Wow. That is impressive

Those are some great ideas!

I graduate from purée to soft foods today. I am going to try a scrambled egg for lunch. What are some of your favorite soft foods?

10 lbs?! Amazing! Hope the recovery continues to go smoothly
-
Good luck Laura! Will you be at Integris? That's where I was.

Joy it really isn't that bad. I had a headache the first couple if days from carb withdrawal, but the diet plan itself is a manageable. Good luck! It is soooooo worth it!

Good luck, here's hoping for a pain free recovery!

What about pain? And recovery time? These are two reasons, other than the huge price tag, that I doubt i will ever do plastics. I really hope it works out for you though!

It is amazing how much walking can help. There were several people on the floor who had the sleeve the same day as me and we were all lapping around the nurses station. It was like a bariatric marathon lol

Hi joy! thanks so much for asking! I am doing much much better. I have a little minor pain left from the incisions but that is it. The nausea is completely gone. I have one more week of full liquids then I can start the purée stage.
I've lost a total of 16 lb including the pre op diet! I am happy and am feeling well enough to start walking so it should start to come off fast now.
Best of luck with your upcoming surgery! Dr Le and his team are fabulous, they really took the time to answer all of my questions while I was in the hospital. The pre op diet is hard, but so worth it since it shrinks your liver and prepares you somewhat for post op eating!

I came home from the hospital today. I'll be honest with you. It sucks. A lot. But it will get better. A

I am sleeved!

Wish me luck, my 3 days of liquids only starts tomorrow! I better get to the store to buy some broth and sugar free Popsicles in case it snows tomorrow....

Lovelaura good luck! I start liquids tomorrow. It's weird that our diets are so different, since your surgeon and my surgeon assist each other. I will either have Dr Walton or Dr Broussard as the assisting surgeon with me next Wednesday the 8th, and I met a couple of weight wise patients when I did my nutrition class.
-
I am in the same shungsleeve. I am not scheduled until Wednesday though so I hope it is gone by then. It came on the 1st so unless the liquid diet has changed things considerably, I am hoping I will be fine,

I'm on day 1 of pre-op diet. I have a headache, I think from carb withdrawal. Other than that, it's not as bad a I feared. I will follow to a T. It is a safety issue. A smaller liver equates to a safer surgery.

I was told not to gain any more than 10 lb.

I wish my husband and I could do it together. That must be so awesome. Unfortunately my husband will never be a candidate because of severe reflux so he would have to go the bypass route. We're really hoping he can make changes enough to lose weight without surgery. I did make him get a sleep study after mine, and sure enough he has sleep apnea too! and high bp and cholesterol! and joint pain....

I love browsing at mod cloth but don't have the confidence to wear anything from there. And I really want to wear a pair of tall boots but even with previous weight loss attempts my calves have always been too big.
How much did your surgery cost?

I am so thankful for insurance. The original bill for my hospital stay, not including the surgeon or anesthesia was over $56,000!
That is before insurance though, they will only pay a fraction of that and I paid $1,000 out of pocket.
