  1. <p>I'm scheduled for Nov 26 and very excited/scared at the same time. I guess I'm not really scared because I feel so ready and have already been eating a very healthy diet for several months. I've lost 23 pounds in 3 months, so I hope that's a good head start. Last weekend I laid in a supply of liquids to have on hand for post-surgery. I am not sure what to expect re how I'll feel. </p> <p> </p> <p>Also, a confession. Is anyone else out there trying to go "under cover"? I just don't feel like discussing or talking about this very personal journey with friends/family/coworkers. My support is my partner and my clinic. I feel secure in that, but a little weird about being secretive. </p> <p> </p> <p>How about it? Anyone else going the stealth route?</p>

    I am scheduled for Monday, nov 18th. I am not telling anyone except a specific few, not even my mother. I may change my mind, but until I do, I feel this isn't something anyone else needs to know. My struggle with obesity has been easily witnessed over the years. I just don't want to be subject of the discussions, and especially the Negativisms...when I am sometime into recovery, I think I will feel differently.


  2. I just went yesterday to get the shakes. The carbs and sugars aren't too bad in the bars? I get cleared to start lifting this week' date=' and I notice that I usually have to leave the gym after cardio because I get so hungry. I usually drink 1/2 a Protein shake before my workout, which is usually an hour and a half. The bars may keep me fuller. I'm diabetic, so I try to stay on top of the carbs and sugars.[/quote']

    I wondered the same thing, they are at costco They have 25 gms of carbs (if I recall correctly) per bar. What did you do?


  3. 4 weeks from today!!! i start my liquid diet in 2 weeks. im thinking about gradually easing into it this week and next 1 meal at a time so that by the time Nov. 4 rolls around it won't be so difficult. also beginning to wean myself off of coffee. i things to look forward to both before and after the 18th' date=' brad paisley concert 10th row on the 15th, 2 hour massage on the 16th, keith urban concert in January to Celebrate the new me, my first ride on my best friend's Harley next spring, as well as going horseback riding when i hit my 100 lb loss. these are my guideposts along the way to mark my progress and things to keep me motivated. my acupuncturist always says good health is a journey, not a destination. every journey has mile markers. what are yours??[/quote']

    Wow those are great goals!.

    As to the short term: I started high Protein, 800 calories per day on Friday. I stopped coffee and alcohol. Coffee because if I don't start now, I will be a bear after surgery. Alcohol because I wouldn't be able to eat ...and it was advised, to help liver shrinkage. After two weeks I go to full fluids, still high Protein, with the last week as clear fluids. Are you supplementing Vitamins yet? I have doubled mine after talking with my doc.

    My goals are pretty simple but one I think is interesting is my husband and I plan on hiking the inca trail to Manchu Picchu next year.
