What's Your Plan For Thanksgiving Dinner?
luckyme2g replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op and won't be having surgery until sometime in January (I hope) so I ate the normal turkey dinner. But sweets are my normal weakness so I totally skipped dessert. I was so bummed, but I did it and it didn't kill me. By Christmas I am hoping to be on a pre-op diet so that will be a step up in challenging myself. -
Cpap Machine...oh Joy...:(
luckyme2g replied to SandeeD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first night I accidentally slept with my mask on too tight. The next day me nose hurt so bad like it was broken or something! Loosening the mask helped some but it still isn't as good as I hoped. I may try a different style of mask if the doctor thinks it is too leaky after I loosened it. We shall see when he does the first download of data.... -

I pull mine off in my sleep sometimes. I even have the adjustable one where the pressure goes down when you exhale, but it still feels difficult to me to exhale. I'm hoping I just get used to it but if not I have a follow up with the sleep doctor mid December -
Cpap Machine...oh Joy...:(
luckyme2g replied to SandeeD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had my Cpap for a couple of weeks now. I'm getting used to it, but I am not sure how much it helps. Sounds like you got a good deal, mine was close to $700 out of pocket, with insurance! -
I am almost ready to be submitted to insurance. The only thing stopping me is the WLS doctor wants a note from my PCP showing support. I have talked to my PCP multiple times and he is fully on board. So WHY is it so hard to get this stupid letter done? The first one the PCP sent was stupid. WLS center let me read it and it sounded like a first grader wrote it. So the WLS faxed a template to my PCP to use. Nothing. So Friday, I was at my PCP and I stood there watching my PCP write notes on the template and then he gave it to the admin to type up and fax over. I called the WLS doctor today and they still haven't received the letter. Why not?! So I called the PCP and am waiting for them to call me back. I have ran around going to appointment after appointment trying to get this WLS approved. Why can't just one party actually try to help me out for a change?! Okay, vent over.

I hope my approval comes through that fast. Although I am waiting until January either way because I am starting a healthcare spending account through work to help pay for it.

Well I got in touch with my doctor again, and now the letter is refaxed and made it this time. So my chart is officially handed over to the insurance coordinator and now I just wait for approval! January surgery, here I come!

I am just ready to move on to the next phase. I started the process on September 10, and still haven't been submitted to insurance! I am excited and I know it will be worth it.
-
I completely understand. I work 8-5 and it is amazing that I have even been able to get as far as I have without using all of my time. But now there is no way I will have enough sick time to cover the surgery so I need to save vacation. Sick time was all used at other appointments.

Hopefully I will be able to join you! I don't have a date yet though....

Today I officially finished all of my pre-op requirements! The results should be in by the end of the week, then my coordinator has to compile it all and I will be submitted for insurance approval. So exciting! So far I have done: Seminar Pre-op consult Chest x ray Nutritionist visit EKG Psych eval sleep study 7 vials of blood work and the h pylori breath test Pre-op support group I know you all have done it and it isn't a huge deal, but that is a lot to me. I am serious about getting my health back. I can't wait for the next phase!

Possible Sleep Apnea.
luckyme2g replied to Dreamingofhealth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got a Cpap. It is very quiet and not as uncomfortable as I feared. My dr said after I lose about a third of the weight he will check the pressure and start weening me off. -
Well, the results of my sleep study are in and I have borderline mild/moderate sleep apnea. I am not really surprised, and I keep telling myself that this is one more thing to help get me approved through insurance. But why am I so sad about it? I feel so disappointed in myself.

My doctors office has several types of masks they will let me borrow before I buy one. During my sleep study I used the nose only mask which they recommend because it is lighter and doesn't leak as much when you move. But today I have a cold and am really congested, so I can see the benefit of using one of those as well. The more I get used to the idea of needing a cpap the less sad I am. I really hope this helps me to not feel so tired all of the time!

Smooth Recovery? Anyone?
luckyme2g replied to LynRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This thread is so encouraging! Sometimes I think it is easy to focus on the negative. I also noticed that when I went to support group in person the people there were very positive as well. -
What Is Your Heart Rate While Working Out?
luckyme2g replied to MetroDetroitChic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Isn't your max calculated by 190- age? Maybe it is a different equation for makes vs. Females. The exercise physiologist I saw told me to try for around 140-155 sustained and 179 max. -
Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. I will get my cpap on Thursday. Maybe it will help me sleep better. We shall see

I think the best part is how big your smile is in the second picture! Great job!!

I grew up in Moore! I live in Yukon now but still have family there. Looks like I will be getting sleeved by Dr. Le in January.

Yay, good for you. I see the psych on Friday but still don't have a sleep study on the schedule. Hope they call me back soon! -
How long before you saw your weight loss?
luckyme2g replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op. However, I did lose 92 lbs at one point in my life with phentermine. It took about 40 lbs before I could notice, and it was in my face first. My husband noticed it a little sooner than I did. -
Has Anyone Used Flex Benefits to Pay for Part of Surgery?
luckyme2g replied to Georgiagirl27's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I thought about doing that a few years ago and it wasn't allowed on the insurance plan I had at the time. -
