  1. So I was at costco this weekend and watched an amazing presentation on the Blendtec blender/processor which directly competes with Vitamix but is about $100 less. It's amazing. It has smoothie, ice cream, and Soup settings. You can make homemade Soups, purees and other creations in seconds. Toss some roasted chicken and almond milk with roasted red peppers and herbs for an amazing soup made in 90 seconds! Freeze for weekday meals! So easy! I'm serious, he made an "ice cream" which had: banana, spinach, plain coconut milk and ice - it was amazing and thick and totally healthy! No added sugar. You can also add beets, pineapple, all sorts of things for your Fiber but in a more digestible form. This is not juicing, it's whole foods at it's best. And the best part is that you can get 2-3 oz storage containers (like for baby food) and freeze/store for later! So getting this thing!!! http://www.costco.co....100052400.html containers: http://www.amazon.com/Gladware-Mini-Round-Containers-Lids/dp/B0030HTZTM/ref=pd_sim_hpc_5
  2. November thread that's all now. I'm getting acquainted here...
  3. This is the question I'm obsessed with pre-op. So tired of failing.
  4. I'm at the same point as you... Had my NUT, Dr. visit, Psych Eval, and they're submitting to ins. today. Praying I don't have a 6 month wait (diet), because I too want this in December or first week of Jan.
  5. I quit smoking 3 days ago, on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013. At my PA visit. He asked if I smoked, and how much, and I said 3-4 per day, and he told me how it impedes healing and can cause the stomach to leak. That was it! Left that appointment, and tossed my brand new pack (and lighter) in the garbage bin on the hospital can on the way out. Not looking back. Just hoping my past smoking doesn't delay the surgery any!
  6. 5'8 Start 265 BMI 40.2 Goal 145 BMI 22 Sent from my iPad using VST
  7. That's awesome!
  8. That's great! It can be done...
  9. Quit cold turkey today!!! At my physical they asked and told me healing would be compromised as a smoker so it would run the risk of a leak. Also loose skin is worse in smokers... Left the appointment and threw all my cigs in the trash at the hospital. Forget that!
  10. So I have United HC Choice Plus PPO (90/10 option, with a deductible of $300 medical $1800 annual, so my out of pocket will be $2100). My employer doesn't require anything but medical/psych clearance, dr. note, and 40 BMI or 35-39 BMI w/1 co-morbidity. I specifically asked whether I had the requirement of a 6-mo medically supervised diet, and they said no, not with my coverage. Praying that's the case because I want surgery in December!!!
  11. I'm submitting to insurance this month and hoping I don't have to do a supervised diet for 6 months. If I lose even 5 pounds, I will not be in the 40BMI range anymore, and with no co-morbids, I will be denied for sure! I can lose 20 or so pounds, but never more than that. I'm so scared they're going to make me do this, and then deny me afterwards.
  12. I'm so jealous of you all!!! I will have my paperwork submitted to insurance before end of October, so the earliest I would be is Dec. sometime. I'm PRAYING they don't make me do the 6 month WL plan...
  13. I know!!! Well, today is my info session and NUT appt, then Friday is my Dr appt. then all I'll need (I think) is my psych eval and to attend one group support session. My ins hopefully will get the letter at the end of oct and I'm praying for a nov or dec date! Yeah, we could totally support each other. I'm nervous but mainly excited. I'm a single mom of two and my weight is holding me back in life. Done sitting on the sidelines. My ex ran off with his mistress and lives with her and I've put on te pounds. Feeli sorry for myself for 4 years. I'm going to change all that!
  14. NUT and consult apps tomorrow, yay!!! I can't wait to get this ball rolling!
  15. Love this!!! There is so much in my life that is right already, so this list seems pretty superficial. But here it is: 1. Family portrait 2. Join local scuba dive club that I've been lurking on for a year 3. Take a dream trip (again diving) with a single parents group 4. Meet mr right, and fall in love again. 5. Buy a new wardrobe 6. Be a lap swimmer, like every day before work 7. Learn how to do yoga 8. Play active sports with my kids 9. Get a mommy makeover (TT and lift) 10. Teeth bleached
  16. Hoping to be around this time as well, fingers crossed... Where in so cal? I'm in OC
  17. Hi everyone! I'm a newbie, and am starting my process. Looking to get sleeved by the end of the year as a xmas/birthday present to myself. Turning 42 in January, and since I'm 30 I've been on EVERY diet in the book. Done with all of that, and making a decision to change my life forever! Can't wait to get to know you all. BTW, I'm in South Orange County.
  18. Hey all! I'm new here, have my consult, nut appt on the 15th and dr appt on the 18th. Hope to do my psych veal soon and get approved for late November... I really don't wanna do it in dec, but it is what it is...
