars. She had the surgery 4 yrs ago and proceded to tell me how she drinks sodas eats chocolates and cookies and doesn't dump.....I was sorta mad...like why put your body through all of that just to resume the same old habits? Its a lifestyle change...on the other hand I think I was envious bc I can't eat that anymore...Maybe I could but as painful as dumping sounds I wouldn't even try!
