I think the band can and does cure reflux for people who had it prior to banding, but I don't think those people are necessarily immune to reflux post-banding if they get over-tightened. I have no scientific basis for this belief, but I don't think there's any scientific basis for the other assumption either (correct me if I'm wrong).Thought #2--For those with pre-existing reflux, the band "cures" the problem more often than not. It's those of us who never had reflux pre-op who have to watch out.I'm one of those who never had reflux prior to banding, and now I am very prone to it (even when I'm not really that tight). I have felt a lot of resentment about this, but in the long run I think it has helped to make the band work for me since I am afraid of overindulging and causing reflux.

Interesting! Was the hole probably punctured w/a needle during a fill? That is one of my fears ...

I've NEVER regretted it even though I have had some major setbacks (reflux) and struggles (head battles and sloooooow weight loss and looooong plateaus).
I hopped on a plane to France two months after finding out about the band. I was totally at peace with my decision then, and that still holds true today despite the fact that I don't consider it a "perfect" solution.
