Presurgery Bumps In The Road
kmiller replied to Jen in SoCal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Jen! I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but there is a company called Care Credit. They are there to help with medical costs by paying the amount you need and they will finance your co-pay interest free for 12 months. You might look them up on the web. They will give you and instant reply. Hope that helps honey. -
I'm still on the pre-op diet which is just protein shakes, 64 oz water and Sugar free popsicles, jello and that's about it. I read on the Unjury web site that someone had written to them and said they didn't lose as much weight on their shakes and they thought it was due to where the protein was being made. I tried the unjury shakes and didn't like them. To sweet and too gritty. Can anybody tell me if they use the ready to drink shakes and which ones, and also how much is everyone walking? Thanks all..

So happy for you Berniece! Hope you'll be out and on your way soon.!

Trouble With Pre Op Diet
kmiller replied to berniec's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow Krista. You have the same mentality that I do. I have been doing the 3 shakes a day and the 64ounces of water and the sugar free Popsicles, sf jello, etc.. Last night I had a major break down and had a grilled chicken breast and some steamed broccoli. I don't believe this hurt me one bit. My surgery is a week from today. I can tell you the desire to eat has to do with the hormone Grellen, which there is a lot less of after the surgery, which is partially why you won't want to eat. -

You be the woman! You look great :-). Hope I can do that well. I'm doing the 2 week liquid protein diet and I'm ready to eat! -
Did you have your surgery laproscopically or was it an open incision? Either way, I would take them if you need them. Everybody is different. My surgery is going to be open, but I have a grand-daughters dance recital 4 days later. Do you think I can do that?

I am on day 5 of the liquid protein diet and I'm getting depressed. I want a double hamburger so badly. I don't get why some do this for 30 days, some, 7 days...I'm just ready to have something real. I feel your pain ladies. You're not alone!

Gastric Bypass Surgery Date
kmiller replied to Chrisluc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep! I am worried about it. I'm 57 and I'm real concerned about it,but I have made this commitment and I'm going to see it through. If I have to have skin removal surgery later on I will. Btw, i'm 5'5" and weigh 270, so I'm going to have some skin issues for sure. -
I think I might get a second opinion. As for me, my surgery date is May 1. It's been a 9 month process to do all of the required tests. I wish you well.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I'll be praying for you. Please let us know how things go.

Do you not like any of the flavored waters without carbonation? The Fruit 20 is really good, and so is propel.

Negative People Around Me...
kmiller replied to Jessica89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm going to " weigh in " no pun intended on this subject, too. Blankmama, I'm a little older than some of the patients doing this. Here is what I have to say...My kids and grandkids are supportive and totally on board. My sister who I really rely on for support, of course, this time was very clear when she told me Don't do it. Well, of course she's no where near what i weigh and it's not her life. I"m doing this. I have prayed and believe in God's direction. Bottom line, is everyone has opinions and most people feel the need to express them whether they are asked for or not. Just ignore them. Honey, this is YOUR decision, no one else's. You do what is RIGHT for you, and tell the rest of them to " shut it". -
I HAVE GOT TO HAVE HELP HERE!! oN THE SHAKES, ARE THEIR ANY THAT TASTE ANYWHERE CLOSE TO DECENT???? ALSO, DO YOU ALL HAVE TO DO 4 OF THE HORSE SIZE CEWABLE VITAMINS A DAY?? SHOULD I GET BIOTEN SO MY HAIR WON'T FALL OUT????? Any reply is appreciated and if you don't want to post, I'll give you my personal e-mail!!!

New Journey Starting In 3 Days!
kmiller replied to YoungNY's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What a wonderful group of supporive people I have found in this group! I'm a little bit older at almost 58, disabled from a blood clotting disorder so my walking is limited, but I feel encouraged with this support group. I will be praying for each and everyone of you as we go through this journey! May the Lord bless you,--Kristen -
I agree. I think you should check with your doctor,

Starting the liquid pre-op diet on Tuesday. Scared isn't even the word.

Yay!!! Good for you. That's exciting news! I'm from Kansas City, but I'll keep checking you out. My surgery date is May 1.

What Do You Tell People?
kmiller replied to buffalogal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would probably just tell people who ask, " I watched what I ate and exercised". That's all true and there is no need to reveal what you don't want people to know. I really dislike nosy people. Hope that helps. -
I had to have a procedure done today, where they went through my neck and inserted a filter into my vena cava to help prevent a blood clot from traveling after surgery. This not one bit pleasant! My surgery is May 1st.
-
My surgery is scheduled for May 1. I start the prep liquid diet this Tuesday. Kind of scared.

Did you have to pay for the app or buy things to monitor your exercise?

Did Anyone Cheat On Pre-Op Liquid Diet?
kmiller replied to steffie78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Diddle! I love reading your posts! I'm new to this so I don't always know how to post or comment, but here we go. The little protien bullets you talked about getting at Sam's Club...do you know the name of them, and the other thing is the Atkins shakes. Are they just called shakes or something else, and what is the best flavor? I start my Protein shakes on Tuesday for my surgery on the first. I'm not young at almost 58, and my surgery will be an open revision, but you know what...it's really my last chance to get rid of this weight. You inspire me. I was sad to read about the loss of your mother. I lost my mom about a year and a half ago. I still miss her and always will. If I can be of any help to you feel free to ask. What state do you live in? I'd love to find a buddy around here to partner with. Any suggestions? Kristen
