  1. I am 5'9" as well, have a large build, and my doctor's nutrition program has lifetime caloric intake at 800-1000 cal/day. No changes for height. Your body probably can't handle more than that, and 700 cal/day should not cause you to go into starvation mode. Have you seen the dietician? The therapist? They'll probably give you a better insight that the MD.

  2. Surgery on monday.. started pre op Liquid Protein diet fri.. down 8.5lbs.. haven't cheated but Im a stylist and people bring Cookies and crap into the salon all day long. Very frustrating! I'm so hungry and tired but feeling much better than previous days. I'd kill for a cheeseburger :( hopefully that craving will go away soon... I'm past my sugar craving just want some real food. .. even if its blendarized! Favorite part of my day is when I get to take my vitamins.. I started the Bariatric Fusion chewables when I started pre op.. I get to chew them and they rast like candy! I wish I could eat the whole jar...oh well' date=' back to my water! Can barely wait till Monday![/quote'] I'm a nurse and people do the same here. Crap food everywhere. It's hard at times, but I look in the mirror and see that I've lost weight, and my sleeve sisters at work see that I've lost and congratulate me, and that makes it better.

  3. Hi All' date=' I am looking to start a support group in Cornelius, NC. I own a coffee shop in Cornelius and am looking to host an evening for both those you are about to have surgery and those that have already had it. I had surgery in Mexico and find that I am falling off the wagon so to speak, I just think it will be good to swap idea's and stories. Anyone interested please let me know. Thanks, Charlie[/quote'] I think that sounds great. I live in Mooresville and will be sleeved 10/24.

  4. Hi there' date=' I am looking for a good surgeon at a good price. I want someone who has done lots of sleeves with good results. I am self pay, and am willing to consider anywhere in the US and Mexico. Price matters but anywhere under 15000 is OK. It is especially hard to figure out who has the good self pay prices in the US as the websites are not always easy to navigate and many say "contact us." I don't want to take the time to contact them if the cost is 30 000 dollars like it is here in Indianapolis!!! I am jumping all over the place researching right now and would love some help. Thanks for your time![/quote'] I go to Dr. Heider in mooresville, NC. He's inexpensive for the sleeve. He's at the center for surgical weight loss at lake Norman. I'm a crawfordsville native, and used to work a st. Vincent Carmel. Let me know if I can help you any more!!

  5. Ohhh... mine is way higher than that... my starting weight before I seen a Dr was 420lb in last 4 month's I have lost 38lbs bringing me to 382. They want me at less than 300 for surgery. Seems impossible' date=' but jus gotta keep my mind right. Guess it can be done with ALOT of work. They want it 55 Or under by surgery date. Mine now is 66. OMG! Yea. I don't like to tell... but since I see everyone seems to be honest on this forum I may as well be too. :/ Thanks for listening. :)[/quote'] have you tried Optifast? You can lose a lot of weight fast with it. I have to lose 15 lbs in 2 wks for my surgery (I'm on my liquid diet.) One of the girls in my office said they had a patient lose 52# in 4 wks on optifast.

  6. My doctor has a very strict preop diet. Per my insurance (Blue cross/blue shield) I had to do a 6 month diet, physician assessment, nutrition assessment, psych eval and PT eval. Also, I had to attend a seminar prior to even going through with all the other stuff. I've been going to see a psychologist weekly, nutrition every month, and now that my insurance approved, I have done a nutrition workshop, another Dr. appt, get an EGD, preop appt, and 2 wk Optifast (5 shakes a day) and 64+ oz of Water per day diet. Per my doc, you have to lose 5% of your body weight prior to surgery. This has been a LONG process for me, but I think I'm more mentally prepared with having so long to wait.

  7. I am new to the board and just got insurance approval to be sleeved on 10/24. I'm ridiculously excited. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and now look forward to getting surgery. Dr. Heider in Mooresville, NC is doing mine. (Aka Dr. Hottie) My preop diet is Optifast (3 shakes and a choice of 2 Soups or bars/ day) and 2 "freebies" (sugar free Popsicle, Jello, or cucumber or celery) until the last 2 days. This is my belated 35th birthday present to myself. Can. Not. Wait.
