  1. I've been looking to add some people as well. I'm woodjwl on MFP if anyone wants to add me. I'm still in my full liquid phase for two more weeks and then on to purees and mushy!
  2. Hi MnWin, looking at 175 for goal weight! Thx!

    Protein shakes

Nice! The ensure hi Protein drinks in Canada are quite different... About the same calories, but only 12g protein, and 31g carbs. Fat is around 5g. We get 6 per pack for $11.99. Yours sounds way better!

    tracker?

I use MFP (MyFitnessPal) as well. I'm using the app on my phone more and more as I love being able to barcode scan the food and liquid products and enter them in to track daily. I can put in my days meal ahead of time and see if I'm going to hit my Protein and calorie goals, and if not, adjust accordingly!
  8. Thanks for this gamergirl! Question, how much chicken broth in the Eggdrop Soup? I tried making eggdrop soup awhile a week ago and it didn't turn out very well but I don't think I did it right...I used egg whites, and then when it came to a boil I just kept stirring. Didn't taste very good. I think I'll give your recipe a go and see how it is! I like the idea of the sesame oil. How much? about 1 tsp?
  9. I've been having reduced sodium tomato soup /w light goats milk cheese to get some Protein in. I sometimes will have the serving of soup with skim milk to bump the protein up. It does increase the calories, and it clocks in around 203 calories though for the whole serving. You might feel that is too high for you though. You could opt for just Water in the soup too. I am two weeks post op. I've also had reduced sodium cream of mushroom, and cream of asparagus soups too (blended).
  10. I had diabetes, have high blood pressure, and high cholesterol and my BMI was 43. I made the decision to have the surgery based on the fact the road I was going down was a dark path for me, and now I'm on the right track. My T2 diabetes is gone, and I'm already reducing my meds for my blood pressure and I'm only 14 days post op. I still remember on my pre-op assessment weigh in, the nurse said to me "Wow, I didn't expect you to weigh that much, you carry it very well.". I didn't know if that was an insult or a compliment! Either way, keep your head up, you're doing this for a healthier you...who cares what anyone else says!

    Valentine's Challenge

Haven't done one of these before...but I'm in! I'll have to think hard about a goal weight to reach as being on the losers bench is all new to me!
  12. Congrats! Glad everything went well, and welcome to the other side of the December club!
  13. I was never a big juice drinker (being diabetic pre-sleeve), but I still buy some low cal/reduced sugar OJ to have once in awhile. 1/2 cup of that, with a scoop of vanilla Protein powder and a handful of icecubes in the blender is a nice treat!

    My lesson...

Heh...I get tempted by that stuff too Meltzy!!! I keep looking at this can of cashews that I bought for the family to snack on...And every time I see the can I'm drawn to it and ..I'm like...I could have just one....and chew it up really really well...then I slap myself and think of the possible after effects and walk away...This has happened like four times now in two days!! I did cave and buy myself some light eggnog for the holidays...I mean it is a liquid, and I'm on full liquids
  15. Congrats on your success! You look fantastic!
  16. If you live in the US, I can't help you. But in Canada, medicare will cover all costs for the surgery but the wait times are insanely long which is why I've seen many Canadians go to the US, or to Mexico. I had a 1.5 year wait on a brand new program in my area before I got my sleeve this December. My guess is that you are from the US, so hopefully someone can better answer your question!
  17. I am 11 days post op now and my goals are 600-800 calories daily as directed by my surgeon. Being a fairly big guy, my NUT wants me at the top end of the calorie goal so I've been hitting 750-800 a day easily. What did your NUT or surgeon give you for a goal?

    Off my meds!

Yes, I hear you on what the big D can do....This summer I learned that I was at the very early stages of Diabetic Retinopathy, which just basically put another check mark in the "I made the right decision to get on the wait list for this surgery column"

    9 day out!

I'm on day 10 here and the last day or two I've found that I can actually take a good mouthful of liquid now. I still remind myself to take it slow when drinking the high Protein shakes etc... as they can sit pretty heavy in the stomach. I'm still on full liquids for 3 more weeks until I meet with my surgeon again on Jan 14th then he'll move me on to the mushee/puree stage, and then no solids for an additional 4 weeks after that! I'm glad you are doing so well too!
  20. I would call and check. I was instructed to take my chewable multi-vitamn for my 1 week pre-op diet and just told not to take it one day before. I guess everyone is different, but call and set your mind at ease!
  21. If you're tracking what you eat....how much Fiber are you getting in? I know that When I went from full solids to liquids for my pre-op, my fiber pretty much went to zero and that doesn't help things one bit! I was okay to have un-sweetened applesauce which allowed me to get a little bit of fiber in and allowed things to start moving again. This worked for me, but make sure you talk to someone too as Bronco0605 suggested!

    vitamins and pills

My surgeon didn't say anything about crushing my meds either, and some of them specifically say not to be crushed. A few of them are pretty large in size but I just space it out over 10 minutes or so when taking my Metformin and Uridisol. The others are fairly small. I was sleeved on December 9th too, so I'm pretty early out of the gate. I was only two days NPO and by day 3 they were resuming me on my blood pressure meds, and by day 4 giving me my acid reflux and pain meds in pill form too! I guess everyone is different though...this is just my experience. My only difference is pre-sleeve I used to jam the lot in my mouth and take a big swig of Water to down them...Now it's one at a time and a sip! *edit* - I am also on a chewable multi-Vitamin as per his instructions, and as per my NUT I'm taking NutraSea herring oil (liquid form) for my omega's.
  23. Good luck! Keep us posted on your progress!

How much did you lose pre-op?

Haha I lost nothing! I'm down 17#'s in just 10 days post op Awesome! I weighed myself this morning on day 5 and realized I had lost 11lbs in 5 days postop! I had expected to weigh the same or more as most people said you have Fluid build up from the IV's, etc... Glad to be in the losers club!
