    my first fill- 6.5 CC'S

I have he AP small which holds 10-14 cc. Mine was not done under flouroscopy, I wish it was, my doctor is more conservative. Next time if there is still an issue we'll check it out by flouro.

    my first fill- 6.5 CC'S

I had my 1st fill yesterday and they kept asking me what I feel, I don't know ! what am I suppose to feel! I felt the cold in my throat but no pain in my chest like when something is stuck. He put in 4cc. He went to withdrawl some and could not draw back any. Said there may be a kink in the tubing, Great. He said not to worry just yet, we'll see how the fill next month goes, maybe it will straightenout by then. Anyone else have this problem?

    When is your 1st fill?

My 1st fill is Nov 28. I can't wait. I know they say don't expect much the 1st fill but if I didn't see the scars I'd swear I didn't have the surgery. I have no restriction now, it's less and less each week. I usually have some when I wake up but not even that now.

    Banded Nurses?

I kinda wish I didn't say anything to my co-workers cause now their all bugging me.."how you feeling, how much have you lost" balh blah blah.My surgery was Oct 15. I know that their just trying to be supportive but I don't have my 1st fill til next week and I can eat anything and have no restriction so I keep losing and gaining the same 2 pounds. I feel like renting a billboard and putting my stats up there for all to see. maybe the novilty will wear off soon.

    Lost my PB virginity

So I just get off work, very busy 12hrs in the ER, went to the store to get a few groceries for lunches tomorrow and I'm driving home. I reach over and grab a small piece of lunch meat , swallow...then Oh My Gosh! Panic..I never want to experience that again! I didn't know if was coming back up or not! I kept swallowing and could feel it rise up in my throat, then go back down again, mouth started watering...just breath, just breath! Grab a grocery bag just incase! Do I pull over or drive..uug. finally able to burp a couple small burps without puking...and it's over. Only lasted a couple minutes, thankfully! I just kept thinking about what someone on the board said. They get this look on their face and people know! I can laugh about it now, but holy cow, that was awful, I can't imagine that going on much longer thqt a couple minutes. Live and learn, little bites and chew chew chew.

    finally realized!!!

I noticed that too. Even though the liquid protein diet was a struggle I felt food , No aches and pains more alert. But now that I've added real food to my eating I feel bad again. The good food is fine . I think it's the processed carbs.

    Can't tolerate it...

I can pretty much eat everything also, which is bad! Can't wait till my 1st fill Nov 28th.I find I'm eating too fast, I feel ok then about 20 min later, oh my gosh ,I feel too full, then feel miserable for a few hours. I guess I really need to slow done and stick to measured portions, eat then wait a while to see how I feel. It's a learning curve that's for sure.

    Sizes Have Changed

I don't recall there ever being a size 0 or 1 when i was younger, seems like size 5 was the smallest. I think they have adjusted the sizes over the years.

    Banded Nurses?

Good luck mun on your upcoming surgery. I got some concerned questions from the docs I work with also but the nursing staff has been the most supportive, they seem more excited to see the process than I am. Hopefully it will be successful. I'm 2 weeks out and feel no restriction now so the head hunger is challanging.

    question for you nurses

Phenergan can be very irritating to the tissue. If it looks infected ie.. red, swollen ,red streaks goin gaway from the sore spot, hot to touch, I'd get it checked by your doc.

    I tried chicken yesterday....

I'm on full liquids for another week then go to mushie, i was banded the same as you the 15th. yikes i'd try more pureed things
  17. Did anybody gain weight while in the hospital? I actually gained 6 lbs! It must be retaining water from the IV's cause I was only on liquids.

    Banded Nurses?

Micah I know exactly what you mean. I've been an ER nurse for nearly 20 yrs so we see the worst of the worst at times, so I was really nervous and tried not to think about it. sometimes you just have to be the patient and trust that everybody knows how to do their job. I did however have a nurse friend who works in surgery stop by before the operation. I told him if they call a code in my room to come and recusitate me.. the rest of the staff didn't appriciate that however..ha ha. I felt better though!
  19. Well, I did it, feel kinda bloated and sore but no nausea, thank goodness. Taking clear liqueds til thurs, then start full liquids for 2 weeks. Has anyone experienced a low heart rate after the surgery? mine is in the high 40's low 50's. I've never been that low in my life. I don't have any other symptoms like light headedness or dizziness.
  20. MY name is Sherri, I'm 43 yrs old. Married for 17 yrs, 2 great kds, 16yo son and 12 yo daughter, I'm a nurse in a local ER for 20 yrs. Surgery is Monday and I'm getting kinda panicky! I hope to NEVER go thru this liquid diet again in my life. Glad it's almost over.

I've read both those books too. They are good to go back and look at for reference. Well, this is day 3 of the liquid diet. Day 1 was pretty hard, kinda got paniky around the times i would eat something, like on the way home from work or around 4pm when I'd usually have a snack. 2nd day was better except I get a thick coating on my tongue from drinking the Protein drinks..yuk ! any one else get this? the hardest time is when the family eats dinner, I just go downstairs and do something else. Just went grocery shopping and bought a bunch of stuff that they can fix on their own. Husband has been great about clearing the kitchen asap after is prepared so I don't have to see it or smell it! 12 more days, Sherri

    Allergic to band?

I don't believe the sutures are re-absorbable, they are permanent.
  25. I just recieved my approval letter yesterday but in bold letters it said there is no coverage for complications related to the procedure/surgery. They pay up to 28,000.00 for the surgery itself but not complications. I was cautiously optimistic about the surgery before I got the letter but now I really frightened. I can't risk putting my family in financial ruins if there are complications and I have to pay out of pocket. I don't know exactly what they mean, what if I have complications while still in the hospital, does that count or do they mean afterwards, like months later. I'm kinda freakin out about it now. If they won't pay for problems later maybe they shouldn't cover this at all. How is it different than any other surgery with complications, other than its an elective surgery. has anyone else has this issue and had to challange the insurance company. BTW, I have umr-iba Thanks for letting me vent
